Police seize 200 kg of ganja worth Rs 15 lakh in Vijayawada
VIJAYAWADA: NTR police on Wednesday arrested two persons and seized 200 kg of ganja worth approximately Rs 15 lakh under Krishna Lanka PS limits. NTR District Commissioner of Police, SV Rajashekhar Babu, said the accused—Andi Nagaraju (26) of Bheemunipatnam and Anbalagan Sinrasu—were transporting ganja from the Visakhapatnam Agency area to Tamil Nadu when police intercepted them during a vehicle inspection drive.
Acting on a tip-off, Krishna Lanka SI Bhanu Prasad and his team, along with the Vijayawada EAGLE unit, conducted checks near Geethanagar Katta. Police first stopped a Swift Dzire and discovered bags of ganja, taking the driver into custody. Meanwhile, the driver of a Tata goods vehicle approaching the same checkpoint attempted to flee but was also apprehended.
The Commissioner said prime accused Nagaraju, originally from Madurai, had settled in Thagarapuvalasa. Learning of the high demand for ganja in Chennai, he began sourcing it from nearby agency areas at low prices and smuggling it to Tamil Nadu.
Despite two prior arrests and jail time, Nagaraju resumed smuggling after his release. In this attempt, they loaded 100 kg of ganja in Nagaraju's car and another 100 kg in a mini goods vehicle, both heading towards Chennai. Police arrested both accused under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and seized the two vehicles used in the operation. Further investigation is ongoing.

The delivery was meant for two Bengaluru-based dealers, Apple Auto Agency in Banashankari and Aryan Auto Agency in successfully dropped off some bikes at Apple Auto on June 22. But while heading to Bidarahalli later that night, he lost his way near East Point Hospital in Virgonagar. At around 2am, with hardly anyone on the road, he parked the truck by the roadside and walked into the hospital to ask for directions, leaving the keys in the when the thieves struck. In just a few minutes, they drove away with the had left both his mobile phone and wallet in the truck, making it hard for him to call for help. After failing to find the vehicle nearby, he walked to Aryan Auto Agency early the next morning. He informed employee Jagadish, borrowed his phone, and called the truck owner. However, they had damaged both sides of the bike, taken its mirrors, silencer, batteries, and the key set. They had also stolen Rs 3,000 in cash and Nanda's mobile phone.A case was filed under BNS Section 303 (theft) at Avalahally police station. Online betting rampant in Telangana, majority aged 18-25; low-income groups 79% report losing over Rs 50,000
HYDERABAD: A majority of people involved in online gambling and betting in Telangana are aged between 18 and 25, according to a survey conducted by the Public Response Against Helplessness and Action for Redressal (PRAHAR), an NGO. The findings were revealed on Friday at an event titled 'Click:Bet:Repeat: Consumer Survey on the Forces Driving Online Betting and Gambling', held in Telangana, where online betting is banned. It found that the majority of the respondents who placed bets came from low-income backgrounds, with nearly 38% of them earning a monthly income of less than Rs 15,000. The study focussed on users accessing betting platforms through apps available on the Play Store, as well as through links available on Telegram or advertisements on social media. 'Telegram popular choice' "Players are careful not to reveal their true identities while betting, which makes VPNs the most popular choice - used by 69% of respondents. Telegram links are the second popular choice at 20%," said president of PRAHAR Abhay Raj, during a press findings highlighted that online betting continues unabated in the state despite the ban. "For instance, 87% of the respondents said they engage in online gambling every day, and 89% of the respondents said betting sites are easily accessible. Most of the respondents - 96% - knew that it was illegal too," the survey found. The majority of them said they were drawn into the betting to make easy money. "The prospects of winning large sums from meagre investment attracts 86% of users, while 56% continue betting because they believe others are winning big," a member from the NGO said. The respondents claimed that they had lost more than they invested. According to the data, 79% of punters reported losses exceeding Rs 50,000. He recommended that Telangana consider implementing a conditional ban, similar to the one followed in Tamil Nadu.

Rajasthan Cop Caught With Rs 9 Lakh Bribe In Car, Rs 30 Lakh Found In House
Jaipur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has caught an additional superintendent of police for alleged bribe money of Rs 9.35 lakh, an official statement issued here on Friday said. Jagaram Meena, the accused additional superintendent of police (ASP), was coming to Jaipur from Jhalawar in a car on Friday evening. The ACB team stopped the car at Shivdaspura toll post and found Rs 9.35 lakh during search. The ASP could not answer about this money, the statement said. The ACB later searched the house of Meena in Kesar Nagar, Jagatpura. About Rs 30 lakh were found in the house. ACB Director General (DG) Dr Ravi Prakash Meharda said the Intelligence Wing received information that ASP Meena is coming to Jaipur from Jhalawar with a huge amount of bribe. Based on this input, a trap was laid to nab the accused officer. Further investigation is underway, he added.
