Maddy Siegrist's return to Wings from knee injury delayed at least 1 more game
The Wings ruled Siegrist out of a game Friday night against the Indiana Fever a day after saying her 17-game absence because of a right knee fracture was set to end.
The Wings are playing the Fever at the home of the Dallas Mavericks. It's the second time the Wings will play at American Airlines Center.
Dallas faced the Fever at the AAC in late June, losing 94-86 when Caitlin Clark was sidelined by a groin injury. Clark returned after that, but this meeting with the Wings will be Clark's sixth consecutive game missed after the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year aggravated a groin injury.
Siegrist, the NCAA Division I scoring leader ahead of Clark when she played for Villanova in 2022-23, was limited to 11 games in an injury-plagued rookie season two years ago.
Siegrist has averaged 9.4 points and 5.2 rebounds in 11 games and had her only double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 boards the game before she was injured, an 81-65 loss to Minnesota on June 8.

Of the now-five-member group, Catchings still leads with nine honors during her memorable 15-year career with the franchise. Fever head coach Stephanie White surprised Boston with the news at Monday night's team dinner in Los Angeles, which drew a joyous celebration from her fellow teammates and coaches. Celtics trade Georges Niang to Utah Jazz, agree to deal with Chris Boucher
BOSTON (AP) — The Celtics are trading recently acquired forward Georges Niang and two future second-round draft picks to the Utah Jazz in exchange for rookie RJ Luis Jr., ESPN reported on Tuesday. In a separate deal, power forward Chris Boucher has agreed to a one-year, $3.3 million deal with the Celtics, his agent Sam Permut confirmed to The Associated Press. Boucher has spent the past seven seasons with Toronto, where he was part of its 2019 championship team. Niang is headed to Utah just a month after being dealt to Boston as part of a three-team deal that sent Kristaps Porzingis to Atlanta. Niang previously spent four seasons with Utah. He appeared in 79 games split between Atlanta and Cleveland last season when he averaged a career-high 9.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. Shedding the final year of Niang's salary for next season will save Boston $8 million in luxury taxes, and allow it to stay under the second penalty apron following Boucher's addition. ___ AP NBA:
