We have a release date for The Devil Wears Prada 2 — and this has a special Met Gala connection!

Hindustan Times23-05-2025
July 2024, news dropped of 2006 cult classic, The Devil Wears Prada, finally coming through with a sequel. Very little in known about the film right now, almost a year on from the announcement — even the cast isn't air tight yet. But a Variety report asserts that Meryl Streep, who played the woefully iconic Miranda Priestly, and Emily Blunt, who played her namesake, will in fact be returning to reprise their roles. And while nothing else is confirmed, a release date seems to have been locked in.
The Devil Wears Prada is eyeing a release on May 1, 2026. But that's not it. There's a delicious little Met Gala connection here, sure to pique every fashion girlie and guy's ears. May 1 next year will be a Friday which puts it right ahead of the first Monday of May — always, ALWAYS reserved for 'fashion's biggest night', the Met Gala!
So imagine sauntering into a (presumably packed!) theatre to experience the Devil Wears Prada sequel, and making it through the weekend on that high only to dive head first into Met Monday on your feeds. Safe to say, the first weekend of May is going to be a long weekend, spiritually at least!
Going back to first of its kind, The Devil Wears Prada movie is based on Lauren Weisberger's book of the same name. Incidentally, Lauren had worked as a personal assistant for American Vogue editor Anna Wintour, with the popular narrative being that the intense dynamic between Anne's Andy Sachs and Meryl's Miranda, was actually modeled on her own personal experience with Anna.
So while we all wait for bated breath with the Devil Wears Prada sequel to actually make it's way to us (right in time for the gala Met Monday), the OG is available for streaming on OTT.

Legendary singer Ozzy Osbourne passes away at 76

John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne, the lead singer of British heavy metal band Black Sabbath, has died at 76. He breathed his last on Tuesday after a yearslong struggle with Parkinson's disease, as per Variety. The news of Ozzy's demise was confirmed by his family via a statement, TMZ reported. The statement read, "It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time." Ozzy had performed just two weeks ago at what was billed as Black Sabbath's last concert, a festival titled "Back to the Beginning," in his and the band's hometown of Birmingham, England, that amounted to a massive tribute to the legendary band, including from such legendary spiritual offspring as Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Slayer, Tool, Pantera, Alice in Chains and more. Ozzy Osbourne's Heartbreaking Health Update, His Final Goodbye Performance Black Sabbath Confirmed In January 2020, following two years of escalating health problems, Osbourne announced that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. In February 2023, he issued a statement saying that he was retiring from touring, citing spinal injuries he had sustained in a 2018 accident. He said, "[I]n all good conscience, I have now come to the realization that I'm not physically capable of doing my upcoming European/U.K. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Dolly Parton, 79, Takes off Her Makeup and Leaves Us Without Words The Noodle Box Undo tour dates, as I know I couldn't deal with the travel required. Believe me when I say that the thought of disappointing my fans really F***S ME UP, more than you will ever know. "Never would I have imagined that my touring days would have ended this way." From 1969-79, Osbourne was the head-banging front man for the Birmingham, England-based Black Sabbath, which codified the bottom-heavy, churning sound and lyrical demonology that would course through dozens of metal bands to come. Though the group's history was a chaotic one characterized by monumental substance abuse and tumultuous in-fighting, its early albums survive as classics of the genre, as per Variety. His popularity among metal fans was so immense that his wife and manager Sharon Osbourne built a touring festival, Ozzfest, around him; it became one of the biggest box office attractions of the '90s and attracted a glittering lineup of support acts. Osbourne garnered additional fame early in the new millennium as the addled paterfamilias of "The Osbournes," an MTV reality series that focused its lens on the rock star's home life. Osbourne is survived by his wife, Sharon, and six children -- Jessica, Louis and Elliot from his first marriage to Thelma Riley, and Aimee, Kelly and Jack from his second marriage.

The Devil Wears Prada 2: Spotted — Anne Hathaway back in her Andrea Sachs era!

"Andy Sachs 2025 #dwp2". Anne Hathaway as Andrea Sachs, now and then(Photos: X) That's what Anne Hathaway captioned her first drop from the sets of The Devil Wears Prada sequel. Dressed in a casually-fitted but cinched pinstriped waist coat and trousers, the 42-year-old was gleaming and beaming. If you're wondering, this wasn't just a cute photo-op. The same fit, later in the day, made it to the streets of New York City. In the midst of what appears to be a filler shot. Anne, channeling her inner Andy, can be seen flitting across the street, hurriedly putting on a pair of sunnies as she makes it across on-coming traffic. The clip is an absolute dead ringer for the chaotic but fashion-forward montages of the original 2006 release, wherein panicked runs through New York City made up about 40 percent of the plot — and we mean that in the most flattering manner possible. Coming back to the production under way, besides the OG trio of Anne, Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt, returning to reprise their roles, the supporting cast has significantly expanded with names like Kenneth Branagh, (set to play Miranda Priestly's husband), Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak and Pauline Chalamet having come on board, albeit in undisclosed roles (save for Kenneth's). For anybody who believed just the sheer hype for The Devil Wears Prada sequel would make it a hush-hush affair with any leaks being cleaned up from the internet before they're circulated, just know that Anne seems to be in full fangirl mode, already having updated fans, twice (!) since filming commenced. Just a little while back, dressed in a motley mosaic maxi dress with a crochet bucket hat, she cool-ly sauntered in front of a giant '2' and struck a pose. As we wait for the sequel's May Day release next year, the OG is always available for streaming on OTT for the nostalgic hits.
