Coachella 2025: Easter costumes, a gorgeous sunset and other highs and lows from Sunday
Although the day featured fewer surprises than Friday or Saturday of Weekend 2, it still held captivating performances from the likes of Post Malone, Jennie, Megan Thee Stallion and more.
Walking into Coachella on Sunday, the parking attendants cheered on attendees by shouting out the holidays taking place. Easter, Passover and the marijuana-themed 4/20 both occurred on Sunday. Judging from the smoke emitting from the Empire Polo Club the entire day, it seemed pretty obvious which holiday festivalgoers celebrated. That's not to say no one took note of the Christian holiday, however. Someone dressed as the Easter bunny wandered the grounds, while bunny ears and crosses could be seen throughout the day.
There's nothing like a childhood game to rekindle the joys of being a kid. That happened at around 5:20 p.m. on Sunday during Ben Böhmer's set. As the German DJ played melodic house music, attendees fanned a rainbow parachute as others ran beneath it. The activity evoked many memories of elementary school for me, and I know I wasn't the only one thinking it. It proved to be such a good idea that dozens of people ran toward the parachute as soon as it was unveiled by an anonymous spectator.
Coachella attendees know to look out at sunset for the golden hues of the sun setting below the mountains. They were treated to quite the treat on Sunday, with the clouds changing into a pinkish orange color as the sky darkened. Dozens of people took out their phones to snap the special moment. It was the perfect way to close out an epic weekend.
Honorary high from the editor: Jessie Murph crushed her Weekend 2 set Sunday and used the performance as an opportunity to not only cover Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats," but also to break the news of her upcoming tour.
By the last day of the festival, the grass in certain parts of the Empire Polo Club has been trampled into oblivion. High-traffic areas have been ground to bare dirt, and the dust is kicked up into the air. It's unavoidable, in a dry environment where hundreds of thousands of people have walked, but it's still a bit of a downer when you sit down and get little pieces of dead grass on your shorts.
Usually sound issues are a Weekend 1 thing, but this year, fans of Beabadoobee were subjected to an unreliable mix that drowned out some of the high-pitched tones. The mic also cut out during Beabadoobee's first song, creating an awkward beginning. The mixing issues appeared throughout the set, with an overpowering bass making it difficult to hear the singing and guitars.
Honorary low from the editor: Alessia Cara, one of Zedd's several special guests, also experienced mic issues, which was a huge bummer for those of us who were super excited when she ran out to surprise the crowd. She also was out there for only one song, so she didn't get the chance to redeem herself.
There were so few special guests for the last day of Coachella 2025, I'm actually struggling to remember who brought anyone out other than Zedd and Ty Dolla $ign. Here's some of the better-known artists who surprised us last week by bringing out another performer, yet brought nobody out this week:
Jennie
Megan Thee Stallion
Jessie Murph
Junior H
Shaboozey (this one is only half correct, technically. Nobody performed with the country star, but he did bring retired racer Jeff Gordon out to thank him for being an inspiration)
Another festival has come and gone, which means both the highs and the lows of Coachella will fade into memory ... until next year, that is. No matter how footsore or sleep-deprived you might be, it's always a bummer to wake up on Monday to the realization it's all over. Oh well, time to think about who might headline in 2026.

Country music star secures legal win in custody battle for daughter
Post Malone's ex-fiancée has dismissed her filing for primary custody of their daughter in California, according to Billboard. Since April, the hip-hop and country artist and his former flame Hee Sung 'Jamie' Park have been vying for custody of their 3-year-old daughter, who remains anonymous under the moniker 'DDP' in court documents, per Billboard. The music publication reports that Park had petitioned to take primary care of their daughter in Los Angeles, where she moved after last year's breakup; the case became complicated when Post Malone's lawyers filed a motion to dismiss the petition in May, flagging the fact that the case seemed like an opportunity for Park to move their daughter out of Utah, her home state. 'I do not consent to Jamie's back door attempt to change DDP's residence from Utah to California,' the artist wrote, per Billboard. 'I request that the California court admonish Jamie for her lack of candor, gamesmanship in attempting to forum shop, and her intentional action to try to mislead the court about DDP's home.' In response, Park dropped the California case this past Monday, and the ex-couple will reach final custody arrangements within the Utah court system, Billboard reports. Guests at Post Malone's ongoing 'Big Ass Stadium' tour are likely familiar with the singer's daughter via the song 'Yours,' a ballad that pictures his daughter's future. The tour came to Gillette Stadium at the end of May, and will continue through mid-September. Elizabeth Hurley twins in matching animal-print bikini with 85-year-old mom
Like mother, like daughter! Elizabeth Hurley is matching with her mom, Angela Hurley. Hurley shared a sweet snap Thursday, July 31, on Instagram in honor of her mom's 85th birthday. In the photo, the mother-daughter duo sported matching swimsuits from her own line, Elizabeth Hurley Beach. The women wore animal-print bikini swim sets paired with white cotton emboidered kaftans that served as chic cover-ups. "Twinning with my mama," Hurley captioned the photo. "We just celebrated her 85th birthday, in @elizabethhurleybeach of course." Her 23-year-old son and model Damian Hurley joined in on the cute family moment, commenting three red heart emojis. In recent months, Hurley's shocking romance with music industry patriarch Billy Ray Cyrus has heated up the headlines (and her Instagram feed). Trace Cyrus says Billy Ray Cyrus made legal threat after he claimed dad needs help The day before posting the swimsuit pictures, Hurley posted a sweet selfie with her new man on Instagram: "Oh my… pic 1 is a tortoise we found in the garden in Tennessee at Easter… and pic 2 is one we just found one in Herefordshire! All hail," she captioned the picture. The "Strictly Confidential" star first revealed the pair's romance in an idyllic outdoor photo in April. Standing next to Hurley in a photo was country singer-songwriter Billy Ray Cyrus, the 63-year-old musician wore a denim shirt with striped pants and a bunny ears headband, planting a kiss on Hurley's cheek as she cheerily posed against a fence in a blue flannel shirt and matching jeans. "Happy Easter ♥️," Hurley wrote. The "Little House on the Prairie" Instagram account captured the internet's reaction to the pairing, commenting "Wait….what?" The romance comes after a difficult period for her "Achy Breaky Heart" hitmaker beau. Nearly a year ago, Cyrus finalized his contentious divorce with ex-wife Firerose in August 2024. The former couple, who were married for seven months, accused each other of spousal abuse in the months leading up to their divorce settlement.
