I&PR Minister laments that govt. could not effectively communicate spree of welfare schemes to the people
The BRS indulged in hoodwinking the people through false propaganda during its 10-year rule and was continuing the same as the main Opposition party in the State. 'Our government is unable to explain to the people about the host of welfare schemes launched in the interests of poor and lower classes,' he said.
The Minister made the remarks during a video conference with the district public relations officers on Tuesday. He recalled how the Indiramma government headed by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy took several initiatives to fulfil the promises ahead of the previous elections as well as schemes that did not find a mention in the party's election manifesto, but was not able to communicate the achievements effectively to the people.
In addition to a slew of welfare schemes like free bus travel to women, LPG cylinder at subsidised price of ₹500, farm loan waiver, Rythu Bharosa and others, the government successfully filled 60,000 vacancies in different departments making Telangana the first State to make such massive recruitments. 'Unlike the previous government which mislead the people through Goebbels' propaganda in its 10-year rule, the Congress government implemented spree of welfare schemes in one-and-a-half years of its rule,' he said.
He cited the distribution of new ration cards to seven lakh families in addition to including names of 15 lakh members in ration cards. The Bhu Bharati Act was enacted to mitigate the hardships faced by farmers in securing rights on their lands. The government had implemented these schemes in spite of the financial constraints it faced ever since it took over the reins.
Mr. Srinivas Reddy directed the I&PR officials to take the schemes to the people as it was their responsibility to effectively communicate the government's welfare-centric schemes.

'INDIA bloc considering option of boycotting Bihar assembly elections': Congress
PATNA: A day after RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav hinted at a possible boycott of the upcoming assembly election over the process being adopted for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Bihar, his ally, the Congress, said that the INDIA bloc was considering the 'unprecedented' option of boycotting the polls. The Congress asserted that it would not accept the electoral rolls being prepared through the Election Commission's ongoing SIR in the state. AICC in-charge for Bihar, Krishna Allavaru, told the media that the INDIA bloc's allies were holding discussions on the issue. 'We challenge Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to pick 1,000 random people in every constituency in Bihar and scrutinise whether the laid-down processes are being followed. If even 25 percent turn out to be genuine, then we will accept the procedure. The truth is, this voter list belongs to the BJP and Gyanesh Kumar. We don't accept it,' Allavaru said. When asked whether his party aligned with Tejashwi's suggestion of possibly boycotting the assembly polls, Allavaru said, 'The INDIA bloc has maintained from day one that the SIR is designed to steal the elections. So, talks are underway on all options. One thing is clear, the votes of the people of Bihar are being stolen. All routes are open. All options are being considered.'

Telangana caste survey a RARE model for India and Sonia's letter a Nobel prize: Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy termed Telangana's Social, Economic, Educational, Employment, Political and Caste (SEEEPC) survey a 'Rare Model' for the country and the letter of Sonia Gandhi to him praising it as a 'Nobel prize and an Oscar' for him. Mr. Reddy was speaking after presenting the survey findings to senior leaders of the Congress at a meeting at the AICC office in New Delhi on Thursday. Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi termed it a 'historic milestone' and said that Mr. Reddy has set a benchmark for the nation. The Chief Minister showcased 88,000 pages of data gathered from an unprecedented door-to-door survey, where the public self-certified their caste and other details. 'This is the first of its kind survey in India to comprehensively collect caste-linked data spanning education, employment, political representation, and social status,' Mr. Reddy said amidst applause from the Congress leadership. The Chief Minister attributed the success to Mr. Gandhi and said that February 4, when the survey started last year, would be celebrated as Social Justice Day in Telangana. Highlighting an interesting finding of the survey, Mr. Reddy said 3.9% of people self-identified as not belonging to any caste. This group was identified as highly educated and English-speaking individuals by an Expert Committee that studied the data scientifically. Turning emotional, the Chief Minister showed a handwritten letter from Sonia Gandhi praising the survey and described it as 'more valuable than a Nobel or an Oscar,' and 'personal lifetime achievement.' The survey revealed that BCs constitute 56.36% of the State's population. Based on these findings, the Telangana government passed two significant bills ensuring 42% reservation for BCs in both local bodies and in education and employment. Criticising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Chief Minister said that Mr. Gandhi made this possible unlike the BJP leaders who simply talk. He also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he was a 'legally converted BC' and would do nothing for the BCs. He said Mr. Modi was forced to repeal the farm laws by Rahul Gandhi, and a similar stand was taken by the Prime Minister on caste survey once Rahul Gandhi stepped up the pressure. Priyanka Gandhi said she was proud of Revanth Reddy for the achievement, and more so for having the political courage to do it. AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar and TPCC president Mahesh Goud were among those present.

Previous govts invoked JP, but failed to honour his wishes: Yogi Adityanath
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said that even as the previous governments in the state invoked Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan and his legacy, they failed to honour his wishes as they did not even upgrade a health centre named after the late socialist leader's wife at his native village Sitab Diara in Ballia district. Unveiling JP's statue in Gorakhpur, the chief minister said: 'At a time when India's democracy was under threat due to the Congress' authoritarian tendencies, it was Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan who revived it and gave it a new lease of life. A true disciple of Mahatma Gandhi, JP dedicated his entire life to upholding India's cultural identity and the core values on which the nation's foundation rests. He lived not for himself but for the country and its people.' Highlighting the long-pending demand to upgrade the health centre in Sitab Diara, Adityanath said, 'Unfortunately, the governments that came to power in his name failed to honour this request. It is our privilege that we have fulfilled his vision by transforming the health centre into a 100-bed facility.' He added, 'Sitab Diara, which is located at the confluence of the Ganga and Saryu rivers on the Uttar Pradesh-Bihar border, is the birthplace of Jayaprakash Narayan. Deeply rooted in his village, JP remained closely connected to it throughout his life. In 1977, he had proposed establishing a health centre there and wished for it to be named after his wife Prabhavati Devi ji.' Meanwhile, the CM asserted that no one will be allowed to grab land illegally in the state and instructed officials to free encroached land and take strict action against those involved in such practices. Hearing grievances during a Janata Darshan at the Gorakhnath temple premises, he assured people that no injustice will be tolerated under his watch. 'The government stands firmly with the poor and the victims,' he said, instructing officials to swiftly free encroached land and take strict action against those involved. Addressing complaints of family land disputes, he emphasised the importance of peaceful resolution through dialogue and fair distribution of property. The chief minister assured them of full government support and handed over applications to officials with instructions to expedite treatment estimates and ensure timely approval through the administration. 'All complaints whether related to revenue, policing, or medical needs must be addressed with transparency, urgency, and compassion,' he added. — PTI inputs
