Prince William and Princess Kate have a non-negotiable rule in place for their trusted staff in order to shield their three children, insisting on a no-gossip policy to protect their family's privacy.
The Prince and Princess of Wales, along with their kids—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—moved into Adelaide Cottage in 2022. Despite it being a modest four-bed home without live-in staff, a small team does pop in when needed, including nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, a gardener, and a housekeeper.
Their extended team operates from 'the office' at Kensington Palace. Previously, a role advertised on the Royal household's site highlighted the need for confidentiality as an essential criteria labelling the position as an 'exciting opportunity' within a supportive environment.

Crucially, members of the household staff are expected to refrain entirely from gossiping, with the advert placing emphasis on "maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion".
There's also a twist when it comes to staff dress code at their residence; per Valentine Low, author of Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown, a source disclosed to The Sun that casual outfits trump formal attire, suggesting an informal approach is preferred, reports the Mirror.
A source has shared with the public that the Cambridge children enjoy a lively presence at home, as their father Prince William shuns formality: "The kids run around the office, and he [William] does not want it to be stuffy. If we have important meetings or are going to Buckingham Palace, then, of course, we [dress up],".
Even in their residence at Adelaide Cottage, the practical couple have opted to skip adding a butler to their team, Royal biographer Robert Hardman reveals in his new book 'New King, New Court': "The couple did not seek to boost the staff numbers at Adelaide Cottage, not least because there would be little room to do so. Reports that the Prince was hiring a valet were knocked back."
Hardman points out that while the Kensington Palace staff does include a versatile 'yeoman', there is no traditional 'gentleman's gentleman' or butler in the mix: "The Kensington Palace team does include a 'yeoman', a multi-tasking attendant who looks after everything from luggage to uniforms, but there is no 'gentleman's gentleman' on the staff. 'And certainly no butler,' adds one source. 'It's very much them at home with the kids.'".
In related insights about the personal lives of William and Kate, an insider previously told the Daily Mail how surprisingly normal life is within their walls: "I think it would surprise people to see how ordinary things are at home. The children help with laying the table, clearing their plates when they've finished eating, and tidying up. There's no preferential treatment."
This inside look into Royal staff recruitment follows reports of the ingenious strategy used by the late Queen's head of recruitment, Tracey Waterman. She revealed the uniform method of testing potential cleaners to assess their response - those who succeeded secured the roles.
Tracey Waterman revealed a unique test used to gauge the attention to detail of potential Royal housekeepers during Channel 5's documentary 'Sandringham: The Royals at Christmas'. She said: "The difference between a housekeeper in a five-star hotel and in a royal palace would be attention to detail.
"One of the tests I like to do, to see if a candidate has a potential eye for detail, is to place a dead fly, either in the fireplace or on the carpet. Once the dead fly is placed, I then bring the candidate into the room.
"I lead them into the room quite slowly, just giving them a chance to glance at the room, have a little look at what we've got inside the room. Bringing them to the fireplace, maybe highlighting that we've got a beautiful fireplace."
Waterman hopes this subtle hint will alert them to the presence of the dead fly. She concluded: "It's a great test. Maybe out of 10 people, half the candidates will notice the fly. One out of ten will actually bend down and pick it up. That's the special housekeeper."

BREAKING: Gregg Wallace reveals how he feels about Rod Stewart after singer's 'tubby' swipe

