Ramadan and Eid e-commerce sales soar in MENA, led by Saudi Arabia and UAE, study shows

Eid Al-Fitr shopping this year is expected to see a 30 per cent jump in gift demand in terms of gross merchandise value (GMV) in MENA, market research said.
Along with an estimated over 150 per cent surge in gift demand during Ramadan 2025, the current festival shopping will also give a major boost to e-commerce sales in the region, the joint study by Flowwow, a UAE-based gifting marketplace, and Admitad, said.
The study, which analysed over 900,000 customer orders, forecasted a 10 per cent increase in online sales during the Eid Al-Fitr shopping period.
Shoppers in MENA are turning to online gifting during this time of generosity and family connection, the study said.
'The latest numbers confirm that this year's Ramadan sales in MENA have outpaced 2024, with a 9 per cent increase in total sales and an impressive 35 per cent growth in GMV. Saudi Arabia saw an even bigger e-commerce peak, with sales increased by 30 per cent and GMV rising 35 per cent,' the market study said.
With strong early Ramadan sales this year, Flowwow and Admitad experts predicted a record-breaking Eid Al-Fitr 2025, forecasting a 10 per cent rise in online sales and a 30 per cent increase in GMV compared to last year.
Anna Gidirim, CEO at Admitad, said the Ramadan and Eid season continues to be a peak period for e-commerce in the MENA region, driven by the growing consumer preference for online shopping and gifting.
'This trend is particularly pronounced in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, where digital retail adoption remains strong,' she said.
Ramadan and Eid average order value surge
A key trend observed during Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr is the average order value (AOV) increase from $41 to $49 year-over-year, particularly in top-spending countries such as Kuwait, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
Among MENA countries, Kuwait led the way with an average order value of $125, followed by Saudi Arabia at $86, the UAE at $83, Qatar at $53, and Jordan at $48.
'As Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr bring people together, we're seeing more shoppers choosing meaningful gifts to celebrate and strengthen their connections with loved ones,' said Slava Bogdan, CEO of Flowwow.
'Based on current trends, we expect Eid Al-Fitr 2025 to set new records, with gifting sales projected to grow by at least 50 per cent, compared to last year in the UAE,' she said.
Bogdan said flowers, sweets, and gourmet sets remain among the top choices, reflecting the blend of tradition and convenience.
Rise in mobile shopping
Online shopping during the Ramadan and Eid season also saw a jump in orders via mobile devices, accounting for over 40 per cent of all purchases in MENA.
Mobile-based orders were even higher in countries like Saudi Arabia (50+ per cent) and the UAE (up from 39 per cent to 47 per cent), the study said, adding that this surge is largely driven by younger generations like Gen-Z, who are fully accustomed to mobile-first, digital commerce.
The study said the gifting market is also intensifying, with more players entering the sector to meet the rising demand.
'Today's competitive landscape spans niche gifting marketplaces such as Floward, FNP and Flowwow, whereas e-commerce platforms like Amazon UAE, super-apps like Talabat, Deliveroo, and Careem, besides retailers and offline stores are also expanding beyond rides and food delivery, quickly launching gifting services to take advantage of the booming demand during Ramadan and Eid,' it said.

