University of Doha for Science and Technology celebrates 2025 convocation

DOHA: Under the patronage of Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) has held its 2025 convocation.
The graduation ceremony at the Qatar National Convention Center was attended by Shura Council Speaker HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, Minister of Education and Higher Education HE Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater, along with officials, dignitaries, and the graduates' parents.
A total of 323 outstanding students were honored.
This week, the university will organise three graduation ceremonies for a total of 1,166 graduates from the colleges of Business, Computing and Information Technology, Engineering and Technology, and Health Sciences.
This year's convocation featured the graduation of the first cohort with a Postgraduate Diploma in Interprofessional Neonatal Intensive Care and the first batch with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Healthcare Management.
UDST President Dr Salem bin Nasser Al Naemi highlighted the institution's key achievements, including the launch of new academic programs, such as the Bachelor of Aeronautical Engineering and Management, in collaboration with Qatar Airways, Airbus, and international academic partners.
Al Naemi boasted the UDST graduates' academic potential, which makes them well-prepared to meet future challenges amid the rapid technological and AI developments.
Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Hamad Al Sharshani reveled in being the first Qatari graduate from the Master of Science in Diabetes Care and Education program, praising the University's pivotal role in preparing distinguished national cadres.
The ceremony saw a visual presentation showcasing the students' educational journey and concluded with distributing certificates for the graduates who wore graduation gowns designed and manufactured by a Qatari fashion house.
To date, UDST has graduated more than 10,000 students, while more than 8,500 students from over 85 nationalities are still pursuing their studies across diverse academic programs, reflecting the university's commitment to diversity and excellence.

Tribune News Network Doha The Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has signed a partnership agreement with four of Qatar's leading private hospitals: Al Ahli Hospital, Al Emadi Hospital, Aman Hospital, and Doha Clinic Hospital. The aim of the agreement is to enhance access to healthcare for Qatari citizens, ensure the timely provision of high-quality medical services, and improve the overall patient experience. Under the agreement, Qatari citizens facing long waiting time for appointments in clinics and departments at HMC facilities will be referred to the above mentioned private hospitals to ease their access to care, ensuring that medical services are received without unnecessary delay. HMC Managing Director Mohammad bin Khalifa Al Suwaidi emphasized the importance of this agreement, stating: 'This initiative is a model of effective public-private partnerships in the healthcare sector that benefits our citizens and supports Qatar's National Health Strategy 2024-2030. By leveraging the strengths of both sectors, we are ensuring that every Qatari citizen receives timely and high-quality healthcare services.' This new agreement builds on the success of HMC's previous and continued collaboration with The View Hospital. QNA Doha The Ministries of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) and Sports and Youth have announced the launch of the second edition of the Outstanding Young Researchers Award, held this year under the theme 'Youth and Social Responsibility: Duties and Challenges... Qatari Society as a Model'. The award aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two parties and support efforts to empower Qatari and resident youth in the field of scientific research. Director of the Department of Islamic Research and Studies at Awqaf, Sheikh Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al Thani said that the award is a qualitative initiative targeting young researchers, seeking to encourage them to study the most pressing societal challenges and propose practical solutions that contribute to the advancement of society. He pointed out that the first edition of the award addressed the issue of late marriage and its impact on young people in Qatari society. He explained that the second edition features nine research themes addressing the legal, educational, and cultural dimensions of social responsibility, in addition to the role of values and national identity, voluntary work, and youth initiatives, as well as the intellectual, cultural, and economic challenges facing young people in shouldering this responsibility. For her part, Director of the Planning, Quality, and Innovation Department at the Ministry of Sports and Youth (MoSY), Maha Al Rumaihi said that the award represents one of the fruits of Qatar's National Youth Policy and reflects the Ministry's commitment to investing in the energies of young people, directing their interests toward serving the community, and fostering a balanced national character that is proud of its identity and capable of positively addressing challenges. She explained that the discussion of these issues by young researchers lends greater credibility to the proposal and enhances the effectiveness of its treatment. She also praised the efforts of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in supporting scientific research among young people. The award's organizing committee has set several conditions and criteria for participation, including that the researcher be Qatari or a resident of Qatar, between the ages of 20 and 39, and that the research be prepared specifically for the award in Arabic, according to precise scientific methodology. The research must be no less than 100 pages and no more than 150 pages (A4 size). Two copies (PDF and Word) must be sent to the designated email address, along with a CV and a copy of the contestant's ID card. Two or more researchers are permitted to participate in preparing the research, but the award may be withheld or withdrawn in the event of non-compliance with the conditions or the discovery of violations. The value of the prizes allocated to the winners amounts to more than QR200,000, with the first-place winner receiving QR100,000, the second-place winner receiving QR75,000, and the third-place winner receiving QR50,000. Sunday, July 5, 2026, has been set as the deadline for submitting participating in research papers. The scientific evaluation phase will begin immediately thereafter, considering precise criteria that include the quality of content, the depth of analysis, and the realism of the proposed solutions.
