Texas A&M star third baseman will reportedly return for the 2026 season
Friday's news was both positive and negative for the Texas A&M fan base after Athletic Director Trev Alberts announced that first-year head baseball coach Michael Earley will return for a second season in 2026, following the Aggies' 30-26 and 11-19 records in SEC play.
This was a surprise to many given Texas A&M's bizarre season, which included early non-conference losses combined with three consecutive SEC series losses before the Aggies randomly found their footing, winning series against Tennessee (road), South Carolina, Arkansas, and LSU, before last-place Missouri shockingly swept A&M in Blue Bell Park.
The loss to the Tigers ultimately ended the Aggies' postseason hopes, following their defeat to Georgia at the end of the regular season. Despite wins over Mississippi State and Auburn in the SEC Tournament, Texas A&M was eliminated from the postseason after a close 4-3 loss to LSU, casting doubt on Earley's future.
This week, Trev Alberts stated that he would "evaluate" Earley's performance during his rookie coaching season, concluding that the injuries the team dealt with at the plate and on the mound ultimately proved too much to handle, which included star sophomore third baseman Gavin Grahovac.
With the news that Michael Earley will stay in College Station, Grahovac reportedly told TexAgs analyst Ryan Brauninger that he will officially return next season after serving as the program's first base coach towards the end of the year, while continuing to rehab, and will be in full health going into the winter months.
Before his injury, Grahovac recorded five hits and two home runs in six games, hitting .227 at the plate. This is just the start of the future return announcement, with Earley's return finalized.

Former Patriot rips comparison of Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers to Tom Brady

Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady will forever be interlinked as two of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play — but a former Patriot believes the recent retirement talk is what truly separates the two. Colin Cowherd hosted Julian Edelman on The Herd this past Thursday, and when comparisons between Brady's final season and Rodgers' upcoming retirement tour were made — the former Patriots wideout seemingly took exception. 'You can't even put those guys in the same sentence, because we didn't know it was Tom Brady's last year,' Edelman said. 'When it was [Brady's] last year, he didn't want the distraction of that. He wanted to go out and play his best possible football that he could play the last year of his career without making it a distraction. Now, we know it's [Rodgers'] last year — we've heard that before.' It's safe to say we know Edelman's opinion on Rodgers' retirement confirmation — which is almost the polar opposite of Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger's take on the situation. Can Rodgers shut out the criticism for his final run — or, a better question — what will it take for the four-time MVP to get the respect he arguably deserves? Deion Sanders shares recovery update as possible Colorado return nears

A post shared by @COACHPRIME (@deionsanders) Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is taking small strides in rehab after stepping away from the team to attend to an unspecified health issue. His son, Deion Jr., shared a hopeful update over the weekend. A recent post on the elder Sanders' Instagram account revealed Coach Prime wearing a weighted vest while walking with his son. The caption read, "Every little step I take, my son [Deion Jr.] has been there, so we've decided to keep stepping! Coach Prime is coming to a stadium sold out soon." Sanders' absence has had ripple effects on the Buffaloes' offseason routine after he missed spring youth camps and has not been in Boulder since April. The weighted vest could suggest that Sanders is trying to accelerate his recovery, as it helps build strength. While specifics of his condition remain private, the 57-year-old coach revealed in May, during a podcast with former NFL cornerback Asante Samuel, that he lost 14-pounds earlier this spring. A few weeks ago Sanders did update Colorado fans on his recovery saying on social media saying 'everything is okay' and that he will provide more details on his health when he returns. Sanders previously missed time due to blood clots in 2023 that forced him to miss a Pac-12 media days. A major sign in his recovery could come in a couple weeks when he is expected to attend the Big 12 media days on July 9 in Frisco, Texas. His presence there could mark a turning point, signaling readiness to return to his coaching duties ahead of fall camp. Colorado kicks off its 2025 season at home against Georgia Tech on Aug. 29. Iowa women's basketball offers standout 2026 Georgia PG Leah DeWitt

Iowa women's basketball continued their hunt for the next great name to represent the Hawkeyes on Sunday by extending an offer to 2028 point guard recruit Leah DeWitt. The 5-foot-8 native of Marietta, GA, stars for Marietta High School and plays club for AEBL Girlz. While it is a bit too early for most recruiting sites to ranks the 2028 recruiting class, Prep Girls Hoops ranks DeWitt as both the No. 2 recruit and point guard in the state. In her first season on Marietta's varsity squad, DeWitt averaged 25.4 points on 52% shooting from the field, 35% from 3-point territory, and 80% from the free-throw line in 29 games, according to MaxPreps. In addition to her high scoring numbers, DeWitt averages 6.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game. Along with Iowa, DeWitt holds offers from numberous premier programs such as Georgia Tech, Miami, Virginia Tech, Auburn, Baylor, Florida State, and Oklahoma. While DeWitt will crtainly get more offers as he recruitment continues, new Iowa assistant coach Lasondra Barrett could be a secret weapon in DeWitt's recruitment due to her familiarity with the state. In the same notion, Barrett will be a valuable asset to the Hawkeyes throughout Georgia as well. Barrett joined the Hawkeyes' staff this offseason after three years as an assistant coach for Georgia Tech.
