Chargers bring back Keenan Allen after one season with Bears
The Los Angeles Chargers agreed Tuesday to terms with six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Keenan Allen. Allen returns to the team that drafted him in 2013 after one season with the Chicago Bears. He is second in Chargers history for both receptions (904) and receiving yards (10,530) for a wide receiver. The Chargers traded him to the Bears last offseason for a fourth-round draft pick. Allen had 70 catches for 744 yards and seven TDs in Chicago. Allen reunites with quarterback Justin Herbert, who made the 33-year-old wide receiver his favorite target in their time together, with Allen catching 24 TD passes. Allen joins a wide receiver corps that is different than in recent years. Ladd McConkey returns for his second season after breaking Allen's single-season rookie record for catches and yards. They also have Quentin Johnston, Tyler Conklin and rookies Tre' Harris and KeAndre Lambert-Smith after free agent Mike Williams suddenly retired before the start of training camp. Allen started 138 of 144 games for the Chargers in his first stint with the team. He had a record-setting season in 2023, making a single-season franchise-record 108 catches.

Crochet, Story lead Red Sox to 7th straight win over Royals
BOSTON — Garrett Crochet scattered four hits over seven innings and Trevor Story hit a blooper into center field to break a sixth-inning tie on Tuesday night and led the Boston Red Sox to their seventh straight win, 6-2 over the Kansas City Royals. Crochet (13-4) struck out eight to win his ninth consecutive decision and help Boston win for the ninth time in 10 games. Story drove in two runs in the sixth and and added another RBI single in the three-run seventh, when the Red Sox took a 6-2 lead.

Dallas Wings' Maddy Siegrist returns after missing 18 games due to knee injury, scores 13 in loss to Liberty
Dallas Wings forward Maddy Siegrist made the most of her return to the lineup after missing 18 games with a knee injury. Siegrist scored 13 points in the Wings' 85-76 loss to the New York Liberty on Tuesday night. "It's been a long process building up to the moment. I want to try to help my team," Siegrist said. "I wanted to come out with a win tonight, but to get the first one under your belt is great." Wings coach Chris Koclanes had Siegrist was on a minutes restriction against the Liberty and she played 15. Siegrist, who grew up in Poughkeepsie, New York, joked at shootaround that she would need to tell the 150 friends and friends in attendance to not chant for her to play more. "I'll need to explain to my grandma that I can only play so many minutes," she said laughing. She scored nearly right away when she came into the game four minutes into the first quarter. Siegrist, the NCAA Division I scoring leader ahead of Caitlin Clark when she played for Villanova in 2022-23, was limited to 11 games in an injury-plagued rookie season two years ago. She averaged 9.4 points and 5.2 rebounds in 11 games and had her only double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 boards the game before she was injured, an 81-65 loss to the Minnesota Lynx on June 8. "I'm excited. Oh my gosh, yes," Siegrist said before the game. "I'm excited to get back out there. As a competitor you always have expectations. I just want to feel good and comfortable. My minutes will be limited so that takes some of the pressure off."
