QR code based payment system in gram panchayats of trans-Yamuna region
Prayagraj: In a step toward transparency and digital governance, the Prayagraj district administration has decided to implement a QR code-based payment system in 1,453 gram panchayats of the Yamunapar region. The system aims to curb irregularities and ensure that only authorised individuals, including the gram pradhans (village heads) and secretaries, can access and process payments. The remaining gram panchayats are expected to be brought under the same system within the next week, with preparations already underway. For years, there were consistent complaints regarding irregularities in payment processes within gram panchayats. Reports reached the administration that unauthorised persons were using the official dongles meant for gram pradhans to execute financial transactions, raising serious concerns about misuse of power and funds. To address this issue and make the system more secure and transparent, the govt mandated the use of both face scanning and QR code verification for all payment-related activities. As part of this initiative, photographs of pradhans and secretaries from 1,540 gram panchayats were uploaded onto the e-Gram Swaraj portal. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Why seniors are rushing to get this Internet box – here's why!
