Dassault Systèmes and Patrick Jouin Unveil "Ta.Tamu," Their Latest Collaboration Redefining Traditional Design
Ta.Tamu is a lightweight chair 3D-printed in a folded position, created on Dassault Systèmes' 3DEXPERIENCE platform to showcase a bold reinvention of design for the generative economy
AI-powered virtual twins and a frugal approach to materials by designers and engineers leveraged biomimicry and data to optimize the chair's design for 3D printing without assembly
A collaborative virtual experience integrating thinking, modeling and simulation early in the design process enhanced ideation and concept development
PARIS, June 25, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dassault Systèmes (Euronext Paris: FR0014003TT8, DSY.PA) and the French designer Patrick Jouin today unveiled "Ta.Tamu," a lightweight, 3D-printed and functional chair, co-created using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform on the cloud. Ta.Tamu serves as a proof of concept for emerging, generative design processes that combine AI-powered virtual twins and the frugal use of materials to drive the generative economy.
Ta.Tamu is the result of a four-year dialogue between Patrick Jouin's intuitive design approach and Dassault Systèmes' 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Designers and engineers redefined how a chair could be conceived — challenging traditional design methods, pushing formal and structural limits, and inventing new ways to minimize matter.
Developed through enhanced ideation and concept development, and a life cycle assessment integrated early in the process, Ta.Tamu's pioneering aesthetics were inspired by biomimicry and the structural logic of the human body, such as bone density and joint articulation. The light yet robust lattice structure weighs just 8.6 pounds (3.9 kg), can support 220 pounds (100 kg), and can be 3D printed in a flat, folded position without needing assembly.
"Nature uses only the energy and materials it needs. We wanted to apply this very simple philosophy to the development of Ta.Tamu. With the help of new collaborative technologies of Dassault Systèmes, we are now able to come up with new ideas and make them possible, creating more efficiently while producing less waste, right from the design process," said Jouin.
Collaborating around an AI-powered virtual twin, design teams modeled and simulated the behavior of complex assembled components, using topological optimization to refine every joint, unfolding articulation, and zone of pressure and support. At each stage, the design evolved in real time through close interaction with the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, with changes updated and visible in the virtual twin. Teams modified the chair's geometry while balancing its aesthetics, resulting in an optimal design where gesture, function, and structure converge in a chair that weighs 75% less than it would have weighed at full density.
"To improve the world we live in, we have to change the way we produce, design and use materials. Ta.Tamu represents a call to action for industry to embrace a generative economy instead of continuing to create without limits," said Anne Asensio, Vice President Design Experience, Dassault Systèmes. "Ta.Tamu was created with the technology used to innovate sustainably in industrial contexts. As a science-based company, we want to create value for society in every aspect of people's lives through our 3DEXPERIENCE platform. Design processes integrating modeling and simulation from the start lead to innovations that improve real life."

About Patrick JouinPatrick Jouin is a French designer and a graduate of ENSCI–Les Ateliers. In 1999, he founded his industrial design studio, Patrick Jouin iD. A pioneer in the use of 3D printing for furniture design, he created the Solid collection in 2004, the first series of furniture pieces produced directly from digital files, without molds or assembly. This milestone marked the beginning of an in-depth exploration of new ways to design and manufacture, rethinking forms, gestures, and structures in light of emerging technologies.
Through objects such as One Shot, Bloom, and the monolithic bench at the Palais de Tokyo, Patrick Jouin has revealed the ability of these tools to generate intuitive, lightweight, and sometimes otherwise unattainable forms. Since 2019, he has been engaged in an experimental collaboration with Anne Asensio and the teams at Dassault Systèmes, exploring generative design, folding, and deployability.

