Why Katrina Kaif Can Give Honest Feedback To Vicky Kaushal But Not Accept His In Return

NDTVa day ago

New Delhi:
Vicky Kaushal recently completed 10 years in the film industry. In a candid conversation with Kareena Kapoor Khan who also completed 25 years in the industry, he spoke about how Katrina Kaif always gives him honest feedback about his work. However, she is not okay with him doing the same with her, as the first reaction has to be that of encouragement.
What's Happening
Vicky Kaushal spoke about how his wife, actress Katrina Kaif is always blunt when it comes to giving feedback about his work.
During his interaction with Kareena Kapoor Khan for The Hollywood Reporter, Vicky said, "She is very honest. She will say how it is. But sometimes, she will be a little careful because whatever it is, there is a lot of hard work that has gone into it. You have to be sensitive towards that, and I can't just go...so, sometimes she is sensitive about it, but mostly she is straightforward, which I actually love. After a film screening, it is very rare to find that kind of feedback. This was good, this was bad, this you could have done better."
When Kareena expressed how she wished that her husband, actor Saif Ali Khan was also open to such positive criticism, Vicky Kaushal interrupted and said that Katrina is the same.
He said, "But it's the same over here. She wouldn't want that either. The first step has to be encouragement."
How Reddit Reacted
The internet was in splits as they reacted to Vicky Kaushal's statement.
One social media user shared, "If you're dishing it out, you ought to be able to take it too."
Another added, "Lol, Katrina has always been very sensitive about any kind of negative feedback."
Someone else was a bit harsh when they wrote, "She's that person in a friend group who can dish out roasts but can't take it themselves and get angry if you say something about them."
Work
Vicky Kaushal's last release was the blockbuster Chhaava at the beginning of 2025. While Katrina Kaif was last seen in Sriram Raghavan's Merry Christmas with Vijay Sethupathi in 2024.
In A Nutshell
Social Media had the funniest reaction to Vicky Kaushal revealing that while he gets honest feedback from Katrina about his work, the same can't be done when he has to return the favour.

Paresh Rawal confirms his return as 'Baburao' in Hera Pheri 3 after lawsuit and exit controversy; netizens feel it was a '100% PR stunt'

In a major development for Hera Pheri fans, veteran actor Paresh Rawal has officially confirmed his return to Hera Pheri 3 in a recent media interview. After a long controversy and weeks of speculations, the 'OMG' actor has finally put an end to all the debates. Amid this, netizens feel that all the drama happened for publicity and called it a 'PR stunt'. In a recent interview on The Himanshu Mehta Show, the 70-year-old actor assured that "everything is fine now. His statement comes after he announced his exit from the film in May. During the conversation, Paresh mentioned that there is no controversy. He continued saying that when a project is so loved by an audience, one needs to handle it with care. "The public showered us with love, and that comes with responsibility. We must never take that for granted. We owe them our best work," he added. Paresh Rawal - 'All issues are resolved for #herapheri3 ' matlab paisa badhaliya #AkshayKumar Disagreements have been solved; production is to continue as planned Paresh Rawal played one of the iconic characters of Babu Bhaiya, which is, to date, loved by fans. Well, when asked whether the film was back on track, the actor stated that all disagreements have now been settled and the production will continue as planned. He also added that it was going to happen anyway, but sometimes one needs to fine-tune things with one another, as all are involved in creative minds. "Priyadarshan, Akshay, and Sunil—these are people I've known and worked with for many, many, many years.' Netizens call the 'Heri Pheri 3' controversy a PR stunt Following the interview, fans were thrilled to know about Paresh Rawal's return to Priyadarshan's film, but some social media users found it to be a PR stunt, especially since Rawal did not disclose the reason behind his initial decision to step away from the project. One Reddit user wrote on the thread, "It was either PR or a negotiation tactic by Paresh Rawal." While another added, "Everybody here saw through this bluff from day one lol." Another asked, "Are they ever going to actually make it or just keep doing this?" "Pure PR. Why would one try to leave this series?" "I bet All this Paresh Rawal drama is a PR stunt of #HeraPheri3," another comment read whereas a fourth user commented, "Akshay Kumar vs Paresh Rawal is 100% a PR stunt," one wrote on X (formerly called Twitter) Some fans defend Paresh Rawal and team Apart from the critics, some defended the veteran actor, saying that no PR stunt goes to the court. "It wasn't just a PR stunt. No PR stunt goes to the extent of court and legal papers. There were actual legal notices issued. They just sorted it, as proceedings in court would consume too much time and money. Firoz Nadiadwala agreed to pay a higher remuneration to Paresh Rawal. Hera Pheri Controversy In May 2025, Paresh Rawal announced that he had stepped away from Hera Pheri 3. This left fans, particularly those who loved his portrayal of Baburao, deeply disappointed, with many pleading for him to rejoin the beloved franchise. The controversy intensified after the reports surfaced with claims that Akshay Kumar, the co-actor and co-producer of Hera Pheri 3, had filed a Rs 25 crore lawsuit against Paresh Rawal for exiting the film midway. A later update revealed that Rawal had returned his ₹11 lakh signing fee, along with an additional 15% interest as compensation for leaving the project. Aamir Khan threatened to leave Taare Zameen Par over Amole Gupte's direction; lost confidence after watching ‘amateurish' rushes: ‘No second chance'

