CAIRO, March 20 (MENA) - Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli Thursday affirmed keenness on following up government efforts in seawater desalination file and taking practical steps with serious companies willing to carry out mega projects in this field.
The prime minister said the government will provide great attention to companies committed to localizing industries related to water desalination.
Madbouli made the remarks during a meeting with Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Sherif Sherbiny, Deputy Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Sayed Ismail and CEO of ACWA Power company Hassan Amen.
Minister Sherbiny presented the strategic plan for seawater desalination (2025-2050), highlighting the capacities of desalination plants within this strategy, which is divided into five five-year plans.
The first plan begins in 2025 and runs until 2030, including 23 projects with a total production of 2.655 million cubic meters per day, the minister added.
Meantime, the deputy housing minister shed light on existing seawater desalination plants, along with devised future expansions planned to be offered under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) system.
He said the number of current plants is 11, with a total production capacity of 485,000 cubic meters per day, with ongoing expansions that will add 225,000 cubic meters per day.
For his part, the CEO of ACWA Power said the company, which has the lowest prices globally, is highlyy interested in working in Egypt.
The company will work on supporting the government's plans to localize the industry and cooperate to qualify specialized cadres in the field of seawater desalination, he added. (MENA)

Habashi reviewed national efforts exerted by the Egyptian State to fight illegal migration based on Egypt's vision that covers both security and development aspects of migration and addresses its root causes by supporting local communities and offering safe alternatives. The two sides discussed economic support provided by the Dutch side to support Egypt's efforts to fight illegal migration. They also underscored the importance of developing programs that create job opportunities and foster social stability in communities most vulnerable to migration pressures. The meeting also tackled boosting the Egyptian State's capacity to host refugees and migrants, in line with the principle of burden- and responsibility-sharing to ensure the resilience of host communities. They reiterated their commitment to maintain efforts to address migration challenges through linking development and humanitarian dimensions in a way that contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and supports regional security and stability. SEVILLE, July 1 (MENA) - Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli called on the international community to provide necessary support to Egypt given the burdens it bears in light of current economic challenges resulting from regional and international crises. His statements came during a meeting Tuesday with Amy Pope, Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), on the sidelines of his participation - on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in the Fourth United Nations (UN) International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4). The Egyptian prime minister voiced appreciation for being received by the IOM Director General and praised ongoing cooperation and coordination between Egypt and the Organization. Madbouli stressed Egypt's commitment to emphasizing the importance of achieving security and stability in the region, in view of the burdens faced by people as a result of instability and the waves of migration and displacement. He also noted Egypt's keenness on providing various services to guests residing in the country - a practice that has been commended by international organizations. For her part, Pope praised cooperation between Egypt and the IOM, affirmed the organization's support for Egypt and highlighted the importance of continuing this partnership. Madbouli highlighted Egypt's efforts, in cooperation with European countries, to regulate legal migration and seasonal labor, noting Egypt's large number of skilled workers across all fields. CAIRO, July 1 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty has affirmed the depth of cooperation between Egypt and the Sultanate of Oman. This came during a joint press conference held Tuesday with Omani Foreign Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi. Abdelatty welcomed his Omani counterpart and his accompanying delegation, referring to Egypt as their 'second home.' The minister noted that he and his Omani counterpart co-chaired the 16th session of the Egyptian-Omani Joint Committee, which is held at a significant time as bilateral relations are witnessing a major leap forward. Abdelatty said this progress reflects the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman who have both called for further strengthening of ties across all fields and broadening cooperation horizons in light of the strong bonds between the two leaders and the deep-rooted ties between the Egyptian and Omani peoples.
