Who's better: Cassius Winston or Braden Smith? Social media buzzing about this player debate
Who is a better and more accomplished point guard: Michigan State's Cassius Winston or Purdue's Braden Smith? This question has been a hot debate on social media this past week.
Rapheal Davis of the Big Ten Network sparked a hot debate this week when he unveiled his All-Big Ten teams of the 2020s, with one of the biggest discussions on social media being centered around Winston and Smith. Davis gave Winston the nod as the first team selection at point guard over Smith -- who landed on Davis' second team. It's even more notable that Davis that gave Winston the nod over Smith since Davis played at Purdue himself and could have easily gave his former school's guy the nod in a toss-up decision.
Davis noted that Smith could surpass Winston with a strong upcoming senior season, but some (probably many Purdue fans) felt he already deserved the nod over the Spartans legend. When comparing the two star point guard's careers, they are very much similar with both experiencing both personal and team success during their time in college. Smith, of course, still has one more year to further improve his legacy -- and it doesn't hurt his case that the Boilermakers are considered a preseason top five team nationally (in large part to his return for his senior season).

So who would you personally give the nod too? If you're reading this article, you're probably like me and a Spartan, which means you would lean towards Winston. But I do respect the argument for Smith, and wouldn't be opposed to him moving into the first team slot should he have another strong year this upcoming season. Regardless of which way you lean, it's a fun debate to have in the middle of July and I personally thank Davis for putting this list together for some fun Big Ten basketball banter in the heart of summer time.

UNC football expected to be featured on ESPN a lot this season
Expect to see a lot of UNC football on ESPN The countdown to the 2025 college football season rolls on as the month of July wraps up and for the North Carolina Tar Heels, they will usher in a new era under head coach Bill Belichick. After moving on from Mack Brown, the Tar Heels made a big splash and hired Belichick to be the next head coach in hopes of turning this program around. Per Front Office Sports, ESPN networks are 'poised' to show 8 to 10 UNC games this season, showcasing the Tar Heels on their networks with the hope of catching a Deion Sanders-like impact: ESPN networks are poised to show 8, if not 10, of Belichick's first games as UNC coach, sources tell Front Office Sports. 'We have to wait and see. The potential is there,' ESPN senior director of programming and acquisitions Kurt Dargis told FOS. 'There's definitely interest in him outside the typical college football fan. Deion was such a phenomenon. I still can't believe some of the numbers we got that first year he was there. It's too early to say.' Like Sanders, Belichick will make his debut at home against TCU. However, this is in primetime as a standalone game on Labor Day in Chapel Hill. That game is set to be broadcast on ESPN. UNC will also be on an ESPN channel for at least two Friday games when they face off against Cal and Syracuse in October. Whether you like it or not, the nation will get a lot of Belichick and the Tar Heels on their TVs. Broncos salary cap update going into training camp
As the Denver Broncos go into training camp, the team has more than $12.5 million in available salary cap space for the 2025 season. The exact number is uncertain, and the projections vary based on the source. estimates the team has $12,621,678 available. lists the number at $12,928,947. Let's just say it's above $12.5 million. That's enough cap space to give the Broncos wiggle room to add veterans if injuries pop up, and it also gives the team a cushion for when players go on injured reserve and still count against the cap. Denver typically likes to have around $10 million available for the season, so fans shouldn't expect any more big splash moves from the Broncos. Denver might soon begin giving contract extensions to key players, but that wouldn't hurt their 2025 cap space as the team's extension candidates are already signed for this season. The big names to watch on the extension front are wide receiver Courtland Sutton, pass rusher Nik Bonitto and defensive linemen Zach Allen and John Franklin-Myers. The Broncos are probably done signing big-name outside free agents, but notable in-house extensions could be on deck in the coming weeks and months. Stay tuned. 1986 No. 1 Pick Brad Daugherty, Five-Time NBA Champion Derek Fisher, and NBA Veterans Robbie Hummel, Austin Rivers, and Brian Scalabrine to Join NBC Sports' NBA Coverage as Game Analysts Michael Grady Joins as Play-by-Play Voice 2025-26 NBA Season Begins Oct. 21 on NBC and Peacock STAMFORD, Conn. – July 24, 2025 – NBC Sports finalized its NBA game analyst and play-by-play rosters today with the additions of analysts Brad Daugherty, Derek Fisher, Robbie Hummel, Austin Rivers, and Brian Scalabrine, and play-by-play voice Michael Grady. The 2025-26 NBA season begins on NBC and Peacock on Oct. 21. Daugherty, Fisher, Hummel, Rivers, and Scalabrine round out a game analyst roster for NBC Sports which also includes previously announced NBA veterans Jamal Crawford, Reggie Miller, and Grant Hill. Grady joins Mike Tirico, Noah Eagle, and Terry Gannon as NBC Sports' play-by-play voices for the NBA. This group will handle up to 100 regular season games -- including five games a week for portions of the season -- plus the playoffs. Brad Daugherty, the No. 1 overall pick in the 1986 NBA Draft, played nine seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he was a five-time NBA All-Star and had his No. 43 retired by the team. Daugherty had a storied college career at the University of North Carolina, playing two seasons alongside Michael Jordan and earning two first-team All-ACC selections and a second-team All-America selection. As a co-owner of Hyak Motorsports and stockcar enthusiast, Daugherty joined NBC Sports in 2020 as a NASCAR pre- and post-race analyst. A five-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers (2000-2002, 2009-2010), Derek Fisher played 18 seasons in the NBA and appeared in 287 playoff games, second only to LeBron James on the all-time list. The No. 24 overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft out of Little Rock, Fisher played in eight NBA Finals (seven with the Lakers, one with the Oklahoma City Thunder).