Former MasterChef star Gregg Wallace has addressed comments made by Sir Rod Stewart and revealed what he really thinks of the legendary rocker. In December 2024, Sir Rod alleged that the presenter "humiliated" his wife Penny Lancaster on Celebrity MasterChef in 2021, following Wallace stepping away from the BBC programme while the show's production company Banijay UK investigates claims of misconduct. The veteran singer wrote: "So Greg Wallace gets fired from Master Chef. Good riddance Wallace… You humiliated my wife when she was on the show, but you had that bit cut out didn't you? You're a tubby, bald-headed, ill-mannered bully. Karma got ya. Sir Rod Stewart." Loose Women star Penny said the following month that that she did not know her husband was going to make accusations about Wallace's behaviour until she saw a post on Instagram. Gregg Wallace says 'I'm not a sex pest' as he slams 'horrific' reaction to his BBC axe Wallace, who was formally sacked from the BBC earlier this month following an inquiry into his alleged misconduct, has now discussed Sir Rod and Penny's comments. In an interview with The Sun, where he also reveals how he feels about his former co-host John Torode's MasterChef exit, Wallace said: "I'm actually a Rod Stewart fan. I've been to see him twice. So that hurt me. Somebody like that carries a lot of weight. But there was no bullying and no harassing." Speaking about Sir Rod's Instagram post on Loose Women in December, Penny admitted: "I didn't realise my husband had sent that post out until it was out. And of course, you can imagine the influx of inquiries there were. "I most definitely was witness and victim to some of the bullying and harassment behaviour of Gregg Wallace, and unfortunately, a lot of those involved in the production team were also witness to that, and I really feel that he used his position of power to, I believe, intimidate and cause distress to a lot of people on set. "And it's really unfortunate that someone like him is allowed to get away with that, and while others sort of stand by and let it happen at the same time." She added that she was 'in shock' by Sir Rod's message, recalling: "I felt a little bit vindicated that something was put out there, going back to sort of that whole Me Too (movement), it's shocking to think how many women do suffer in the hands of… (men) in a powerful position and are too afraid to talk out. "They don't feel at the time that they're going to be supported or listened to. So sometimes it can take a few years later for someone to mention something. It gives the other victims and people that have suffered the confidence to come forward." Following the BBC confirming his exit from MasterChef earlier this month, in the wake of a report that saw 45 out of 83 allegations made against him upheld, Wallace said: "For eight months, my family and I have lived under a cloud. Trial by media, fuelled by rumour and clickbait. "None of the serious allegations against me were upheld. I challenged the remaining issue of unwanted touching but have had to accept a difference in perception, and I am deeply sorry for any distress caused. It was never intended." The report found that the "majority of the allegations against Mr Wallace (94%) related to behaviour which is said to have occurred between 2005 and 2018', with only one allegation substantiated after 2018. It also concluded that the 'majority of the substantiated allegations against Mr Wallace related to inappropriate sexual language and humour', adding that 'a smaller number of allegations of other inappropriate language and being in a state of undress were also substantiated', with 'one incident of unwelcome physical contact' also substantiated. The report noted that during the course of the investigation, which was over a seven-month period, Wallace was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, and said that the findings should be viewed in the context of his neurodiversity. In his statement, Wallace added: 'I'm relieved that the Banijay report fully recognises that my behaviour changed profoundly in 2018. Some of my humour and language missed the mark. I never set out to harm or humiliate. I always tried to bring warmth and support to MasterChef, on screen and off. 'After nearly 20 years on the show, I now see that certain patterns, shaped by traits I've only recently begun to understand, may have been misread. I also accept that more could have been done, by others and by myself, to address concerns earlier.' 'A late autism diagnosis has helped me understand how I communicate and how I'm perceived. I'm still learning.'

From delays to 'sub-par' performances with barely any singing - insiders reveal what's really going on with Justin Timberlake's world tour

