Katy Perry returns to Austin after 14 years with Moody Center show in May

Yahoo30-01-2025
Calling all KatyCats! The pop star will be performing at Moody Center on May 20. Austin is one of three Texas stops for the Lifetimes Tour, which has nine planned shows for its U.S. leg. Ticket pre-sales start Thursday at 10 a.m. and general sales begin at 10 a.m. on Friday.
This will be the first time back in Austin in 14 years for Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, aka Katy Perry. The 'Dark Horse' singer was last in town during her California Dreams Tour where she took the stage at the Frank Erwin Center in July 2011. Before that, she came for the South by Southwest Music Festival in 2008 and 2009. The Lifetimes Tour consists of 75 concerts that span across North and South America, Europe, and Australia. This is her first tour since her 'Witness' run seven years ago.
Katy Perry is starting the U.S. stretch of her international tour on May 7 in Houston in support of her seventh studio album '143' which was released in November 2024 through Capitol Records. The album's title '143' is the phrase 'I love you' represented by a letter count of each word. Perry also stated in an Apple Music interview that she chose the title '143' to reflect the 143 million records she has sold throughout her career.
With over 15,000 seats, Moody Center has become the go-to arena for popular touring artists since opening in 2022. Located on the University of Texas at Austin campus at 2001 Robert Dedman Drive, the venue gives you the option to pre-purchase a parking spot at one of five nearby parking garages ahead of the show: Manor Garage, Trinity Garage, Parking Garage B, State Garage G and State Garage R. The ADA drop-off and pick-up area is located northwest of the venue on Robert Dedman Drive. The box office is at the southwest corner of the arena.
There are two entrances, on the west and east sides of the building. Guests must pass through metal detectors and a bag search before entry.
At the end of the night, designated rideshare drop-off and pick-up is on Clyde Littlefield Drive. The roads surrounding Moody Center get congested after events, so expect a slow departure from the area, but hot dog vendors are often stationed outside if you're hungry for a late-night snack.
Moody Center permits clear bags that do not exceed 14″ x 14″ x 6″ or small clutch purses that do not exceed 5″ x 9″ x 1.5″ for their events. The venue prohibits recording equipment apart from smartphones. There is also no smoking permitted on the premises, including vapes. Find a full list of allowed and prohibited items at moodycenteratx.com.
There are two levels inside the arena, with entrance portals labeled to identify the section where you're seated. Upper-level seating is terraced and Moody Center does permit binoculars. Front-of-stage seating is also available for purchase, but the space is a standing area for some concerts. Premium suites are also available. The venue follows a 'no re-entry policy.' Guests who exit the building during an event will not be admitted back inside. However, if you need some air, there is a spacious balcony on the second level.
Inside the complex, you will find a variety of food and beverage options available for purchase from vendors, including pizza slices from Tony C's, brisket sandwiches from Stubb's Bar-B-Q, and ice cream cones from Mister Softee. Alcohol is also available for purchase. All transactions at Moody Center are completely cashless and prices tend to be steep. There are no water refill stations at the venue, but there are frequently water coolers outside on hot days.

Katy Perry And Orlando Bloom Finally Address Their Split After Calling It Quits On Decade-Long Romance

Representatives for Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have officially addressed the couple's split, weeks after it was revealed they had separated. In a joint statement, they revealed that while the romantic chapter of their relationship has come to an end, their focus remains on co-parenting their daughter. Previous reports noted that Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom's split was "amicable," which the statement from the reps seemed to confirm. The Former Couple Is Focused On Co-Parenting Their Daughter Daisy After weeks of silence surrounding the rumored split between Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, reps for the couple have confirmed that the separation has indeed happened. In a joint statement shared with Us Weekly, they stated that the couple's relationship has been "shifting" over the "past many months" from romance to a focus on co-parenting. "They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect," the reps added about the duo who share a 4-year-old daughter. For now, it remains unclear what the co-parenting arrangement entails, particularly given Perry's ongoing tour, which has kept her busy for months. The Couple's Split Was 'Amicable' The statement from the stars' reps comes after news first broke about Perry and Bloom ending their nearly decade-long romance. At the time, it was reported that the split was "amicable," even though things between them had been "tense for months." "It's not contentious at the moment. Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life," a source said about Perry and Bloom, per US Weekly. Throughout the tense months, the Hollywood stars were reportedly "spending more and more time apart," according to a different insider. The source also hinted at the reason for their split, saying, "They've grown apart and aren't living the same lives anymore." Katy Perry And Orlando Bloom's Friends Were Aware Of Their 'Issues' While the public only recently learned about Perry and Bloom's rough patch, a source claimed that their friends were well aware of the issues. "It's an unspoken thing that they are having issues and have for a while now," said the insider. "Everyone around them knows." According to the source, Bloom had tried to keep his relationship issues with the singer "close to the vest." However, it became even more apparent as he was "out and about more often" without her while she was on her "Lifetimes Tour." They also claimed that the couple "never set a date for the wedding" despite being engaged since 2019. Katy Perry's Tour Caused The 'Biggest Disruption' To Her Romance With Orlando Bloom Previous reports that swirled amid Perry and Bloom's rough patch also suggested that the singer's ongoing tour largely contributed to the breakup. A source stated that it caused the "biggest disruption" to what she shared with Bloom, due to the extensive preparation, rehearsals, and travel that had gone into it. "Katy and Orlando have been disconnected for a while now, and with their work commitments have been living separate lives," the insider said at the time, per The Sun. "They have barely been together for a decent amount of time, without distractions, for many, many months," they added. "It has been 'go, go, go' and they thrived when they enjoyed a more settled life, being together in the same place for a length of time. But that has just not happened." PR Expert Says Orlando Bloom's Split From Katy Perry Was 'Well Timed' For His Career Bloom recently joined other celebrities, including Tom Brady and Kim Kardashian, at the luxurious wedding ceremony for Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez in Venice. At the event, the actor was seen mingling with various women and generally having a good time as a newly single man. In a chat with the Daily Mail, PR expert Chad Teixeira said the split between the couple has been "incredibly well-timed" for Bloom, whether it happened "intentionally or coincidentally," as it seemingly affords him the opportunity to launch a "soft rebrand" after being in the "Roar" singer's "shadow" for years. "The breakup has created a brand window for Orlando, and one that he's stepping into with just the right amount of presence," Teixeira claimed. "He's not chasing the spotlight, but he's not hiding either. That's a savvy move in today's fame economy, and it'll stand him in better stead when Katy's fame is disappearing more than ever." Katy Perry Raises Eyebrows As She's Seen On A Date With Justin Trudeau After Split From Orlando Bloom

