Winner of the Harold Desbrowe Annear Award. 'Living spaces and the landscape spaces are as fluid as possible,' says Lyon about this family home in Melbourne. 'Even the walls themselves are quite monumental.' Photograph: Rory Gardiner/Studio Bright
The house is shaped like a Tetris T-block, with the bedrooms running along the main length of the property, and the living room and kitchen in the smallest wing. This layout 'challenges the conventional idea of a house,' says Lyon. 'The relationship between the garden and house has become blurred.' He says it's a great model for suburban living that counteracts the stereotypical McMansion that has yards at the front and back of the house. Photograph: Rory Gardiner/Studio Bright
Commendation. This family home is a graceful place, Lyon says. 'It's a well-crafted, delicate house and the clients here were looking for something the family could live in comfortably. Everything is well-thought through.' Photograph: Pier Carthew/markowitzdesign + Stavrias Architecture
Inside feels like a continuation of the materials used outside, adds Lyon. Bedrooms for the parents and kids sit at opposite ends of the property, with the main living zones in the middle. Photograph: Pier Carthew/markowitzdesign + Stavrias Architecture
Commendation. Traditional rural materials, such as galvanised steel, have been elevated in a sculptural way here, says Lyon about the South Gippsland holiday home. 'It's a farm house, but it has that cutting-edge quality.' Its cladding exterior is a bushfire-resistant solution too. Photograph: Tom Blachford/Neil Architecture
'The exteriors are an ode to the working rural farm shed, but inside it's warm timber, inviting you inside,' says Lyon. Photograph: Tom Blachford/Neil Architecture
Architecture award winner. 'This one has a nostalgic quality, of what we remember a childhood visit to a beach house to be like,' Lyon says. 'It's informal, quirky, indoor-outdoor – you're in the trees, with the gravel outside.' Photograph: multiplicity
The property also won the architecture award in the interior design category: 'You're allowed to walk around with your thongs on and wet bathers,' says Lyon of the practical and joyful design. 'That's a deliberate decision, to be able to use the house without fear.' Photograph: multiplicity
Commendation. Both a working sheep farm and a home, this property is an example of architecture that works with the environment. 'You get a sense of which parts are the house and which are for working, but it is unified and that is primarily because of the consistency of the colour of the Colorbond, which goes well with the green of the land,' Lyon says. Photograph: Dave Kulesza/MRTN
Inside is a place for the owners to retreat from their work, says Lyon, without losing that connection to the land. Photograph: Dave Kulesza/MRTN
Architecture award winner. 'The concrete is an aesthetic choice but also a choice of requirement,' says Lyon about this bunker-style holiday home. 'It's a representation of the high-flame zone requirements [for the area].' The jury noted it was 'a call to rethink how and where we build in a fire-prone future', as the project was initially deemed unbuildable. '[It] addresses risk with resolve,' they said. 'You have this amazing, infinite view of the horizon from the inside,' says Lyon.

Who knew they were friends? MAFS star Carina Mirabile steps out with Angelina Censori in Melbourne

