Trixie Mattel Just Dropped a 'Gay HBO Max Song'
'Gay HBO Max Song' was released on Friday, June 27 — the penultimate weekday of Pride Month 2025. The music video, which ironically was released before Max officially rebranded de-branded back to 'HBO Max,' is meant to 'amplify queer joy,' a third-party PR rep for the collaboration told The Hollywood Reporter.

The single lays a few very meme-able quotes from HBO/Max shows atop the beat, including Sydney Sweeney's 'I've never been happier!' line from Euphoria, Jennifer Coolidge's 'These gays are trying to kill me!' from The White Lotus, 'Whatever happened to fun?' from Sex & the City — and others. The selections mark 'HBO Max's most iconic quotes' as 'uplifted and made relevant by the queer community,' the pitch to press reads.
'With fans at the core of its success, HBO Max continues to inspire engagement and creative expression,' it continues. 'This initiative is a tribute to the creativity, passion and unwavering connection fans have shown to HBO Max content. The launch of the 'Gay HBO Max Song' celebrates the communities and fandoms that have helped establish HBO Max as a cultural phenomenon.'
In 2022, Mattel had a Discovery+ show titled Trixie Motel. A sequel, Trixie Motel: Drag Me Home, premiered on Discovery+ (and Max) in 2024.

Max will revert to 'HBO Max' (but thankfully not the original HBO Max platform) sometime this summer. The service went from 'HBO Max' to just 'Max' in 2023 in an ill-conceived attempt to express the broadness of available content following the combination of WarnerMedia (at the time owned by AT&T) and Discovery, Inc.
'This evolution has been influenced by changing consumer needs, and the fact that no consumer today is saying they want more content, but most consumers are saying they want better content,' WBD said in a statement reversing course in May. 'With other services filling the more basic needs with volume, WBD has clearly distinguished itself through its quality and distinct stories, and no brand has done that better and more consistently over 50-plus years than HBO.'
'Returning the HBO brand into HBO Max will further drive the service forward and amplify the uniqueness that subscribers can expect from the offering,' the statement continued. 'It is also a testament to WBD's willingness to keep boldly iterating its strategy and approach — leaning heavily on consumer data and insights — to best position itself for success.'

BASL is more than some variation of American Sign Language (ASL). It's a rich, culturally specific dialect with its own grammar, rhythm, facial expressions, and historical significance. 'Sinners in BASL' represents a major step forward in inclusive storytelling by acknowledging and honoring the Black Deaf community's unique cultural identity. Interpreting the BASL version is Nakia Smith, a prominent voice in the Black Deaf community known for her advocacy and cultural fluency. Her performance brings a layered depth to the film's themes of identity, justice, and duality. The interpretation is directed by Rosa Lee Timm, who also helmed ASL versions of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and A Minecraft Movie . 'Accessibility within streaming is not a one-size-fits-all approach,' said Naomi Waibel, senior VP of Global Product Management at Warner Bros. Discovery to THR . 'Sinners with Black American Sign Language is an example of how culturally nuanced access can enrich the viewing experience for our audiences.' She emphasized that the BASL edition is not just about access, but it's about authenticity and creating a viewing experience that resonates with the specific cultural experiences of the Black Deaf community. Max previously offered ASL-interpreted versions of major titles like The Last of Us , Barbie , and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire . But the BASL version of Sinners sets a new precedent for streaming platforms looking to deepen inclusivity with intention and care. Written and directed by Coogler and produced by Proximity Media, Sinners features Jordan in a dual role and promises a gripping narrative rooted in emotional complexity. South Park Creators Furious Over Season 27 Delay, Blaming Paramount and Skydance's ‘S–tshow' of a Merger
South Park is on the move, and its creators aren't too happy about it. Shortly after a Comedy Central press release went wide on Wednesday, announcing that South Park's Season 27 premiere was being bumped from July 9 to July 23, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone issued a press release of their own. We are at the studio working on new episodes and we hope the fans get to see them somehow.'' 'What merger,' you ask? Well, it's complicated. Long story short, Skydance Media is currently in the process of merging with Paramount Global, which owns Comedy Central and co-owns South Park Digital Studios alongside Parker and Stone. Additionally, South Park's $500 million exclusive streaming deal with HBO Max ended last week, and no new deals (either exclusive or non-exclusive with multiple streamers) have been established to replace it. Parker and Stone recently threatened Paramount with legal action, alleging that incoming president Jeff Shell was interfering in their contract negotiations with Warner Bros. Discovery and Netflix. The Skydance-Paramount merger is expected to close on July 6, but it could be extended. So, what we can hope to see when South Park does finally return for Season 27? A trailer for the show's long-awaited premiere shows the titular town ablaze, a nod to the wildfires that recently ravaged Los Angeles; we see a group of beret-wearing Frenchmen stealing back the Statue of Liberty, following an actual French politician's request for the U.S. to return it; and we see Butters working as a stressed-out air traffic controller, failing to keep planes from colliding. Cartman being in a hospital room with a woman in labor has us thinking that South Park has another abortion story up its sleeve, and the sight of Kyle apparently turning into a turkey can only mean that we're getting a bird flu episode.
