Fundraiser launched for family of Bali shooting victim Zivan Radmanovic

News.com.au18-06-2025
The wife of Bali shooting victim Zivan Radmanovic is still in Indonesia, a close friend has revealed in a desperate public plea for support.
Mr Radmanovic, 32, was shot and killed at a villa at the Badung Regency north of Kuta on Saturday.
His wife Jazmyn Gourdeas was in the villa but not physically injured.
A second man Sanar Ghanim, 34, was also shot during the attack.
An image shows Mr Ghanim being tended to by paramedics with his feet and face covered in blood.
Now, a fundraiser has been launched for Ms Gourdeas, with close family friend Jamie Lee revealing new details about the aftermath of the tragedy.
'This sudden and devastating loss has left Jazmyn a single mother to six beautiful children, aged from just 9 months to 13 years,' the fundraiser states.
'While only married for just under a year, the couple were deeply in love and shared a family together.
'Now Jazmyn faces the unimaginable challenge of caring for their large family alone, including three children diagnosed with epilepsy who require ongoing medication, therapies and frequent medical appointments.'
Ms Lee said Ms Gourdeas remained in Indonesia as the investigation into the killing progresses, and her family were taking care of the children in Australia.
The financial burden facing Ms Gourdeas would now be 'overwhelming', she added.
'Zivan was a kind, hardworking man devoted to his family,' she said.
'His loss leaves a huge hole in their lives, but together, we can help Jazmyn and her children find a way forward.
'Your donation – no matter the size – will help provide stability, care and comfort to a grieving family facing an uncertain future.'
As of Wednesday morning, $13,800 had been raised from a $20,000 target.
Indonesian police have arrested two people over the shooting of Mr Radmanovic and Mr Ghanim.
Media organisation Nusa Bali reported that one of the alleged offenders was arrested in Jakarta, while another person was captured abroad and was being taken to the Indonesian capital.
Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo held a press conference in Bali on Tuesday at the Jembrana Police Headquarters.
'Regarding the shooting involving Australian citizens, I have received a report from the Bali Police Chief. One suspect has been secured in Jakarta, and another is on the way from overseas,' the police chief told media.
'A more detailed statement will be released by Bali Police.
'What I can say for now is that this case was solved through co-operation between our Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim), Immigration, and the Australian Federal Police (AFP).'.
General Sigit did not release any information about identity of the alleged shooters but told media that Bali Regional Police would provide more detailed information.
It was reported there were two alleged offenders who might be Australian and the gunmen used firearms during the attack.
It was not clear what the motive was behind the attack.
Bali Regional Police Chief Daniel Adityajaya said his department would provide an update later.
'Once the evidence and documentation are complete, Bali Police will issue an official statement to the public and media,' he said.

Bali shooting suspects moved to notorious Kerobokan Prison

The suspects in an alleged shooting murder of a Melbourne man in Bali have been transferred to the island's most notorious prison as police weigh formal charges. Australians Darcy Jensen, 27, Mevlut Coskun, 22, and Paea I Middlemore Tupou, 26, are being held over the June 13 death of Zivan 'Stipe' Radmanovic Radmanovic's friend, Sanar Ghanim, was also shot when gunmen stormed their a villa near Munggu Beach but survived. Police previously revealed they would allege Sydney plumber Mr Jenson organised getaway vehicles and equipment while Mr Tupou and Mr Coskun carried out the attacks. The trio – dubbed the Bali 3 – were forced into a re-enactment by local police on Wednesday, and they were pictured wearing orange shirts with balaclavas and signs reading 'suspect 1', 'suspect 2' and 'suspect 3'. Badung Police chief Arif Batubara said after the re-enactments, the men were taken to Bali's largest prison, which has previously held high-profile inmates such as members of the Bali Bombers, Bali 9 and Schapelle Corby. 'After the reconstruction process ran smoothly and as planned, we hand over or detain the three suspects at Kerobokan Prison for further detention process,' he said. No charges have been laid, but police are reported to be considering charges of premeditated murder, which can carry the death penalty in Indonesia. Mr Coskun told 7News as he was being escorted from the re-enactment that he was 'not guilty' and would fight any charges. Asked what the conditions were like in custody, he replied 'terrible'. Police said last week's re-enactment was conducted to 'clarify each suspect's role in the incident, which resulted in serious injuries, and as part of the ongoing investigation'. The shooting has been linked to tensions in Melbourne's underworld and has been described as 'well organised' by Balinese police. 'We are certain these three are the perpetrators. They are Australian nationals according to their passports,' Bali Police Chief Daniel Adityajaya said.

Australian man falls from second floor of hotel in Bali's Kuta region

An Australian man has been rushed to hospital in Bali's popular party precinct of Kuta, after falling from the second floor of a hotel and suffering serious spinal injuries. The incident reportedly occurred around 4.25am on Saturday morning at Ramada Encore Hotel. Video footage from the fall has been released by Badung Fire Department, which shows emergency service crews lowering the unidentified man to the ground on a stretcher while he cries out in pain. 'I can't', 'oh my god', he could be heard saying in the grainy footage. Authorities confirmed the man to be in his 30s, and known only as Dylan. They said he had suffered a tailbone fracture as a result of the traumatic fall, with the cause not yet known. The horror fall comes just months after Australian DJ and OnlyFans creator, Courtney Mills, fell to her death from a balcony while in Kuta. The 37-year-old was visiting her two dogs in Bali when she fell. Ms Mills was rushed to hospital with critical injuries, and after undergoing several emergency operations, she died two days later. At the time, Ms Mills sister, Kiani, said her sibling had a 'sparkle' unlike any other. 'Our hearts are shattered as we share the devastating news of the sudden passing of our beloved Courtney Mills, in Bali,' she posted on Facebook. 'Courtney touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her light, sparkle, and spirit will forever remain with us. 'Courtney lived her life to the fullest and brought so much joy to those around her.'

Jail for former Indonesian trade minister over sugar imports a bitter blow for supporters

One of the architects of the Indonesia-Australia free trade deal and improved bilateral relations has been jailed in what supporters believe was a politically motivated prosecution designed to punish critics of the Indonesian government. Thomas Lembong was jailed for 4½ years for illegally authorising certain sugar imports at the expense of the state when he was serving as the nation's trade minister in 2015-16. Prosecutors requested a prison term of seven years, but a panel of judges gave Lembong a sentencing discount because they accepted he had not enriched himself in any of the supposedly corrupt deals. The Harvard-educated investment banker is respected in Australian political circles for his work in the cabinet of then-president Joko Widodo's cabinet and later as the chief of the country's investment board. Former Australian prime minister Malcolm Turnbull credited Lembong with facilitating what became a strong friendship between the Australian leader and Widodo. Loading But Lembong became a critic of Widodo in 2019. Significantly, he also served as an adviser to Anies Baswedan, who ran for president last year and was a serious challenger to Widodo's chosen successor, Prabowo Subianto. Anies could again run for president in 2029. Lembong was arrested in October, days after Prabowo was sworn in as Indonesia's leader and a decade after the supposed crimes. The timing and allegedly 'cherry-picked' charges against a high-profile opponent to the Widodo-Prabowo alliance set off red flags among democracy watchers. High-level corruption is common in Indonesia, and decisions about whom to prosecute and whom to leave alone are, rightly or wrongly, interpreted as signals from powerful people at the top.
