After the administration closed the investigation into Epstein's sex-offences and who else was involved in it, Maxwell started the narrative that she was never asked to offer her side of the story by the administration.
Alan Dershowitz, a Harvard law professor who one represented Epstein, told New York Post that Maxwell is going to make a deal. "That's the way things are done. They make deals with the Mafia, so I'm certain they are going to try to make a deal with her," he said.
Deputy attorney general Todd Blanche confirmed that he would meet Maxwell to find out whether she has credible information on Epstein to offer.
But will Trump pardon her? That would depend on what information Maxwell offers. Maxwell's brother Ian Maxwell said Ghislaine is assembling new evidence to present to the feds. She was given a 20-year sentence for recruiting women, mostly underage girls, to Epstein's sex trafficking ring, though many accounts claim she was also an abuser.
Ian Maxwell said Ghislaine will be putting before the court new material evidence that was not available during the trial.
If Maxwell offers helpful testimony, especially exonerating Trump or revealing damaging info about Epstein's network, a Trump administration or sympathetic DOJ could technically pursue sentence reduction (via Rule 35) or pardon. But pardoning a convicted sex trafficker could seriously damage Trump's standing, as the Epstein issue has already created enough internal strife.

Trump biographer Michael Wolff claimed Trump considered a pardon for Maxwell in 2020 but the idea was rejected by Trump advisers. Insiders believe that Trump is unlikely to pardon Maxwell as he wants everyone to move on from the Epstein case.

France denounces US-European Union trade deal, French PM calls it..., Emmanuel Macron...

(Image: President Donald Trump shakes hands with European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen in Turnberry. Pic: Reuters) New Delhi: France has criticized Sunday's, July 28 trade deal between US President Donald Trump and European Union (EU) President Ursula von der Leyen. French Prime Minister François Bayrou called it a dark day for the EU. What did France say over US-EU trade deal? François Bayrou said the EU had bowed to President Trump's increasing tariff pressure. He wrote on X: 'It is sad when a coalition of independent countries, formed to protect their common values and interests, buckles under pressure.' At the same time, French Minister of European Affairs Benjamin Haddad said that this situation is not good and the EU should take countermeasures. French Trade Minister Laurent Saint-Martin said, 'Trump only understands the language of power. If we should have taken countermeasures earlier, the deal might have been better.' However, French President Emmanuel Macron has remained silent on the matter. What is the response of Italy and Germany? German Chancellor Friedrich Mertz and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni welcomed the agreement. European Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic called it a 'big step' as it averted a trade war between the USA and Europe. Under the agreement, most goods going from Europe to the US will face a 15% tariff, three times the current 4.8%. However, the 30% tariff was avoided after Trump's threat of August 1. How much of Europe's goods will face 15% tariff? According to the details of the agreement, 70% of goods from Europe will be subject to 15% tariff. This includes cars, medicines and electronics. However, some agricultural products such as aircraft parts, some chemicals, semiconductor equipment and cork will not be subject to tariffs. There will be no tariff on drugs yet, and if there is one in the future, it will not be more than 15%. The EU will buy energy worth 750 billion dollars or about 64 lakh crore rupees from America in the next three years. Along with this, the EU will invest 600 billion dollars i.e. 51 lakh crore rupees in America.

Ghislaine Maxwell asks Supreme Court to overturn conviction, citing Epstein deal with federal authorities

Ghislaine Maxwell has petitioned the US Supreme Court to overturn her 2021 sex trafficking conviction, arguing that a non-prosecution agreement Jeffrey Epstein struck with federal authorities should have protected her from criminal charges. 'This case is about what the government promised, not what Epstein did,' her attorneys wrote in a newly filed brief, as reported by Axios. Maxwell, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for grooming and abusing underage girls alongside Epstein, contends that the plea agreement reached between Epstein and the government in 2008 extended immunity to his alleged co-conspirators. Maxwell's lawyer, David Oscar Markus, appealed not just to the court but directly to President Donald Trump, invoking his well-known emphasis on 'deals.' 'President Trump built his legacy in part on the power of a deal—and surely he would agree that when the United States gives its word, it must stand by it,' Markus said. 'We are appealing not only to the Supreme Court but to the President himself to recognize how profoundly unjust it is to scapegoat Ghislaine Maxwell for Epstein's crimes, especially when the government promised she would not be prosecuted.' When asked by reporters if he would consider issuing a pardon for Maxwell, Trump replied: 'Nobody's approached me with it. Nobody's asked me about it. It's in the news about that aspect of it, but right now, it would be inappropriate to talk about it.' Trump has previously said he has the authority to issue such a pardon, without committing either way. Maxwell recently held closed-door meetings with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche on July 24 and 25. The nature of those discussions has not been disclosed in the Supreme Court filing, but the meetings have triggered sharp criticism from Democrats. Senators Dick Durbin and Sheldon Whitehouse have demanded the Department of Justice release transcripts and recordings of the meetings, warning that Maxwell might manipulate the situation in exchange for leniency. In a letter to Blanche, the senators said: 'Given her documented record of lying and her desire to secure early release, there are serious concerns that Ms. Maxwell may provide false information or selectively withhold information, in return for a pardon or sentence commutation.' They also criticised the DOJ for not fulfilling former Attorney General Pam Bondi's promise to make the 'full Epstein files' public.