Justin Timberlake 's world tour has been mired in controversy since his DWAI arrest in the Hamptons, where he made headlines when he told the officer, 'This is going to ruin the tour.' Since his much-publicized brush with the law in Sag Harbor, Timberlake's tour has been plagued with a slew of issues, including wardrobe malfunctions, low ticket sales, last-minute cancelations, feuds with his staff, and now, accusations of 'lazy' performances. Earlier in July, an explosive video surfaced of Timberlake, 44, completely losing it on his stage crew in the middle of his set at England's Lytham Festival. The viral clip showed the pop star trying to keep his cool after sound issues disrupted his performance of Cry Me a River. Timberlake seemingly had a meltdown, and launched into a furious tirade before storming away from his stunned team. But that's not the end of his touring woes. Now, the pop superstar is facing backlash from his fans for his tour stops in Romania and Ireland as they accuse him of a 'lazy' lip sync and demand that he's canceled for wasting his fans money. Daily Mail can exclusively reveal the drama behind his controversial concerts... and why his wife Jessica Biel is pleading with him to give up touring amid the brutal backlash. One insider told the Daily Mail that the SexyBack singer is 'in a rut' amid his flailing tour and desperately 'needs to do something new.' After he played Romania, a viral TikTok received 460,000 likes after a fan who paid 'a lot of money' to see him called him 'an absolute disappointment.' The Social Network star was late getting onstage, and then apparently only sang about five words of each song, according to concert-goers. He also wore glasses and a hat, so the audience couldn't see him, leading many to walk out in anger. 'You can't be singing two songs and then taking a break,' the content creator said, calling his behavior 'rude' and 'disrespectful,' before asking him to 'rethink' the concept behind his tour. The 'lackluster' performance was so embarrassing that multiple fans demanded a refund. In Dublin, his performance was much the same, as showcased by videos of Timberlake dropping the mic and simply walking around the stage lazily, without doing the dance moves he's known for. The same insider divulged that Timberlake 'wants to create new music and to do something he hasn't done yet' but feels stuck singing the same old songs he's been performing for decades, leaving him unmotivated. While there have been murmurs that he would reunite with his boy band NSYNC, it has yet to come to fruition. The reunion rumors reached a fever pitch as their former competitors the Backstreet Boys reunited at the Las Vegas Sphere as part of a historic residency. In fact, fans online begged Timberlake to rejoin his former boy band, joking that if he wanted to sing so little during his recent tour dates, he should at least have the others join him onstage. 'It's embarrassing how he's been basically doing karaoke,' the insider agreed. 'He knows that he's lost his mojo and he really wants it back.' A separate source weighed in on the state of his marriage, and how the tour has been leading to issues with his actress wife. The couple share two children, Silas, 10, and Phineas, four. 'Jessica thinks Justin has aged years since he started The Forget Tomorrow World Tour last April,' the insider claimed. While the tour is set to end on July 30, with stops left in Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey, Biel, 43, has seen 'how it has taken its toll on him, not just physically but emotionally.' Timberlake's devoted wife has stood by him amid multiple high-profile controversies, including in 2019, when he was caught holding hands with actress Alisha Wainwright during a night out in New Orleans. Now, Biel is worried that he's 'taken on way too much,' with the insider adding that 'he's no longer a twentysomething who can fly around the world doing concert after concert.' While Timberlake previously reigned supreme in the pop world, he's been met with lackluster sales and even worse reviews throughout the tour. Some locations have even dropped tickets to embarrassingly low prices while he's also performed to half full venues. It hasn't helped Timberlake's case that he's been forced to cancel a number of concerts with short notice, leaving fans fuming after they spent money and in some cases even traveled to the shows before getting the news that he wasn't taking the stage. In February, the Cry Me a River singer canceled the final show on his U.S. tour at Columbus, Ohio's Nationwide Arena Thursday, claiming he was sick. The shock announcement came only four months after he canceled his October 23 concert at the same venue amid a bout with laryngitis and bronchitis. It's not just his fans that are upset. The insider spilled that one reason Timberlake has been upset is because 'ticket sales haven't been as buoyant as he'd hoped.' 'He's become short tempered both on and off stage,' the source divulged.

John Torode looks serious in first public appearance since MasterChef sacking

John Torode has been spotted in public for the first time since he was sacked as a presenter on BBC series MasterChef. The TV presenter and chef, 60, was removed from the cooking competition alongside his co-host Gregg Wallace, also 60, earlier this month. Wallace stepped away from MasterChef in November last year as an in-depth investigation was conducted into the historical allegations regarding his behaviour on the show. It was found that 45 out of 83 allegations were upheld following the investigation, with Wallace saying he was 'deeply sorry' for his past actions but insisted the most serious allegations were unproven. Days later, it emerged that co-host Torode's contract would not be renewed after nine complaints were lodged against him – among which was a claim that he 'used the N-word' on two separate occasions. Torode's removal as presenter – which was confirmed on July 14 – came in spite of his insistence that he had no memory of either incident ever taking place. Now, just over a week later, he's been spotted out in public for the first time since it was revealed that he was also investigated as part of the Silkins report. He was spotted on Wednesday July 23 on his 60th birthday visiting an organic food store near his home in north London. A source told The Sun that John had decided to have 'a quiet birthday meal' with his wife Lisa Faulkner and some close friends, adding: 'It's been an incredibly difficult time for him.' Accompanying Torode was his family dog, Rory, a schnauzer, with the TV host holding Rory's lead in one hand and a reusable blue and white shopping bag in the other. He opted for casual clothes, donning a navy blue t-shirt and matching blue jogging trousers, completing his look with black and white trainers. In the images taken on Wednesday, Torode appeared not to acknowledge the photographers, choosing instead to carry on with his day as normal. Despite the revelations of the investigation, the BBC has said that the series of MasterChef filmed before Wallace and Torode's sackings will air as normal. 'MasterChef is an amazing competition which is life-changing for the amateur chefs taking part. The focus of it has always been their skill and their journey.' More Trending The spokesperson revealed that it had 'not been an easy decision in the circumstances' and acknowledged that not everyone would agree with the final result. They added: 'In showing the series, which was filmed last year, it in no way diminishes our view of the seriousness of the upheld findings against both presenters. 'We have been very clear on the standards of behaviour that we expect of those who work at the BBC or on shows made for the BBC.'
