Misunderstanding blamed for fire that razed five luxury cars
KUALA LUMPUR: A misunderstanding between two parties is believed to have led to a fire that destroyed five luxury vehicles in Bandar Tropicana Aman, Bandar Saujana Putra, on Tuesday. Kuala Langat police chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said the incident did not involve members of the public and was limited to the suspects' own circle. "The motive was a misunderstanding between the victim and the suspect." He said police have recorded statements from seven people and that no arrests have been made. Akmalrizal added that petrol was used as the accelerant, based on samples collected by the Fire and Rescue Department. Police said they were tracking four men suspected of setting fire to the vehicles, which belonged to a man whose house was also partially damaged. Akmalrizal said the victim and his family were not at home when the fire broke out. He added that losses were estimated at RM1.6 million, including damage to the front of the house. The case is being investigated for mischief by fire, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 14 years.

Kuala Langat district police chief Superintendent Akmalrizal Radzi said the incident, which occurred at 6.15pm, involved two local men who were the drivers of the respective vehicles. "Investigations found that the situation stemmed from a misunderstanding when the Hilux driver allegedly attempted to cut the queue from the left lane to access the toll plaza's cash lane," he said in a statement. This, he said led to a minor collision between the Hilux and the lorry. Akmalrizal said following the collision, the Hilux driver tried to engage the lorry driver in a discussion. However, the latter refused to stop and continued driving, prompting a confrontation between the two. "A thorough investigation found no elements of serious crime and both parties have agreed to resolve the matter amicably," he said. He said both drivers have come forward to the Kuala Langat District Police Headquarters to provide their statements regarding the incident. The case is being investigated under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959 (Rule 10 LN 166/59). Akmalrizal also advised the public to avoid making unnecessary speculations about the incident. He added that the situation was eventually brought under control with the help of members of the public who intervened to defuse the tension. Panic as trailer rams into five vehicles along Jalan Klang-Banting
KUALA LANGAT: A moment of panic struck motorists along Jalan Klang–Banting when a trailer truck lost control and rammed into five vehicles near a bank here yesterday. District police chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said the incident occurred at around 12.15pm when the trailer driver lost control of his vehicle and ploughed into the rear of another trailer and four other vehicles. "The four other vehicles involved were a Proton X90, Proton Persona, Proton Gen2, and a Toyota Alphard. "Investigations showed the vehicles had stopped to give way to the Proton Gen2, which was attempting to enter a parking space along the road shoulder, when the incident occurred," he said in a statement today. He added that no injuries were reported and all the vehicle owners have lodged police reports and had their statements recorded. "The trailer driver, in his 40s, holds a valid driving licence and tested negative for drugs. "We have seized the trailer and will send it for technical inspection as part of our investigation into the cause of the accident," he said. Akmalrizal said the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for driving without due care or attention. He also called on the people with information on the case to contact Inspector Mazrol Mohd Din at 011-1853 9115 or 03-3187 2222 to assist in investigations into the case.

Motorcyclist killed after lorry rams into him at traffic light on Jalan Banting-KLIA
KUALA LANGAT: A man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding was rammed by a lorry along Jalan Banting–KLIA here yesterday, in an accident that was caught on video and has since gone viral on social media. District police chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said the incident occurred at around 1.30pm while both vehicles were travelling towards KLIA. "The motorcyclist had stopped at a traffic light intersection when the lorry ploughed into him from the rear. "The impact of the accident caused the rider to be thrown off the motorcycle before he was pinned under the axle of the lorry," he said in a statement today. He added that the victim, identified as a man in his 40s, succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. Akmalrizal said police are investigating the cause of the accident, and the lorry involved has been seized for technical inspection. "The lorry driver has since lodged a report at the district police headquarters, and a statement has been recorded from him. "We have opened an investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving," he said. Akmalrizal also urged those with information on the case to contact Inspector Mohd Sohairi Manaf at 019-999 3077 or 03-3187 2222.
