Luxury Porsche vandalised with ‘cheater' message
On Reddit forums, people shared photos of the car at various popular spots, including the trendy James Street in Burleigh Heads, a restaurant area in Broadbeach, and a car park at a well-known gym.
The sports car, valued at least $130,000, was also marked with 'DUCK YOU' and 'HAHAHA' on the rear.
After onlookers gathered and snapped photos on James Street, two people were seen getting into the vehicle and driving off, according to The Courier Mail.
'Really f***ed up'
In the r/GoldCoast subreddit, users shared their thoughts on this act of 'revenge vandalism' – which is the act of intentionally damaging property after a perceived wrongdoing.
'I'd love to see the link between owning a Porsche and being unfaithful. Cars like that don't scream reliable family man,' joked one.
'No hiding that from anyone. Guess he or she should have thought about what they were doing,' said another.
'Guy took 'cheat day' literally,' another person wrote, referencing the gym trend of taking a break from dieting, as the car was spotted outside a gym.
'My partner and I saw that exact car and we were like 'dayum that guy really f***ed up',' shared someone else.
'Glad I'm single,' quipped another.
Scepticism brews
However, many quickly pointed out it could be a publicity stunt, as it appeared to be written in temporary chalk paint and was seen in multiple high-pedestrian areas all on the same day.
'This may be a publicity stunt,' suggested one.
'Careful. Didn't some company do something like this as a free publicity stunt the other week? Everyone started rumours, and it turned out to be for a company launching a new product or something,' another added.
It's true that last month, a luxury black Range Rover was seen in the eastern suburbs of Sydney with the same message spray-painted on the side.
The head-turning SUV was parked at Bondi Beach on a weekend, causing a fair bit of fuss among passers-by who shared photos and videos on social media.
'Well deserved,' said one user on a local community page, while another called the petty revenge 'gold'.
However, it was later revealed that the defaced vehicle was part of a PR stunt for the brand Nude by Nature, promoting their new mascara range called 'Lash Affair'.
When people scanned a QR code on the dashboard, it linked to the brand's website with a promotional deal on the product.
The brand's Marketing Manager told news.com.au that she knew the word 'cheater' would turn heads – and that's exactly what they wanted.
It appeared to be a copycat stunt of a similar campaign in the UK, where a white Range Rover was seen outside a Harrods in London, painted with red words: 'It's over,' and 'Hope she was worth it'.
It turned out to be a PR stunt for an American reality TV show.

Investigation launched after man dies while in police custody at Traralgon home
A man has died after being arrested at his home in Victoria's south-east, with police now probing the incident. Police were called to Moore St in Traralgon shortly before 1am on Sunday, following reports of a man acting erratically. The 41-year-old man was arrested out the front of his home and put into police custody. He became unresponsive a short time later. Attempts to revive the man were unsuccessful and he died at the scene. Neighbour Gino Tripodi told the ABC he was trying to get home when the incident unfolded. 'Not knowing what exactly happened in the street, it just unfolded as I was talking to police at the end of the street,' he said. 'I feel for the guy and his family, condolences to them.' He claimed the man was known for his erratic behaviour, and praised emergency crews for their efforts to help him. An investigation has been launched into the man's death, with the exact circumstances yet to be determined. 'Detectives from the Homicide Squad will investigate the incident with oversight from Professional Standards Command, as per standard practice where someone dies after being taken into police custody,' police said.

Police offer $500,000 for information on fatal Truganina house fire linked to tobacco wars
Victoria Police have announced a $500,000 reward for information relating to a fatal arson attack in Melbourne's west early this year involving a mistakenly targeted home. The incident at Truganina on January 16 killed 27-year-old Katie Tangey. Ms Tangey had been house-sitting for her brother while he was overseas when the home was set alight and became engulfed in flames, trapping her and the family dog inside and destroying the three-storey townhouse. Police believe the fire was likely linked to Victoria's tobacco wars, but have said the house on Dover Street was not the intended target of the attack and that Ms Tangey had no links to the state's illicit tobacco trade. "Those responsible for Katie's death know they targeted the wrong house and they have to live with the knowledge that they are responsible for the horrific death of a completely innocent young woman," Detective Inspector Chris Murray said. "We believe we know who directed this crime, and we know we are getting closer to proving who was responsible for carrying it out on the night." An investigation led by Victoria Police's Arson and Explosives Squad has been underway since February, with search warrants carried out at areas across Melbourne in recent months. Police have not disclosed details about any suspects but are seeking information about a man they want to speak to about the incident. Investigators released a digitally composed image of him in April. He is described as Middle Eastern in appearance, aged between 25 and 30 years old, and as having a slim build. At the time of the fire in January, police said CCTV captured two people parked outside the Truganina home before an explosion occurred and the pair left the area. A reward of up to $500,000 has been offered for anyone who can lead police to the apprehension and subsequent conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of Ms Tangey. Hand amputated after second shopping centre knife attack in Melbourne
A man has lost his hand in the first of two serious incidents involving knives at Melbourne shopping centres over the weekend. In the second incident, a 17-year-old boy was stabbed and taken to hospital in a critical condition. As of Monday morning, police are yet to announce arrests related to either incident. These latest attacks come amid a spate of knife crimes at Melbourne shopping centres. This weekend's first incident happened on Saturday at the Central Square Shopping Centre in Altona Meadows, in the city's southwest. The Herald Sun reports the 33-year-old male victim had the lower part of an arm amputated at the Royal Melbourne Hospital on Sunday. Police were called to the shopping centre about 8pm. '(The victim) was approached by a group of males and pushed to the ground,' a police spokesperson said. 'It is alleged one of the offenders produced an edged weapon and struck the victim's forearm, initially causing serious injuries. The offenders then fled the area with the victim's phone.' The weapon used is suspected to be a machete. The second incident occurred in the northern suburb of Broadmeadows on Sunday about 6.30pm. Police were called to Broadmeadows Central after a 17-year-old male was stabbed. The teenager was taken to hospital with critical injuries, the police spokesperson said. 'A crime scene has been established and the circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be determined,' they said. Police were at the shopping centre on Monday morning. 'The investigation remains ongoing,' the spokesperson said. A major brawl between rival gangs at a northern suburbs shopping centre in May sparked a statewide machete ban, which has already stopped stores selling them but criminalises possessing one as of September 1. Just last Monday, a 44-year-old man was stabbed in the chest and neck outside the Moonee Ponds Central shopping centre. Police said the alleged offender had a history of mental health issues. Barely an hour earlier, a 37-year-old man allegedly pulled a knife at a nearby cafe. After these two Moonee Ponds incidents, Police Minister Anthony Carbines stressed that officers were recently given more power to stop and search people for weapons without a warrant. 'We've seen a record number of edged weapons seized in the past year and that's a demonstration of the work police are doing to disrupt and dismantle crime in the community,' Mr Carbines told media last week. In February, two men were stabbed outside a Bunnings in Broadmeadows, allegedly over a pair of stolen headphones.
