Rs 264 cr allocated for school infrastructure development: Tripura CM

India Gazette17-06-2025
Agartala (Tripura) [India], June 18 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday said that the state education department is working with priority to provide quality education to students, and under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, special emphasis has also been given to the digital education system.
'Work is being done with importance to develop infrastructure in the state's schools. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started the 'Pariksha Pe Charcha' program to reduce the pressure on students during exams. He started this program with the aim of taking exams as a challenge and not making them a subject of pressure. And parents or guardians always try to ensure that their children do well,' said CM Saha.
CM Saha, who is also the state education minister, said this after the felicitation programme for meritorious students who passed the Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations, which was held today at Town Hall.
Saha hoped that they would achieve better results in the future. Along with this, he called for fair competition in studies in a healthy environment.
The Chief Minister said that many people do well in real life despite getting fewer marks in the exam.
'Patience and diligence are the keys to success in life. Our Prime Minister says that good and talented children from families that are not involved in politics should be brought into politics. This will help us get out of the precarious situation in politics. In the future, talented students will have to use their talent, knowledge, and intelligence properly for the development of society and the country. The education department of the state government is trying to provide quality education. There is no dearth of talent among the children of Tripura. They just need a proper platform, and that is what the state government is trying to provide,' he said.
He further said that due to the earnest efforts of the Prime Minister, the National Education Policy 2020 has been launched in the country and has been prepared based on the country's culture and tradition. Students will benefit from this.
'Various schools have been upgraded to English medium. Through the Super 30 project, 1 IIT, 3 NIT, and 3 MBBS seats have been achieved in the financial year 2024-25. The Chief Minister's Merit Award has been introduced. Common question papers have been introduced in schools. Rs 153 crore has been spent on the construction of new buildings in 44 schools. Apart from this, infrastructure will be developed in about 30 more schools. An allocation of about Rs 264 crore has been made for this. This year, about 345 schools have achieved 100 per cent results in secondary education. The total pass rate is 86.53%. 39 schools have achieved 100% results in higher secondary education. The pass rate is 79.29%,' he added.
The event was attended by Bharatiya Janata Party Sadar Urban District President Asim Bhattacharya, Baradowali Mandal President Shyamal Kumar Deb, Municipal Corporation Corporators Abhijit Mallick, Alok Roy, Ratna Dutta, Janhvi Das Chowdhury, and other top leaders as distinguished guests. (ANI)

Farmer sends seed earnings to Kokate with unusual request to play rummy & help his family financially

Nashik: A 25-year-old farmer from Devgaon village in Niphad taluka on Thursday sent his seed sale earnings to agriculture minister Manikrao Kokate, with a peculiar request — to play online rummy and help support the farmer's family financially. On July 20, a video of agriculture minister Kokate went viral on social media, purportedly showing him playing rummy when the house was in session. Kokate, however, refuted the allegation. Farmer Yogesh Khule, who sent the money to Kokate, said he owned 10 acres in Devgaon village and waterlogging due to poor drainage prevented farmers in the area from sowing seeds, threatening the kharif crop. "If I am going to lose the kharif crop, the thought occurred to me to invest the money from where I'll get returns. I therefore sold off the seeds bought from the market and sent Rs 5,500, which I received, to the agriculture minister, requesting him to play a game of rummy online and help my family's living for this season," he said. Kokate's PA was reached for the minister's comment on the issue, who claimed that the minister was busy. His response was awaited till going to press. Having completed his Std XII seven years ago, Khule took up farming to support his family. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Here's The Average Price of a 6-Hour Eavestroughs Upgrade in Ontario Leaf Filter Partner Undo His younger brother is pursuing a Master's in computer application and his younger sister has completed her second-year in commerce. Khule clarified, "I have no grudge against the minister and have not verified the video about his playing rummy. I don't want to be personal. This is the issue of the farmers, and I just thought of acting on it, so I acted." When asked if he borrowed the idea or got support from anyone, Khule said, "I do not belong to any group other than that of the farmers. I have no sponsors or mentors, and my sole aim is to support my family and the farming community and do whatever I can. This was the idea which I could do, and hence did it...I hope govt takes the act seriously and does not consider my act as a mockery."

"Centuries Old Relations, Key In Neighbourhood 1st Policy": PM On India-Maldives Ties

Male: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed gratitude and reaffirmed the close ties between India and the Maldives during an official banquet hosted in his honour by Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu in Male. Emphasising the depth of the bilateral relationship, PM Modi said, "India-Maldives relations are centuries old. We are neighbours, partners and true friends who stand together in times of need. Maldives holds a special place in India's 'Neighbourhood First' policy... This is not just diplomacy but a relation of deep affinity." He reflected on the continuity of recent high-level engagements, saying, "Last year, the President visited India on a State Visit. Now, I have received the opportunity to be the first State Guest of his tenure." Marking the significance of the occasion, he added, "Arriving here as the Guest of Honour on the 60th Independence Day of the Maldives is an honour for me. For this invitation, I express my gratitude to the President. On behalf of all the people of India, I extend heartfelt greetings to the people of the Maldives." He noted that this visit comes at a symbolic moment for both nations. "This year, the 60th anniversary of India-Maldives relations is also being celebrated. This happy coincidence -- the 60th Independence Day of the Maldives and the 60th anniversary of India-Maldives relations -- has made my visit even more special," PM Modi said. Underscoring the civilisational and cultural bonds, he remarked, "Our shared heritage is as old as the monsoon and as sweet as Addu Bondi. Our languages reflect the depth of our culture. Several words in Dhivehi have come from India... Our tastes are also similar... Absolutely perfect despite being different." He also emphasised the strength of people-to-people ties between the two countries, saying, "The loving relations that have been formed between the people of our two nations for centuries are ever strong even today... Your tourist number 10 lakh this year turned out to be an Indian." Reflecting the warmth of the occasion, President Mohamed Muizzu congratulated Prime Minister Modi for completing 4,078 consecutive days in office, making him the second-longest-serving Prime Minister of India in consecutive terms -- surpassing the record previously held by former PM Indira Gandhi. Speaking at the official banquet hosted in honour of PM Modi during his two-day visit to the Maldives, Muizzu praised the Prime Minister's leadership. "First of all, let me convey my heartiest congratulations to Your Excellency on becoming the second-longest-serving Prime Minister of India today," Muizzu said. "This remarkable milestone, 4078 consecutive days in office, is a testament to your unwavering commitment to public service and dedication to the progress and prosperity of the Indian people," he added. Notably, PM Modi is the first non-Congress Prime Minister to mark this achievement. Additionally, Narendra Modi is the first Prime Minister born after independence and the longest-serving from a non-Hindi state. Narendra Modi, 74, took oath as Prime Minister for the first time on May 26, 2014 and has served a total of 11 years and 60 days in office till date. The erstwhile Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had served for 11 years and 59 days in office in consecutive terms. She held the highest office as Prime Minister of India from January 24, 1966, to March 24, 1977. Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, holds the record for the longest-serving Prime Minister in consecutive terms, spanning 16 years and 286 days, from August 15, 1947, to May 27, 1964. The first Prime Minister born after India's independence, Prime Minister Modi, has previously served as the Prime Minister of India from 2014 to 2019 and from 2019 to 2024. PM Modi is on a two-day visit to the Maldives at the invitation of President Muizzu, where he held a bilateral meeting with Muizzu and announced several agreements to boost cooperation in trade, agriculture, health, and social welfare, providing the South Asian nation with an extra push in its development journey.
