Aamir Khan recalls being invited to underworld party in Dubai, reveals he declined: ‘They offered me money'
Back in the 1980s and 1990s, the underworld had a strong hold over Bollywood. Big gangsters often tried to pull the strings in the film industry. Around this time,
Aamir Khan
became a star with his blockbuster film 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak', directed by his cousin
Mansoor Khan
in 1988.
But with fame also came dark moments. Aamir recently shared how he once faced a frightening invitation from the underworld.
Underworld people invited Aamir to a party
In the late 1990s, Aamir was at the top of his game. Like many stars back then, he too got an invitation from the underworld to attend a party in the Middle East. In an interview with The Lallantop, Aamir shared, 'I'd said no to the invite to attend their party in the Middle East, probably Dubai.
Some people from the underworld had visited me to invite me to the party.'
He chose not to name anyone, saying, 'I don't take names, even of people from my industry. That's my nature.'
They tried money and favours
The underworld did not stop at just one visit. They kept trying to convince him. Aamir said, 'They tried a lot. They offered me money and offered to get any work done of my choosing. I still refused to come. They quickly changed their tone and said I'd have to come now because my presence had already been announced, and it was a prestige issue.'

'You can tie my hands and legs…'
Aamir stood his ground, even when things turned serious. He recalled, 'That was our last meeting. I said, 'You've been meeting for a month and I've been telling you right from the start that I wouldn't come. You're very powerful so you can bash me up, hit me on the head, tie my hands and legs, and take me forcibly wherever you want, but I wouldn't come on my own.' So they stopped contacting me after that.'
Fear for his family
Even though he spoke boldly, Aamir admitted he was very scared at the time. What worried him most was the safety of his loved ones. 'I had two small kids then. My parents were very concerned. They said, 'What are you doing? They're very dangerous.' So I had said only one thing to them then, 'I want to live my life the way I want. I don't want to go there,'' Aamir shared. He added, 'I was more concerned for the ones close to me.'
At that time, Aamir was married to Reena Dutta. They had tied the knot in 1986. The couple had two kids, Junaid, born in 1993, and Ira, born in 1997. They later divorced in 2002. This incident shows just how much Aamir valued his family's safety over everything else, even if it meant standing up to powerful people.

'Kuberaa' actor Rashmika Mandanna on her parents' initial hesitation about showbiz: "My dad wanted me in business, not films"
Actress Rashmika Mandanna recently opened up about her South Indian upbringing, her family's initial resistance to her film career, and the emotional journey that followed. "Dad wanted me to join his business" Rashmika shared with We The Women that she was never raised with acting as a career option in mind. Having completed her Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Psychology, and English Literature, she was equally drawn to the world of media. 'It would have been lovely either way,' she said when it was highlighted that she could have been a journalist. However, her father had other plans—he wanted her to join and support his business. Coming from a conservative South Indian family, the idea of entering the film industry was seen with suspicion and concern. 'They Were Just Being Protective' Speaking about her parents' mindset, Rashmika said, 'I think in South Indian families, at least back in the day, entering the film industry was considered wrong. They didn't understand how it worked.' As the only child for 16 years before her younger sister was born, Rashmika was especially precious to her parents. IND vs ENG Test: ‘Chosen twice' – Rishabh Pant shares emotional message on India's T20 World Cup win anniversary
Rishabh Pant posted an emotional message on his Instagram. A year on since their historic triumph in Barbados in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa, India's wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has recalled a heartfelt message about how life gave him a second chance. "Not many know what it feels like to be chosen twice — once by life, once by death," read one of Pant's Instagram stories. In his first tournament back in India colours after being out for nearly 14 months due to his injury setback from a road accident, Pant had failed to light up the final with the bat, bagging a duck. But Pant was instrumental in orchestrating a stoppage in play by signalling to his injured knee when South Africa needed 26 runs in four overs with six wickets in hand. Reflecting on the incident, Pant had previously told Star Sports: 'I was actually thinking what to do because the momentum had suddenly shifted (in South Africa's favour), they had scored plenty of runs in 2-3 overs, so I was thinking when that moment would come when we would win the World Cup final. 'I was asking the physio to take time. When Rohit bhai asked if my knee was fine, I said, 'Bhaiya, bas acting kar raha tha' (I was acting all this while). by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Perdagangkan CFD Emas dengan Broker Tepercaya IC Markets Mendaftar Undo Sometimes you have to do these types of things in matches. I'm not saying it works every time, but it does work sometimes, and if it works at that kind of moment, then nothing like it,' he added. Meanwhile, India's title-winning captain Rohit Sharma thought that Pant was in pain. "I genuinely thought that something had happened to him. After the accident he had, I thought he was just trying to… But actually, it was just to stop the game a little bit,' Rohit told Star Sports.