Carina Mirabile has revealed her surprising friendship with Angelina Censori, the younger sister of Kanye West 's wife Bianca. The Married At First Sight star, 31, took to Instagram to share images of the pair enjoying a meal in Melbourne. The gal pals were dining at swanky French eatery Maison Bâtard on Friday, with one image showing what appeared to be a delectable strawberry tart that was about to be devoured by the pair. Another shot showed Carina and Angelina posing up a storm as they sat at their table. Carina certainly endured many comparisons to Kanye's ex Kim Kardashian during her time on MAFS, and it was one she didn't seem keen to shake during the dinner date. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. She bore quite the striking resemblance to the reality queen, wearing a form-fitting black high-neck top. Wearing her hair in a slicked-back look, Carina also sported a long kiss curl that fell over her forehead. She finished her look with a pair of large black Blegati sunglasses, sporting an aloof look as she posed next to Angelina. Angelina, 21, was also a vision in black, in a velvet turtleneck top that hugged her slender form. It comes after Angelina recently returned to Melbourne after a whirlwind overseas jaunt. She was spotted heading to a local gym last week, stepping out in black and white activewear. After hanging out with Kanye and his crew in Spain last month, the Instagram model spent time with his entourage in Japan. She took to Instagram last week to share a series of photos of their latest trip, including images of herself dining at popular chain restaurant WAGYUMAFIA and shopping at a high-end store. Meanwhile, a photo of the rapper, 48, posing in designer vintage store Amore also emerged online. Angelina has wasted no time in maximising the profitability of these social media shopping trips with her brother-in-law. She recently posted to her Instagram Stories to advertise a dizzying array of designer shoes, handbags, and winter coats for sale on her Depop account, which is linked in her Instagram bio. The clothing is from a variety of designer and high street brands, and ranges from as affordable as $20 to as pricey as $700. The younger Censori made a splash last August when she wore a pair of white Miu Miu underwear with a nude waistband at another of Ye's listening parties, and has been the most vocal supporter of her sister's marriage to the rapper. She has also gushed about her style after Bianca's outfits made headlines around the world. '[Bianca] has the best wardrobe,' she told Page 13 in January 2024 at Melbourne Fashion Week. 'I love fashion and I always like to do my own thing. I don't follow what influencers are doing but have my own take.' Meanwhile, Carina has long drawn comparisons to the most famous Kardashian star, with some MAFS fans dubbing her 'Temu Kim'. She was roasted after she wore a halter-neck dress that featured a curve-hugging, ruched bodice and a matching headscarf to a MAFS dinner party. Internet sleuths were quick to discover she had borrowed the exact look from Kim's younger sister Kylie, who wore the same dress in a promotional shoot for The Kardashians. In a showreel attached to her website, Carina shared a video in which she said her top five dream red carpet interviewees are: 'Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, The Weeknd and Drake.' Speaking to Daily Mail Australia in January, Carina said she was flattered by the nickname, but laughed it off nonetheless. 'I mean, come on—I'm a little more classy than that! But honestly, I am inspired by Kim's fashion and style,' she said.

AFL star Chris Judd dons a $27,000 Rolex as he steps out solo in Melbourne

Chris Judd flaunted his penchant for luxe accessories this week when he stepped out solo in Melbourne. The former AFL star, 41, cut a dapper figure when he was spotted on the street in South Yarra on Friday. Chris wore a thick black and grey striped denim jacket, buttoned up over a simple light grey T-shirt. He also wore a pair of crisp white chinos, finishing his outfit with a pair of plain white trainers. While wife Rebecca Judd, 42, is known for flaunting her sense of sartorial style on social media, this time it was Chris's turn. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. He accessorised with a swanky Rolex Submariner watch that peeked out from under the sleeve of his denim jacket. The luxe timepiece comes with an equally luxe price tag of around $27,000 (AUD). Sporting a freshly shorn head, Chris looked all business as he took in the sights of South Yarra. He was also spotted chatting on the phone as he stood on the footpath in front of a local café. It comes after wife Rebecca recently proved that Chris still has what it takes to make her heart race. It appears that the couple's 14-year marriage is showing no signs of slowing down as she shared a sexy snap of his shirtless physique in April. The 42-year-old AFL WAG captured the steamy pose while Chris enjoyed the sunshine and practised his golf swing outside their home. Wearing a pair of grey track pants and a baseball cap while standing over the golf tee, a ripped and tanned Chris can be seen flaunting his washboard abs as he considers his next shot. Chris finished his look with a pair of crisp white chinos and a pair of plain white trainers. 'Are you ok?' an impressed Bec said in the caption adding a flame emoji for emphasis. Bec added a short video of the former AFL star practising his swing while their four children - Oscar, 12, Billie, 10, and twins Tom and Darcy, eight - watched on. Rebecca also shared a surprising detail about her husband in a Valentine's Day tribute. Taking to Instagram in February, she posted a dedication to her man, but admitted that the pair do not celebrate the occasion. Alongside a throwback photo with Chris, Bec wrote that the couple don't mark the day for lovers worldwide. 'More than half my life with my Valentine and we've never celebrated a Valentine's Day,' she wrote in her caption. The Judds met at a pub in Perth when they were both teenagers, and wed on December 31, 2010, at Melbourne's Albert Park. Rebecca previously shared her secret to a long and happy relationship on KIIS FM's 3pm Pick-Up radio show. She explained how a bad sleeping arrangement can lead to tension in a marriage, so she makes sure Chris never interrupts her. 'If he comes anywhere near me or if he has a toe touching me at night time, I'll wake him up [and] push him over,' she said. 'I cannot sleep if you're touching me,' the fashion designer continued. 'You actually need to be at least half a metre away from me, so if I want to roll and turn in the night, I can turn and still not have to touch you.' However, Rebecca added she and Chris make sure to have a 'quick kiss and cuddle' before turning out the lights and enforcing the no-touching policy. 'When we were first together, it was better to sleep knowing he was there,' she explained. 'We would be like completely entwined in each other and have the best night's sleep.
