Johnny Fisher opens up on backstabbers who turned on him after controversial Dave Allen win ahead of huge rematch

The Sun13-05-2025
JOHNNY FISHER says the boxing backstabbers were ready and waiting to twist the knife after his controversial win over Dave Allen.
Fisher was dropped in the fifth round against Allen in December but edged out a contentious split-decision victory in Saudi Arabia.

Up until that point, it had only been love and adulation for the hugely popular Romford Bull and his social media star dad Big John.
But Fisher - one of Britain's most prolific ticket sellers - says he felt backs being turned on him in the aftermath of the bout.
He told SunSport: "If you're a professional boxer or an athlete of any perspective or any person in some sort of public eye, you're gonna get negative comments.
"And when it is a close fight, people with their knives are waiting to dig in and and defame you, but people who know their boxing though it was a close fight.
"I believe I won by one round. I don't, don't dispute people that thought it could have gone around the other way or it was a draw.
"But objectively looking at it, I thought I won by a round and that's a close fight. So we can do it again."
Fisher's popularity has been boosted hugely by the online love for his Chinese takeaway-loving dad.
But Fisher Sr bared the brunt of his son's disputed decision win in Riyadh taking to social media in defence of his boy.
He passionately backed Johnny against criticism coming from those they deemed their closest confidants.
And Fisher Jr said: "It's my dad, we're the same person.
"And if my son was in that position and people who you thought you were friends, people would be around your house were making it hysterical and creating a hysteria, I'll do the same thing for my son."
Fisher ended up in hospital after the 12 brutal rounds against Allen - and revealed he relished the damaging slugfest.
He said: "They're the things you dream of as a professional fighter.
"Can't do it all the time but to show people I'm not just a knockout artist, I can dig in, that's another good positive."
"That's what you live for, that's why we entertain people."
Fisher, 26, now rematches Allen, 33, on Saturday at his adopted home of the Copper Box Arena, ready to silence the deafening doubters.
He said: "It was always in the back of my mind that I wanted to do it again because it was a close fight.
"But then I watched it back and thought I won by one round. There's always other opportunities - my life don't revolve around this rematch.
"But something in the back of my mind wanted to do it again - so let's do it."

Ellie Goulding, 38, 'goes public with new actor beau, 28, at boxing match' - after 'sharing cryptic TikTok video of him'

Ellie Goulding reportedly went public with her new love interest at a boxing match over the weekend. The singer, 38, is dating actor Beau Minniear, 28, according to The Sun and the pair attended the clash between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois at Wembley together on Saturday night. It comes after last week she reportedly teased a romance with him with a cryptic TikTok video posted to her socials. The publication claims she shared a clip stroking a man's arm, with the caption: 'Just a little something to take the edge off.' The video is no longer on her TikTok account. Her fans reportedly noticed that the watch the man was wearing in the clip matched one Beau regularly wears in Instagram snaps. They also reportedly noticed they both posted photos last week from the same hotel in Florence - before attending the boxing match together. A source told the publication: 'Ellie is into Beau and they have a lot of shared interests like exercise and art. 'They've been having fun together and they certainly make for an attractive couple.' A representative for Ellie has been contacted by MailOnline for comment. The Sun go on to report that Ellie is thought to have met Beau - who has a string of small acting parts in TV and film in the US - earlier this year. The singer separated from her art dealer husband Caspar Jopling in February last year and the pair are now co-parenting their five-year-old son Arthur. Late last year she then split from her boyfriend Armando Perez who she moved on with after Caspar. The musician and the surf instructor - who was eight years her junior - struck up a romance when he gave her surfing lessons as she rang in the New Year in Costa Rica. However friends of the pair told MailOnline late last year that their relationship had run its course. One said at the time: 'Amando and Ellie were very attracted to one another. Despite the age gap, they struck up an instant chemistry when he gave her private surfing lessons. 'They soon formed a bond and loved spending time together - Ellie loved hanging out on the beach with Armando to get away from everything that was going on back home after her marriage had come to an end.' 'Armando was used to spending his days instructing in the water and running around barefoot in swim shorts, and was more comfortable enjoying his "quiet life" without the "drama" of being in the public eye,' the source added. 'They had a very special time together and she visited the country a lot. But they are from very different backgrounds.' The couple met at the turn of the year when Ellie had gone to the Central American beach resort for a yoga and surf retreat with two close friends - actresses Emily Wickersham and Alessandra Ford Balazs - where they rented a swanky hillside villa. The holiday was a break for Ellie after she had in private separated from her art dealer husband Caspar. When pictures emerged of Ellie and Armando in swimsuits kissing passionately in the sea, the mother-of-one then took the decision to make public that her five-year marriage to Caspar, 33, had previously come to an end. Confirming their split on Instagram, she wrote: 'In light of recent stories, I feel I have been left with no choice but to let you all know that Caspar and I privately separated some time ago. 'We remain the closest of friends and have been successfully co-parenting with our son's best interests at heart.'

Oleksandr Usyk responds to Jake Paul's MMA fight call-out after the pair faced off at Wembley following undisputed heavyweight clash

Oleksandr Usyk has addressed Jake Paul 's audacious proposition to fight him in an MMA fight, following their face-off at Wembley Stadium on Saturday. Usyk had just stopped Daniel Dubois in the fifth round of their undisputed heavyweight world title clash before Paul stormed the ring in front of over 90,000 fans. The YouTuber-turned-boxer stood face-to-face with the Ukrainian for around 10 seconds, before the pair shook hands and exchanged what appeared to be amicable words. After the fact, Paul took to social media to issue an unprecedented challenge to Usyk, while hailing him 'one of the greatest heavyweights of all time'. The 28-year-old wrote: 'Congrats to one of the greatest heavyweights of all time @usykaa on a huge win. I respect you a lot. Now we do an MMA match for the world @MostVpromotions.' Usyk pocketed a staggering £100million from his dominant win over Dubois - and it seems that the 38-year-old is hungry for another blockbuster payout, which would undoubtedly be the case if he fought Paul. 'Jake Paul came to the ring for a face-off. I'm ready to fight with Jake Paul in MMA rules. I'm ready but I need to rest,' Usyk sensationally declared. Paul then urged his manager, Nakisa Bidarian, to get the deal done, posting: 'Yo @nakisa_bidarian, line up these fights. It's go time.' Paul joined the Professional Fighters League (PFL) in 2023, signalling his intent to launch a serious MMA career, though as of now he is yet to make his octagon debut. The social media sensation is notoriously willing - at least with his words- to punch above his weight, and has publicly addressed the idea of fighting a number of professional boxers. Shortly after Paul beat Mike Tyson last November, Dubois challenged him to a legitimate heavyweight title fight which never materialised, though Paul's camp insisted they were open to the idea. Paul has also challenged Anthony Joshua, with Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh revealing he would speak to the Brit about such a prospect. Joshua, meanwhile, has not commented.