Aamir Khan has often been accused of taking over projects from directors or dominating them to the point of sidelining the filmmaker. These speculations gained momentum after the actor took over the direction of Taare Zameen Par from the film's writer, Amole Gupte. In a recent interaction, Aamir broke down the entire incident and shared what went on behind the scenes that compelled him to take over the film's direction. Speaking to Lallantop, Aamir revealed that he had known Amole since their school days and the two were good friends, having done theatre together. He shared that Amole had mentioned he wanted to approach Akshaye Khanna for his film. Curiously, Aamir asked Amole about the project and offered to recommend Amole's film to the Chhaava actor. Aamir heard the script of the film and liked it so much that he expressed his willingness to produce and star in it. He said, 'I really liked the story and I cried while hearing it. I promised Amole to call Akshaye and recommend it to him, but I questioned Amole, 'Why are you not offering this film to me?' and Amole said he thought I wouldn't be interested.' After this, the first discussion Amole and Aamir had was about direction. Aamir revealed that Amole expressed his wish to direct the film, but the Sarfarosh actor wasn't convinced about his skills as a director and told him so upfront. Aamir said, 'I told Amole, if you want me to produce the film then you won't be able to direct it because I don't have the confidence in you as a director.' After Aamir refused, Amole asked for one chance to direct the film, but the superstar again refused point-blank. So, Amole agreed to step back from direction, and they began searching for another director. Meanwhile, Aamir wasn't satisfied with the last portion of the film's script and sat with Amole for a week to rework it. During this time, while they were rewriting the script, Aamir had a change of heart and decided to give Amole a chance at direction, seeing his conviction and emotional connection to the story. Amole took the reins as director and started shooting the film with the child actors. While Aamir wasn't involved during the first week of filming, his team raised an alarm over Amole's direction and asked Aamir to view the rushes. After watching the footage, Aamir found the direction amateurish and decided to replace him. Sharing the same, he said, 'Rushes were amateurish, according to me. I didn't like the rushes at all.' Aamir recalled confronting Amole and even offering to back out of the film both as an actor and producer, willing to bear all the expenses incurred during the first week of shooting as he wasn't convinced with Amole's direction. He said, 'Amole called the rushes 'golden'. If he would have admitted that his work as a director is falling short, I would have given him a second chance but at that time I realised our thinking is very different.' He added, 'I told Amole that my confidence on you as a director is finished. I am giving this subject back to you, make this film somewhere else. I can't work on this as an actor or producer. I will write all the expenses I have incurred on this.' Aamir admitted that Amole asked 'for a second chance,' but he refused to grant it. Later, Amole backed out as director himself. While they were still looking for someone to direct the film, Aamir shared that it was Amole who suggested that Aamir should take on the role of director.
