Misunderstanding blamed for fire that razed five luxury cars
Kuala Langat police chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said the incident did not involve members of the public and was limited to the suspects' own circle.
"The motive was a misunderstanding between the victim and the suspect."
He said police have recorded statements from seven people and that no arrests have been made.
Akmalrizal added that petrol was used as the accelerant, based on samples collected by the Fire and Rescue Department.
Police said they were tracking four men suspected of setting fire to the vehicles, which belonged to a man whose house was also partially damaged.
Akmalrizal said the victim and his family were not at home when the fire broke out.
He added that losses were estimated at RM1.6 million, including damage to the front of the house.
The case is being investigated for mischief by fire, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 14 years.
