Perth man found facedown in pool of blood in Thai apartment
The 54-year-old is believed to be Michael Shane Caola and was found on the seventh floor of the Grand Shivalay apartment in the beachside city of Pattaya in Thailand according to The Daily Mail.
Pattaya City Police investigator, Saijai Khamjulla, confirmed that he received reports of the dead Australian at about 4pm local time on Thursday.
When entering the room where Caola's body was, officers reportedly found broken glass and scattered pill bottles but couldn't see any signs of struggle.
It was the apartment manager, Thanchanok Prajit, who discovered Caola's body after noticing a foul odour coming from his room. Perth man Michael Shane Caola (left) was found dead in an apartment in Thailand. Credit: Facebook
'He was a regular customer, often seen exercising, probably to take care of his health,' she reportedly said.
Shockingly, two hours earlier police discovered the body of a 38-year-old Swedish national in a separate room two floors below in the same building.
The Swedish man was found naked near an overflowing bathtub with a one-inch laceration to his forehead and right eyebrow, local media outlet Khaosod reported. Caola shared a photo of him on Facebook at what seems to be his own wedding in April 2016. Credit: Facebook
'His case does not involve any woman, unlike the previous case involving a Swedish national who died in the same apartment on the same day,' he said.
Caola's Facebook profile reveals a series of photos of him alongside young woman who could be from Thailand and there's also a photo of him at what seems to be his own wedding in April 2016.
The beachside city of Pattaya, famous for its sex-for-sale wild nightlife and despite recent efforts to remediate the city's image, crime continues to make international headlines.

Sharon Brightwell: Mother cruelly tricked by AI scammer who used her own daughter's voice to steal from her
Sharon Brightwell fell victim to a scammer after they used her own daughter's voice to convince her she was in trouble. Sharon Brightwell fell victim to a scammer after they used her own daughter's voice to convince her she was in trouble. Credit: Sharon Brightwell / Facebook A mother has fallen victim to a heartless scam after callers used AI to pose as her daughter. When Sharon Brightwell picked up the phone on July 9 she heard her own daughter tearfully tell her she had been in a car accident. 'There is nobody that could convince me that it wasn't her,' Sharon said. 'I know my daughter's cry,' she told WFLA. She listened to the caller tell her that she had hit a pregnant woman while texting and driving, and said her phone was confiscated by police. Then the Florida woman heard a male voice who told her he was the lawyer that would represent her daughter. He said the daughter was in custody and needed $23,000 to post bail. Ms Brightwell said the man gave very detailed instructions, and warned her 'not to tell the bank what the money was for' because it would affect her daughter's credit score. In a state of shock she followed the instructions, withdrew the money and placed it in a box as the man had requested. Then a driver showed up to her house and collected the package. This was not the end, and Ms Brightwell received another call telling her the unborn child had died in the womb as a result of the accident, and that the family would not sue if they were paid $46,000. This is when Ms Brightwell's grandson intervened. He arranged a phone call with Ms Brightwell's real daughter on the other line. When Ms Brightwell heard her daughter's voice she 'screamed' and 'broke down'. Her daughter had been fine the whole time. The family suspects the scammers used videos from the daughter's social media to accurately replicate her voice in a cruel and emotionally manipulative scam. They have reported the matter to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and urge other families to take precautions against this sophisticated high-tech scam. Ms Brightwell's daughter has launched a GoFundMe page to cover the cost of the $23,000. On the page, she wrote, that the AI cloned voice sounded 'exactly like her'. 'After you hear your child in distress, all logic is out the window. Nothing would have convinced her that wasn't me.'

