While it seems that a majority of people are excited for the upcoming DC Studios film "Superman" to finally hit theaters, a vocal subset of fans seem to be vehemently against the film and director James Gunn.
In a post on Reddit, a user called for fellow fans of the "Snyderverse," DC Comics movies that take place in the universe created by director Zack Snyder, to boycott "Superman" by reserving tickets without paying for them and review bombing the film online.
"Stand up and fight for SnyderVerse on July 11," the user said. "Fight for our SnyderVerse on the imposter 'Superman' release day."

"Gunn fired the first shot and killed the SnyderVerse, and here is our chance to take the fight back to him," the user concluded after detailing ways to hurt the movie financially.
Shortly afterward, Gunn replied, showing that he wasn't worried about the post having any effect on "Superman" at the box office.

Now, the Snydercut subreddit has released an official statement on the matter.

"Over the weekend, someone made a post on this subreddit suggesting that people do dishonest and questionable things with respect to an upcoming movie's release," the Snydercut moderators said after removing the post.
"The post had garnered few replies, and 0 upvotes, with no one else endorsing what it said. We later learned this post was screenshotted and shown on other social media platforms. We deleted it long before we knew that had happened.

"Our staff never approved that post and does not endorse what it said. This is a public sub, where posts do not have to be pre-approved. The mere appearance of a post on our sub does not represent any endorsement by us.
"Our moderators delete posts after they are made if they violate any of our policies or Reddit's policies. There was never any question that this post violated our policies, both explicitly and in spirit, and needed to be immediately removed.
"The post wasn't so much controversial as it was universally disapproved of. We support everyone's right to vote with their wallets by choosing not to see a movie. But we do not support any dishonesty or manipulation aimed at stopping someone else from choosing to see a movie."