Katy Perry was spotted enjoying a dinner date with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as her tour stop in Canada gets underway. The "Roar" hitmaker, who recently split from her ex-fiancé Orlando Bloom, has been struggling to keep her "composure" while performing breakup songs during her shows. Katy Perry recently sparked concern when she nearly fell off a flying prop during her tour stop in San Francisco. Katy Perry Seen On Date With Justin Trudeau Katy Perry isn't just in Canada for her tour, as she has also taken time to enjoy the company of the country's former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. According to photos obtained by TMZ, the 40-year-old singer was seen on a dinner date with Trudeau at Le Violon in Montreal on Monday night. Perry looked so invested in their conversation and often leaned in across the table as they spoke. Sources told the news outlet that the pair sipped cocktails and shared several dishes, including one with lobster. They weren't alone in the private establishment, as security guards reportedly hung around to keep tabs on them and monitor things from the mirrored glass. At some point, the chef came over to their table to exchange pleasantries with them, and after their meal, they returned the gesture as they headed to the kitchen to thank the staff. It remains unknown if this was a romantic date or just a friendly hangout. The Singer Has Had Some Challenges In Her Personal Life Amid Her World Tour Perry is currently in Canada as part of her ongoing "Lifetimes" world tour, and would be performing tonight at the Canadian Tire Centre (formerly Scotiabank Place) in Ottawa, before heading to Montreal tomorrow for another show. Her tour was earlier plagued with issues of low ticket sales as well as unfinished venue construction, which led to some of her shows in Mexico being cancelled. Things compounded for the worse as she suffered a very public backlash following her all-female trip to space with Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin. Just when fans thought she'd be getting a break, her relationship with longtime fiancé Orlando Bloom ended. Despite the emotional setback, Perry hasn't stopped giving fans the time of their lives and took things to new heights when she rode on a flying prop during her show in San Francisco on July 18. Katy Perry's Prop Malfunctioned Mid-Air In multiple fan videos seen on social media, the pop star was performing her 2013 hit "Roar" while riding on the prop. It then tilted and dropped, causing her to lose her balance for a bit. In some clips, Perry looked back up at the prop wires and down at the audience before continuing with her performance, per USA Today. She later took to her Instagram stories to share a blurred, zoomed-in picture of her reaction to the incident, captioning the post "Good Night San Fran." The Singer Struggles To Keep Her 'Composure' Performing Breakup Song Following her split from Bloom, the "California Gurls" singer has seemingly found it difficult to maintain her "composure" while having to perform her breakup songs on tour. Perry usually gives fans the chance to choose a song for her to perform, but was quite uncomfortable with those who voted for her to sing "Not Like the Movies" during her Inglewood, California, concert earlier this month. "You're gonna make me sing this song in this time in my life?" she asked, referencing her and ex-fiancé Bloom's recent split, per People Magazine. "OK, we'll do it! Because you voted for it. … I'm gonna try not to cry. Don't worry. I won't cry." She explained that the song dated back to her "first divorce" from ex-husband Russell Brand. Perry told fans, who also voted for her to perform "The One That Got Away," that she would "try and hold [her] composure while sing[ing] it a week before [her] period." Katy Perry And Orlando Bloom Are Focused On 'Coparenting' According to Us Weekly, the "Teenage Dream" singer and the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor confirmed their split in a joint statement where they shared that they're now focusing on raising their daughter, Daisy. "Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry's relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting," a statement from their reps read. "They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is – and always will be – raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect," they added. According to Page Six, a source shared that their split had been "a long time coming" as things between them had been "tense" more recently. "It's not contentious at the moment. Katy is, of course, upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life," the insider shared at the time. Solve the daily Crossword
