Former Cowboys Star Slams Nike for Losing Jeremiah Smith To Arch-Rival originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The world of NIL is shaped not only by the colleges creating budgets to fill their roster, but the product endorsement deals and sponsorships that can begin a lifelong connection. Advertisement The way Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods became synonymous with Nike that type of partnership, because of the NIL market, can come to fruition with a young college athlete. One such deal that's already making waves is the agreement reached by Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and athletic apparel juggernaut Adidas. On Wednesday, Adidas announced their deal with Smith and the 19-year-old wideout posted "Three Stripes for life" on his X account. But with every move, there are detractors. Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant was quick to throw shade on social media by questioning how Nike missed out on making a deal with Smith. Advertisement "Nike about to lose all credibility. How did they lose Jeremiah Smith to Adidas?" read Bryant's post, which received more than 250,000 views and over 2,600 likes. Smith joins several big-time football players already associated with the brand, including Patrick Mahomes, Micah Parsons, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Travis Hunter, and Abdul Carter. NFL Network's annual America's Game marathon continues to skip Jon Gruden, Rich Dalrymple episodes
The ice has thawed between the Buccaneers and former coach Jon Gruden, who is back in the team's Ring of Honor. The ice remains solid between the league and Gruden. On America's birthday, NFL Network televises a marathon of the America's Game series. Each episode consists of a one-hour look at every Super Bowl champion — starting with the 1966 Packers and culminating with the 2023 Chiefs. (The newest episode, focusing on the 2024 Eagles, has yet to be released.) As noted by Tyler Dunne of the 58-volume library includes only 56. Two are omitted — and they have been, dating back to 2022. Still gone is the episode devoted to the 2002 Buccaneers (featuring Gruden). He was forced to resign as coach of the Raiders during the 2021 season after emails he'd sent years earlier were leaked from the files of an investigation into the Washington franchise. He has a lawsuit still pending against the league and Commissioner Roger Goodell. Also omitted is the 1995 Cowboys edition, which is narrated by former P.R. chief Rich Dalrymple. He resigned abruptly in 2022. Not long after he made his exit, he was linked to not one but two incidents of alleged voyeurism. Allegations that he secretly recorded the Cowboys' cheerleaders in their locker room reportedly resulted in a $2.4 million settlement. Tune in next year, to see if the 2002 Bucs and 1995 'Boys get left out. Until then, you can watch the Gruden episode here, and the Dalrymple one here.

ESPN writer picks Chiefs RB Brashard Smith as the biggest surprise heading into 2025
The Kansas City Chiefs selected running back Brashard Smith in the seventh round of this year's NFL Draft. ESPN's Adam Teicher recently wrote an article identifying the Chiefs' biggest surprise player as Smith, going into the new season. "Judging from how he was utilized in offseason practices, the Chiefs have plans for Smith, a seventh-round draft pick out of SMU," wrote Teicher. "Smith was a wide receiver in college before moving to running back for his final season, and the Chiefs showcased his versatility by getting him the ball out of the backfield, from the slot, and split out wide. Smith ran a 4.39 40 at the combine, so he will fit in with a group of other fast skill players, including Xavier Worthy, Hollywood Brown, and Elijah Mitchell." Smith earned Third-team Associated Press All-American All-Purpose and First-team All-ACC honors in his final college season with SMU. He led the team with 1,332 rushing yards on 235 carries and 14 rushing touchdowns. The former wide receiver brings versatility to the position and could have an impact similar to that of the current starter and former seventh-round draft pick, Isiah Pacheco.
