Jordan, Morocco explore expanded municipal, cultural cooperation

Ammon News - Chairperson of the Greater Amman Municipality Committee Yousef Shawarbeh on Sunday held talks with Moroccan Ambassador to Jordan Fouad Akhrif to explore avenues for enhancing cooperation and joint initiatives between Amman and Rabat.
During the meeting, Shawarbeh outlined the Municipality's ongoing projects and strategic plans aimed at improving municipal services and infrastructure for citizens. He highlighted the depth of Jordanian-Moroccan relations and underscored Amman's commitment to strengthening ties and expanding collaborative efforts that serve mutual interests.
Ambassador Akhrif commended the progress achieved by Amman in municipal development and cultural advancement. He praised the Municipality's initiatives in infrastructure enhancement and service delivery and conveyed Morocco's readiness to deepen cooperation and facilitate the exchange of expertise for the benefit of both cities.
Amman and Rabat are bound by a cooperation agreement encompassing areas such as environmental protection, science and technology, culture and arts, urban planning, and the preservation of historical and cultural heritage. The two capitals are also linked by a brotherhood and friendship accord covering local governance, municipal services, urban development, preservation and revitalization of Islamic heritage, environmental initiatives, and cultural exchange.

Sheikh Hussein told WAFA that he was summoned by Israeli intelligence for questioning at a center in Jerusalem's Old City. The interrogation came in the wake of his Friday sermon at Al-Aqsa Mosque, in which he condemned Israel's policy of starvation against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