Concerning alleged find after man, 38, accusingly stalked radio host Jackie O Henderson in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs
A man charged with stalking KIIS FM radio host Jackie O Henderson was found outside her Clovelly home with a bolt in a sock, a court has heard. David Gourley was arrested in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs in early July after he allegedly stalked the radio star and would send her hundreds of Instagram messages. Police launched an investigation after receiving a complaint from Ms Henderson on July 3. The next day the 38-year-old was arrested while sitting on a bench outside her home. Police allege the 10-15cm bolt inside a sock was found when they searched Mr Gourley's satchel. The alleged stalker appeared via video link from prison, where he has been held on remand since his arrest. The court was told Mr Gourley sent 'hundreds if not thousands' of messages from January up until his arrest to the radio star. The 38-year-old is facing four counts of stalk/intimidate and one count each of using a carriage service to menace/harass, armed with intention to commit indictable offence and use offensive weapon to commit indictable offence. He entered not guilty pleas to all charges on Monday's hearing. Kyle Sandilands and Jackie 'O' Henderson (right) host their morning show on KIIS FM. Picture: Instagram Mr Gourley's solicitor Trudie Cameron told the court some of the messages were sexual in nature and 'troubling'. However, she added the messages were not aggressive in tone. Ms Cameron proposed bail conditions for him to be under house arrest so he can live with his partner. Magistrate Michael Barko said the messages would have been a 'great concern' for Ms Henderson, the court heard. Mr Barko described the allegations as 'disturbing', aligning with someone suffering serious untreated mental health condition. At the time of Mr Gourlay's arrest, he was taken to a mental health facility before being charged by police. The court heard he had been unmedicated at the time from his diagnosed schizophrenia. Mr Barko refused Mr Gourley bail due to not having a proposed mental health treatment plan or regime to address his mental health condition.

Victoria Police offer scant details on frightening machete attack at Melbourne shopping centre after man's arm slashed
Victoria Police have offered scant details on a horrific armed robbery at a shopping centre south-west of Melbourne during which a man had his arm slashed by a machete. The incident unfolded around 8pm on Saturday when a 33-year-old man was approached by a group of men at Central Square Shopping Centre in Altona Meadows. Police said investigators have been told the victim was pushed to the ground before one of the alleged offenders pulled out an "edged weapon" and struck the man's forearm. The group then fled the scene with the man's phone, while the victim was taken to hospital for serious injuries. Police believe the parties are not known to each other. Victoria Police did not release a public statement about the incident, but informed of the details when contacted directly. No information was released that may assist the public in helping identify the alleged perpetrators. While there were no reports on Victoria Police's website or social media platforms at time of publication, a post was shared on Facebook earlier on Monday morning about wet weather, reminding motorists to be vigilant on the roads while driving. Police said investigations into the shopping centre attack are ongoing. The Herald Sun reports the 33-year-old man almost lost part of his hand after he was slashed by the machete. Victoria Ambulance said the man was treated at the scene for "upper body injuries" before he was taken in a serious but stable condition to Royal Melbourne Hospital. In a separate incident on Sunday night, a teenage boy was rushed to hospital with critical injuries after he was stabbed at Broadmeadows Central shopping centre in Melbourne's north. Speaking to media on Monday, Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan defended the state's machetes crackdown after she was asked if the ban should be implemented sooner in the wake of the attacks. "We've already got a ban in place here in Victoria on the sale of machetes," Ms Allan said. The Premier confirmed earlier this year that Victoria would bring forward its ban on machetes, which will officially come into effect on September 1. An interim ban was put in place on the sale of machetes in May following a wild brawl between rival gangs at Northland Shopping Centre in Melbourne's north. Ms Allan said the machete sales ban has already had a "great effect" regarding physical retailers while online outlets have taken machetes out of circulation. "The statewide ban, Australia's first ban on machetes, comes into place on September 1 and that timeline is being worked on with Victorian police as the quickest and safest way to get rid of these dangerous weapons," Ms Allan said on Monday. "It took the United Kingdom 18 months to bring about a ban on machetes in their nation, we're doing it in less than six, and it comes into place on September 1." Asked if she was comfortable with the official ban still being months away, Ms Allan backed in the timeline being worked on with Victoria Police. "The start of September was identified as the safest and quickest way, based on the advice of Victorian Police, to get those dangerous weapons off our streets," she said. "But we've acted earlier than that in bringing about the ban on the sale of machetes, which has already been in place and it is already working." Ms Allan labelled the incidents in Altona Meadows on the weekend as "just horrific", adding her thoughts are with the man and his family as he recovers. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
