Kavitha demands higher compensation to ryots losing land for Kodangal LIS
Telangana Jagruthi president and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K. Kavitha has demanded that the State government pay a compensation of at least ₹35 lakh per acre to farmers being displaced by the Kodangal-Narayanpet Lift Irrigation Scheme, as the authorities were offering only ₹14 lakh per acre as against the ₹20 lakh promised by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
In a meeting with the farmers, who are being displaced by the new irrigation scheme at Kanukurthy village in Kodangal constituency on Thursday, she alleged that the Chief Minister had kept the Karivena package of the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, whose head works were 95% completed by the BRS Government, in cold storage, though it had planned to irrigate 1.8 lakh acres in Kodangal and Narayanpet constituencies.
'The new lift irrigation scheme taken up at the behest of Mr. Revanth Reddy reduced the irrigation potential to just 1 lakh acres. Instead of drawing water from the Jurala project for the new scheme, government is planning to draw water from the Bhoothpur link of the Bhima Lift Irrigation Scheme, restricting the availability of BLIS water to the Makthal area,' she said.
She alleged that the government had escalated the Kogandal-Narayanpet LIS cost to ₹4,500 crore from ₹2,900 crore mentioned in the GO issued for the purpose without even taking up the work. She sought to know whether the increase in cost by ₹1,600 crore was meant for kickbacks. She also faulted the government for giving mobilisation advance of ₹600 crore each to the two successful bidders for the work without even doing a spadeful of work.
She asked the government to give a job to one member of each family being displaced by the project and construct a housing colony for them.

Any decisions will be made after careful evaluation. We cannot name anyone at this stage." With the BRS reduced to just 39 assembly seats and drawing a blank in the Lok Sabha elections, the party is facing internal discontent and a credibility crisis — giving rivals like the BJP a window to make strategic gains ahead of the next round of elections, a senior political analyst said.

Ready to sacrifice my post for people's benefit: MLA Rajagopal Reddy
Congress MLA from Munugode Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy expressed his willingness to sacrifice his position for the welfare of people of his constituency, revealing that he had indeed desired the ministerial post for people's welfare. He also added that he would have become the Minister, if he contested from LB Nagar. He was miffed over being denied the Minister post during the recent Cabinet reshuffle. Speaking at Samsthan Narayanapuram, Mr. Reddy emphasised that positions are not important to him, but the people are. Harish Rao insulting judiciary after being rattled with Ghose Commission's findings: Uttam
Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy accused BRS MLA leader and former minister T. Harish Rao of insulting the judiciary for his criticism of the PC Ghose Commission's findings on the Kaleshwaram project, and demanded an apology. Mr. Reddy said the former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and Mr. Harish Rao were rattled after the Judicial Commission exposed the financial irregularities and that the Kaleshwaram project was approved without Cabinet consent, with contracts signed under dubious directions from Mr. KCR and Mr. Harish Rao. 'You committed a scam worth thousands of crores and now call the Judicial Commission a political vendetta?', he asked in response to Mr. Harish Rao's presentation on Tuesday. The Minister reminded that both former CM KCR and Mr. Harish Rao had appeared before the Judicial Commission. 'Why didn't Harish Rao raise these objections before the commission? Why come out now with baseless allegations in front of party workers?' he questioned. The commission's detailed report exposed widespread irregularities, design flaws and structural failures in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, particularly the sinking of the Medigadda barrage. Mr. Reddy said the Congress believes in democracy and the judiciary, which is why it was ready to hold a full discussion in the Assembly based on the Commission's report. 'Those found guilty, including former ministers, are welcome to join the debate and present their version,' he said.
