As part of efforts to deal with the rush of pilgrims in the last leg of the Kanwar Yatra, the Delhi Traffic Police on Monday issued an advisory announcing the closure of several key roads in the national capital until 8 am on July 23. In a post on social media platform X, the Delhi Traffic Police said from July 21, 2025, 8:00 am to July 23, 2025, 8:00 am, the following roads will remain closed – GT Road from Apsara Border to Shahdara, Seemapuri to Apsara Border, Anand Vihar to Apsara Border, and GT Road to Vivek Vihar Underpass. Traffic from Swami Dayanand Marg to Keshav Chowk (towards GT Road) and traffic from Pusta Road to Shastri Park will also remain closed, the advisory said. In the advisory, the police have also suggested alternative routes. For traffic from Seemapuri to Apsara Border - commuters can use the underpass towards Road No. 56; for Anand Vihar to Apsara Border traffic - the underpass towards Seemapuri; for traffic on GT Road to Vivek Vihar - Apsara Border route and then Road No. 56; for traffic on Swami Dayanand Marg - Vikas Marg or NH-9; and for traffic on Pusta Road - NH-9 or Ring Road. The Delhi Traffic Police further said, 'Please plan your route accordingly and follow traffic guidelines to ensure a smooth journey.' 'Follow traffic diversions and cooperate with authorities during the Kanwar Yatra. Your support ensures the safety of both Kanwariyas and commuters,' the police said. A group of Kanwariyas was allegedly attacked by some intoxicated men in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh following a dispute late Sunday, police said, reported news agency PTI. Police said the incident occurred at around 11 pm near Chandoora village, and the situation was quickly brought under control. Two suspects have been taken into custody. The Kanwariyas, after offering water at the Prasanna Nath Mahadev Temple, were walking from Bhagauli Tirth towards the Lodheswar Mahadev temple in Ramnagar, which is a traditional pilgrimage route followed during the Hindu month of Shravan (Sawan), dedicated to Lord Shiva. There was an altercation between the kanwariyas and a group of men near a shop. As the pilgrims moved ahead, about six men intercepted them near a petrol station between the villages of Raipur and Chandoora and attacked them.

High Court verdict akin to rubbing salt on our wounds: 7/11 train blasts survivor
Gardening contractor Harish Powar lived with the physical and emotional scars of the 7/11 local train bombings while waiting for the closure. However, the acquittal of 12 accused by the Bombay High Court after 19 years has left the Virar resident aghast, prompting him to dub the verdict akin to rubbing salt on the wounds of victims. Mr. Powar, now 44, vividly remembers July 11, 2006, when a bomb blast ripped through the first-class coach of a Virar-bound local train he was travelling in, which left him injured. "The blast scene keeps cropping up in front of my eyes even after almost two decades. I remember bodies lying inside the compartment with blood splattered on its walls. Some people were writhing in pain, while a few others were lying motionless," Powar told PTI. He recalled spotting the head that had flown into the coach due to the explosion's impact. Nineteen years after seven train blasts here killed more than 180 persons, the Bombay High Court on Monday (July 21, 2025) acquitted all 12 accused, saying the prosecution 'utterly failed' to prove the case and it was "hard to believe the accused committed the crime". Dismayed by the verdict, Mr. Powar sarcastically said, "If the accused persons are acquitted, then getting out of our houses for work to feed our family is a we are the culprits". The landscape and gardening contractor had sustained serious injuries to his chest when he was travelling in a first-class compartment of a Virar-bound local train. "After 19 years, nobody would expect such a verdict. If the 12 accused are acquitted, then we should know the real culprits," he said. In a damning indictment of the prosecution's case, the High Court has declared all confessional statements of the accused inadmissible, suggesting "copying'. Stressing that the judiciary is the only hope for the common people, Mr. Powar said such judgements are akin to rubbing salt on the wounds of the victims. "The judgement made common people like me, who travel in packed trains to go to work to sustain our elderly parents and families, look like the main culprits. I don't know who should be blamed for the acquittal of the accused," he lamented. Sank into despondency, Mr. Powar said this judgment has left all the victims upset. The gardener, who worked in South Mumbai, vividly remembers his train ride home from Grant Road station on the fateful day 19 years ago. "I boarded the first-class coach of the 6.05 pm train from Grant Road station to go to Virar. When the train reached Matunga Road station, a strong explosion ripped through the coach. I can't forget the scene even after 19 years. Bodies were lying inside the compartment. Some people were lying injured while others lay motionless. There was blood everywhere". Powar suffered injuries to his chest and was admitted to the hospital for treatment. Recalling his recovery, Powar said he battled physical pains and nightmares for several days. "In the initial four or five days, I couldn't recognise what had happened to me. I couldn't sleep. The bomb blast scene and bodies of victims used to crop up in my dreams," he added. Powar said the psychological trauma lingered on for days. Even after he recovered from injuries, he initially couldn't muster the courage to board a local train- the lifeline of Mumbai. "However, gradually life returned to normal, and it had to, as I have to keep working for my family", he added.

Marvel to have new Iron Man and Captain America, will bring new actors for X-Men film
Los Angeles, July 21 (PTI) Marvel is set to recast characters in its upcoming X-Men franchise and Tony Stark, a character that became synonymous with Robert Downey Jr in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kevin Feige, chief of Marvel Studios, has confirmed that the company has decided to recast the actors following the events in the 'Avengers: Secret Wars", slated to release in December 2027. Many actors from the previous "X-Men" films, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, and Kelsey Grammer, are, however, reprising their roles in "Avengers: Doomsday". It will release in 2026. "We're utilizing that not just to round out the stories we've been telling post-'Endgame (2019),' just as importantly — and you can look at the 'Secret Wars' comics for where that takes you — it very, very much sets us up for the future. 'Endgame,' literally, was about endings. 'Secret Wars' is about beginnings," he told reporters, according to Variety. Feige said the MCU's first X-Men movie, to be directed by "Thunderbolts" director Jake Schreier, will be a 'reset,' not a 'reboot' of the MCU. "Reboot is a scary word. Reboot can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. Reset, singular timeline — we're thinking along those lines. 'X-Men' is where that will happen next," he said. He gave a reference of Amazon MGM's film producers searching for new actors to essay the role of James Bond and the recently released "Superman", as he spoke of replacement. "Amy Pascal and David Heyman are now searching for a new James Bond. David (Corenswet), the new Superman — he was awesome. That will always be the case," he said. Feige mentioned actors Downey Jr and Chris Evans, who have retired from their MCU characters and said it becomes difficult to replace an actor who has done commendable work but it's not impossible. Downey Jr's Tony Stark aka Iron Man dies at the end of "Avengers: Endgame" while Captain America chose retirement. 'I think it's hard for anybody to do that when an actor has done such a great role,' he said. 'How are they going to ever replace Sean Connery (as James Bond), right," he added.