Is the Cryptocurrency Era About to Begin? Blockchain Expert Mr. Brijmohan Singh Explores the Future of Digital Finance
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM / / June 29, 2025 / As we move deeper into 2025, it has become increasingly clear that the global financial system is undergoing a historic transformation. Cryptocurrencies once viewed as speculative assets are now emerging as credible instruments of value, trust, and financial access. The era of digital finance is not only beginning it's accelerating. The global cryptocurrency market capitalization reached $3.44 trillion in May 2025, marking a 5.2% increase since the beginning of the year. Bitcoin continues to lead as the dominant digital asset, but what's more significant is the growing participation across sectors from institutional investors to small-scale users in emerging economies. This growth is not just about asset prices. It reflects a broader shift toward decentralized financial infrastructure. More than 562 million people worldwide now use cryptocurrencies, a figure that has grown over 34% from 2024. Countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America are leading adoption, often out of necessity rather than novelty. In many of these regions, digital currencies provide faster, cheaper, and more accessible alternatives to traditional banking. From my research and observations, the biggest hurdle now lies not in technology, but in regulation. Without clear rules, the industry remains vulnerable to misuse and misunderstanding. We must avoid a fragmented patchwork of rules that stifle innovation. Instead, I advocate for regulatory frameworks that are clean, simple, and technology-adaptive. This challenge is global. In many regions, lawmakers are still struggling to define what cryptocurrency is let alone how to govern it. But well-structured regulation can serve as a catalyst rather than a constraint. The purpose of policy should be to encourage innovation while ensuring consumer protection and financial stability. That balance is crucial. It is also essential that we shift public perception away from short-term speculation. The true power of blockchain lies in its utility: near-instant, peer-to-peer, borderless transactions. Today, aid organizations are using blockchain to deliver emergency funds across conflict zones in under three minutes. Entrepreneurs are using it to raise capital without relying on centralized financial systems. The technology is already making a real difference. Looking forward, blockchain investment is expected to reach $19 billion by the end of 2025, up from $12.4 billion in 2023. The market outlook remains strong, with projections estimating a total crypto market value of $5.43 trillion by 2029. These numbers reflect growing confidence and institutional integration but they also reflect the urgency of doing things right. The cryptocurrency era is not a trend it is a structural shift. We are witnessing the beginning of a more transparent, efficient, and inclusive financial world. But the path ahead demands informed leadership, responsible innovation, and global collaboration. The time to shape that future is now. Mr. Brijmohan Singh is a distinguished blockchain expert and financial investor with over a decade of hands-on experience in the digital finance sector. Since the early days of decentralized technology, he has been at the forefront of shaping the crypto and blockchain ecosystem, offering strategic insights and advisory to both emerging startups and established institutions. His deep understanding of blockchain's potential has positioned him as a trusted voice in bridging traditional finance with innovative, decentralized models. Throughout his career, Mr. Singh has played a key role in accelerating the adoption of digital assets by supporting multiple platforms in scaling their infrastructure, navigating regulatory frameworks, and unlocking the true value of blockchain utility. His mission is to help build a more transparent, efficient, and inclusive financial system by leveraging blockchain technology to its fullest. With a commitment to innovation and responsible growth, he continues to influence the next generation of global digital finance. Why Rocket Lab Stock Skyrocketed This Week
The S&P 500 index hit a new record high this week, and so did Rocket Lab stock. Rocket Lab announced that it had entered into a contract to provide two satellite launches for the European Space Agency. The company also launched two of its Electron rockets this week and marked its fastest-ever consecutive launches. 