Historic College Football Program Surprisingly Low in Rankings After Landing Star QB

Yahoo20-05-2025
The Georgia Bulldogs landed a huge victory on the recruiting trail with the recommitment of five-star quarterback Jared Curtis. But according to ESPN, the Bulldogs still have a lot of work to do.
On Wednesday, ESPN ranked Georgia's 2026 recruiting class at No. 15 in the country.

"The Bulldogs have been a consistent staple among the top three overall classes during Kirby Smart's tenure and look to be a contender to do so again in 2026," ESPN's Craig Haubert wrote. "A big step toward finishing near the top again is bringing five-star quarterback Curtis back into the mix. After a decommitment, the Bulldogs were able to fend off other suitors, most notably Oregon, and give themselves a potential impact QB for the future.
"Curtis might need to adjust to a relatively steep jump in competition level, but he has elite physical tools, including a smooth, quick release and the ability to change arm angles."

In addition to Curtis, the Bulldogs have emphasized offensive playmakers in the 2026 class.

"With three of their top four pass catchers from 2024 having moved on and the fourth likely to leave after this season, Georgia is bringing in new receiving targets with speed," Haubert added. "Vance Spafford out of California won the fastest-man competition last summer at the UA Future 50 event and in-state prospect Brady Marchese has been recorded hitting over 22 mph in game play."
On Tuesday, On3's Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong predicted the Bulldogs to land five-star tight ends Mark Bowman and Kaiden Prothro.
Getting both Bowman and Prothro would give the Georgia offense two more offensive playmakers for next year's class. It would also boost the Bulldogs 2026 recruiting ranking.
Based on the 247 Sports composite rankings, Georgia has the 12th-best 2026 recruiting class. The Bulldogs hold that ranking despite only nine commitments.

Landing Curtis didn't vault Georgia's 2026 class into the top 10. But it might not take too many more elite prospects for the Bulldogs to make a significant jump up the rankings.

Steele exclaimed Monday of Ryan's 'Just here to bang' T-shirt that featured a sparkler animation. 6 Sage Steele posted snapshots from Rex Ryan's Fourth of July celebrations with Sam Ponder. '25 years of friendship with Rex (dating back to our @ravens days!) and almost 15 years of friendship with the beautiful @samanthaponder,' Steele said of the duo. 6 Rex Ryan worked with Sam Ponder on 'Sunday NFL Countdown' before she was let go in 2024. US soccer star Trinity Rodman fires back at ESPN broadcast for unwanted father mentions during Wimbledon

United States women's national soccer star Trinity Rodman aired out some things that were on her mind about the attention she's been receiving for supporting boyfriend Ben Shelton at Wimbledon this month. One of them included not appreciating the ESPN broadcast for bringing up her father, the polarizing ex-NBA star Dennis Rodman. Trinity wrote an Instagram Story on Monday, where she said she didn't like her personal life being discussed at Wimbledon, which came during the fourth-round match between Shelton and Lorenzo Sonego. "For Ben's matches he has his family there as his support system, which includes his dad… my dad's not even in MY life no need to bring him up during HIS matches when I don't even want him talked about during mine," Trinity wrote on her story. "It's him and his loved ones' moment. Thank you (thumbs up emoji)." Trinity also seemingly called out the ESPN team for mispronouncing her team. "For those who don't know… my name is TRINITY not Tiffany," she said with laughing emojis. In December, Trinity discussed her rocky relationship with her NBA-champion father, who she is estranged from, on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast. She claimed that he was an absentee father as well as an alcoholic. "I lost hope in ever getting him back, I answer the phone now for my conscience to be like, 'He needed to hear my voice' before anything happens," Trinity said at the time. "That's why I answer the phone, not for me. He's not a dad, maybe by blood, but nothing else." Trinity also said hope was lost after her father made a surprise appearance at her NWSL playoff game for the Washington Spirit in 2021, but never heard from him. Trinity has been nursing a back injury while supporting Shelton in London, where he is into the men's singles quarterfinals. His toughest test of the tournament will come when he faces top-seeded Jannik Sinner in the quarterfinals on Wednesday morning.