Luxury real estate investors in Dubai seek privacy, exclusivity and lifestyle amenities, according to research from MERED. The real estate developer behind ICONIC Residences Design by Pininfarina, released its buyer insights based on engagements during the first half of 2025. The report outlines shifting preferences among high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) investing in Dubai's premium residential market. The findings highlight a growing preference for lifestyle-led investments, functional layouts, and wellness-driven design, particularly among a younger generation of investors from sectors such as tech, digital finance, and crypto. Luxury Dubai real estate trends The report identifies the top factors influencing purchase decisions among Dubai's premium buyers: Privacy and exclusivity – 65 per cent Architectural quality and design – 60 per cent Location and connectivity – 55 per cent Long-term investment value – 50 per cent Lifestyle amenities and services – 45 per cent Capital appreciation potential – sought by nearly all investors Demand is strongest for one and two-bedroom layouts, which offer greater flexibility and are well suited to both personal use and short-term rental strategies. Purchases are becoming more purpose-driven, with 45 per cent buying for self-use, 30 per cent for investment, and 25 per cent opting for a hybrid model that combines both. Buyers aged between 40 and 50 still make up the majority of the market from diverse professional backgrounds, including finance, private equity, trading, legal, and healthcare. However, a growing number of younger buyers are entering the Dubai real estate market, said MERED. More than 85 per cent of buyers asked about amenities in their initial conversations, pointing to increasing demand for lifestyle-enhancing features: Private terraces, padel courts, yoga studios, and indoor cinemas Ice-spas, kids' play areas, and wellness-focused design Medical-grade air filtration and ultra-purified water systems Wooden flooring and heated bathrooms Michael Belton, CEO of MERED, said: 'Today's generation of investors is sophisticated and discerning, expecting timeless architecture, wellness integration, and a genuine sense of community. Dubai real estate: Branded residences sales surge 43% to generate $16.3bn in 2024

Dubai has cemented its position as the world capital for branded residences, recording sales of over 13,000 units in 2024 and generating transaction values of AED 60 billion, a new report finds. The emirate experienced a 43 per cent increase in branded residence sales compared to the previous year, with the sector now representing 8.5 per cent of Dubai's total real estate transaction value, new research from Betterhomes revealed. The market demonstrates buyers' willingness to pay premiums of 40 per cent to 60 per cent per square foot for branded properties over non-branded counterparts in the same locations. Dubai leads global branded residences market with 160% growth 'High-net-worth buyers are no longer just looking for property. They're investing in lifestyle, brand value, and long-term growth. Dubai offers all three, and that's why it's outperforming legacy markets like London and Miam,' Christopher Cina, Director of Sales at Betterhomes said. The city's regulatory framework offers 100 per cent foreign ownership, zero income tax, and long-term Golden Visas for investors, creating conditions that attract high-net-worth individuals from across the globe. Dubai maintains 140 branded real estate projects scheduled for completion by 2031, positioning the city ahead of global competitors including Miami, New York, and Phuket in both completed developments and pipeline projects. The sector has evolved beyond traditional hospitality brands such as Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton to include automotive marques like Mercedes-Benz, Bentley, and Bugatti; fashion houses including Armani and Missoni; and entertainment brands such as Cipriani. Developers have forged strategic partnerships with these global brands. Binghatti has partnered with Bugatti for Bugatti Residences, Arada collaborates with Armani for Armani Beach Residences, and Select Group works with Six Senses for Six Senses Residences. Master developers including Emaar, Meraas, and Nakheel have created brand-centric enclaves that define Dubai's luxury property landscape. Dubai's branded residences remain competitively priced compared to international markets. The research shows Dubai buyers pay an average premium of 157 per cent for branded residences, whilst Europe records 265 per cent, Thailand 270 per cent, and the USA nearly 500 per cent. Bvlgari Residences in Dubai commands AED 10,500 per square foot with a 166 per cent premium, whilst Bugatti Residences leads at a 237 per cent premium. In comparison, Miami's Aston Martin Residences reaches AED 25,000 per square foot with a 525 per cent premium. London's The OWO Residences are priced at AED 20,000 per square foot, but the research notes that high taxes and complex regulations reduce investor appeal in the UK market. The MENA region's branded residences are projected to reach 25 per cent market share by 2030, with Dubai leading the expansion. The research forecasts the number of regional projects will exceed 360 developments. 'Dubai outperforms global rivals, it is more affordable than Miami, more tax friendly than London, and offers a higher growth potential than Phuket,' the research concluded. The sector represents what researchers describe as 'a wider shift towards lifestyle-centric luxury real estate that redefines conventional notions of homeownership.'