10 stocks we like better than Rocket Lab › Rocket Lab (NASDAQ: RKLB) stock soared this week thanks to a combination of bullish catalysts. The space-tech company's share price climbed 17.8% from the previous Friday's market close in a stretch that saw the S&P 500 index rise 3.4% and set a new record high. Strong bullish momentum shaped the broader market this week as the new ceasefire between Israel and Iran lessened geopolitical volatility and investors bet that the Federal Reserve is poised to take a more dovish stance on interest rates. Rocket Lab stock also got a boost from new rocket launches and rising excitement surrounding defense applications within the space industry. In addition to the bullish backdrop for the broader market, some major business-specific news pushed Rocket Lab's valuation higher this week. As with the S&P 500, the company's stock hit a new record in this week's trading. Rocket Lab announced on Wednesday that it won a new contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) for two satellite launches. The first of the launches could take place as early as December, and the ESA said that it had selected Rocket Lab for the missions because rapid turnaround time for the initiatives was a key priority. Rocket Lab published a press release on Thursday announcing that it had successfully completed the launch of its 67th Electron rocket, which carried four satellites into low-Earth orbit for HawkEye 360 -- a provider of geospatial analytics. The company followed it up with the 68th successful Electron launch on Saturday, marking its fastest-ever turnaround between launches. The space-tech specialist now has a market capitalization of roughly $16.3 billion and is valued at approximately 28.5 times this year's expected sales. While the company's growth-dependent valuation creates potential for downside volatility, the business does appear to be scoring some big wins and is scaling rapidly. G-7 agrees to exclude U.S. companies from 15% minimum tax
June 29 (UPI) -- Group of Seven nations agreed to exempt U.S. companies from a 15% minimum corporate tax rate, the countries said in a joint statement. The nonbinding deal was announced Saturday but still requires approval from the 38-member Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development that established the 2021 agreement on taxing companies. G-7 nations are part of the OECED. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent had proposed a "side-by-side solution" for American-headquartered companies that would be exempt from the Income Inclusion Rule and Undertaxed Profits Rule "in recognition of the existing U.S. minimum tax rules to which they are subject." The massive spending bill now being considered in Congress originally included a "revenge tax" that would have imposed a levy of up to 20% on investments from countries that taxed U.S. companies. "I have asked the Senate and House to remove the Section 899 protective measure from consideration in the One, Big, Beautiful Bill," Bessent wrote in a multi-post thread on X on Thursday. The House has approved the massive legislation and the Senate is considering it. "It is an honorable compromise as it spares us from the automatic retaliations of Section 899 of the Big, Beautiful Bill," Italian Finance Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti told local media. "We are not claiming victory, but we obtained some concessions as the U.S. pledged to engage in OECD negotiations on fair taxation," an unnamed French official told Politico Europe. The official called the "revenge tax" a potentially "huge burden for French companies." Trump has criticized this provision because he said it would limit sovereignty and send U.S. tax revenues to other countries. "The Trump administration remains vigilant against all discriminatory and extraterritorial foreign taxes applied against Americans," Bessent wrote Thursday. Trump has imposed a July 9 deadline for U.S. trading partners to lower taxes on foreign goods, threatening high duties on the worst offenders, including 50% on goods from the 27 European Union members. In April, a baseline tariff was imposed on most U.S. trading partners, with higher rates on certain companies and products. In 2021, nearly 140 countries agreed to tax multinational companies at the 15% minimum, regardless of where they were headquartered. In late April, the European Union, Britain, Japan and Canada agreed to exempt the United States from the 15% minimum tax on companies. "Delivery of a side-by-side system will facilitate further progress to stabilize the international tax system, including a constructive dialogue on the taxation of the digital economy and on preserving the tax sovereignty of all countries," the joint statement read. The agreement, according to the statement, would ensure that any substantial risks identified "with respect to the level playing field, or risks of base erosion and profit shifting, are addressed to preserve the common policy objectives of the side-by-side system." The G-7 includes Britain, France, Germany, Italy in Europe, as well as Canada, Japan and U.S. Before 2014, the group was known as the G-8 until Russia was expelled after annexing the Crimea region of Ukraine. The chairs of the House and Senate committees responsible for tax policy cheered the agreement. "We applaud President Trump and his team for protecting the interests of American workers and businesses after years of congressional Republicans sounding the alarm on the Biden Administration's unilateral global tax surrender under Pillar 2," Idaho Sen. Mike Crapo, chair of the Senate Finance Committee, and Missouri Rep. Jason Smith, chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, said in a press release. The agreement also, however, has its critics. "The U.S. is trying to exempt itself by arm-twisting others, which would make the tax deal entirely useless," Markus Meinzer, director of policy at the Tax Justice Network, told Politico Europe. "A ship with a U.S.-sized hole in its hull won't float." Sign in to access your portfolio
