‘The Hunger Games' Stage Adaptation Sets Fall Premiere in London

Yahoo27-02-2025
'The Hunger Games' is heading to the London stage.
A new adaptation of Suzanne Collins' landmark young adult fantasy series will debut this October at the Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre, a theater-in-the-round space custom-built for an immersive take on the author's blockbuster 2008 novel.
The adaptation of the acclaimed book and Lionsgate motion picture starring Jennifer Lawrence will begin performances on Oct. 20.
Conor McPherson, heralded by the New York Times as the 'finest' playwright of his generation, adapted 'The Hunger Games' in this stage show. Matthew Dunster ('A Ghost Story,' 'The Pillowman') is attached to direct.
'I'm thrilled that 'The Hunger Games' is in the hands of gifted playwright Conor McPherson and accomplished director Matthew Dunster,' creator and author Collins said. 'Connor has done a fantastic adaptation, which is quite unique from the screenplay. And Matthew's immersive, dynamic staging gives the audience a brand-new way to experience the story.'
McPherson shared that he had a special connection to the project and reflected on the story's universal themes. 'As a dad to a teenager myself, it's especially gratifying working on a story whose values of resilience and moral courage speak to young people in these uncertain times.'
Both McPherson and Dunster promised the new adaptation would be as 'thrilling' and 'passionate' as the book and film were while also adding new elements that make it unique to the live theater experience.
''The Hunger Games' is one of the best book to movie adaptations of all time, inspiring audiences to think deeply about the world around them and the strength of the human spirit,' Jenefer Brown, EVP and head of global products and experiences at Lionsgate, said. 'We are honored to bring its powerful story, characters and world to the stage in this latest exciting chapter.'
'The Hunger Games' franchise currently encompasses four critically acclaimed novels that have sold over 100 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 52 languages. The blockbuster films' first installment premiered back in 2012 and together have grossed more than $3.4 billion at the box office. Collins' newest 'Hunger Games' novel, 'Sunrise on the Reaping,' will hit shelves March 18. The book is already being adapted into a major motion picture by Lionsgate and is slated to release on Nov. 20, 2026.
Joining McPherson and Dunster on the creative team are Miriam Buether, Moi Tran, Charlotte Broom, Lucy Carter, Ian Dickinson, Tal Rosner, Chris Fisher, Kev McCurdy, Suspended Illusions, James Maloney, Amy Ball CDG, James Robert Moore, Robyn Grant, Luke Smith and Lloyd Thomas.
'The Hunger Games: On Stage' is produced by Oliver Royds, Tristan Baker and Charlie Parsons for Runaway Entertainment, Isobel David and Umeda Arts Theater, by arrangement with Lionsgate.
Tickets for 'The Hunger Games: On Stage' will go on-sale at 1 p.m. GMT on March 27. You can sign-up for priority access to tickets at www.thehungergamesonstage.com.

THERMOMETER, for example, is a pretty long word – but I was totally oblivious to its existence, hanging around in the bottom right-hand corner, until the very end of my game. When I first started looking I thought that we were searching for animals you might buy at a pet shop, so after getting FISH I was searching in vain for dogs, cats, hamsters… Then after getting PUMP I joined the dots and found a home for the letter Q. An AQUARIUM must surely rank as one of the most neglected items in western homes – second perhaps to exercise bikes, purchased with grand plans of creating an exotic world filled with beautiful fish but then abandoned as they all eat each other and you realize fish aren't as beautiful as you first thought. Today's Quordle Hints (and Answer) for Wednesday, July 23, 2025

If you're looking for the Quordle answer for Wednesday, July 23, 2025, read on—I'll share some clues, tips, and strategies, and finally the solution. Beware, there are spoilers below for July 23, Quordle #1276! Keep scrolling if you want some hints (and then the answer) to today's Quordle game. (If you play Wordle, Connections, and Strands, check out our hints for those games, too.) How to play Quordle Quordle lives on the Merriam-Webster website. A new puzzle goes live every day. If you've never played, it's a twist on The New York Times' daily Wordle game, in which you have a limited number of attempts to guess a five-letter mystery word. In Quordle, though, you're simultaneously solving four Wordle-style puzzles, and each of your guesses gets applied to the four puzzles simultaneously. Due to the increased difficulty, Quordle grants you nine guesses (12 if you play on 'Chill' mode, or eight if you play on 'Extreme'), rather than Wordle's six. To start, guess a five-letter word. The letters of the word in each of the four quadrants will turn green if they're correct, yellow if you have the right letter in the wrong place, or gray if the letter isn't in that secret word at all. Ready for the hints? Let's go! Can you give me a hint for today's Quordle? Upper left: Protective layer Upper right: Currency Lower left: Benefit of an exit row seat Lower right: Bigger side-to-side Does today's Quordle have any double or repeated letters? Upper left: Yes, a repeated vowel. Upper right: No. Lower left: Yes, a double vowel. Lower right: No. What letters do today's Quordle words start with? Upper left: O Upper right: P Lower left: R Lower right: W What letters do today's Quordle words end with? Upper left: E Upper right: E Lower left: Y Lower right: R What is the solution to today's Quordle? Upper left: OZONE Upper right: PENCE Lower left: ROOMY Lower right: WIDER How I solved today's Quordle I'll start with SLATE and MOUND, as always. That gets me a few hits. I'll try CRONE for the upper left. Not quite, but the O is in the right spot and I got yellows in the other words. Maybe PHONE? Nope, time to move on. I think PENCE makes the most sense for the upper right. There we go. ROOMY might fit the bottom left. Yep. Ah, ROOMY just let me know that there are actually two Os in the upper left, which means it has to be OZONE. I'll try WIDER for the bottom right. Got it! The best starter words for Quordle What should you play for that first guess? We can look to Wordle for some general guidelines. The best starters tend to contain common letters, to increase the chances of getting yellow and green squares to guide your guessing. (And if you get all grays when guessing common letters, that's still excellent information to help you rule out possibilities.) There isn't a single 'best' starting word, but The New York Times's Wordle analysis bot has suggested starting with one of these: CRANE TRACE SLANT CRATE CARTE Meanwhile, an MIT analysis found that you'll eliminate the most possibilities in the first round by starting with one of these: SALET REAST TRACE CRATE SLATE Other good picks might be ARISE or ROUND. Words like ADIEU and AUDIO get more vowels in play, but you could argue that it's better to start with an emphasis on consonants, using a starter like RENTS or CLAMP. Choose your strategy, and see how it plays out. Solve the daily Crossword
