Gigi Paris opens up after 2 years on split with Glenn Powell following Sydney Sweeney romance rumors

Express Tribune10-06-2025
Model Gigi Paris has broken her silence about her breakup with Glen Powell, more than two years after the pair split.
During her appearance on the Too Much podcast, Paris shared emotional details surrounding their breakup, including a revealing phone call that she claims led to the end of their relationship.
The 32-year-old model and the 36-year-old Anyone But You actor split in 2023, after three years together. Their breakup came amid swirling rumors about Powell's alleged romance with his co-star, Sydney Sweeney, while they were promoting their movie. Gigi Paris did not mention Powell or Sweeney by name during the podcast interview, but fans have connected her statements to the high-profile rumors surrounding the two.
Paris explained that, as the rumors intensified, she faced a difficult decision: either pretend everything was fine and allow the public to speculate about her relationship or stand up for herself and walk away. She chose the latter, stating, 'I was shattered,' and described how painful it was to see Powell not publicly shut down the romance rumors.
'It was just, 'This is what I have to do for my job,'' Paris recalled. 'I had two options. I could either pretend like I was going along with everything… or stand up for myself and say, 'No, I'm actually not okay with this, and I'm walking away.''
She continued by expressing her need for respect, especially in a public situation, saying, 'I just wanted respect… just don't make a fool out of someone you've been with for over three years, talking about forever with.' Paris admitted that she felt 'fed to the dogs' in how the situation was handled and that she ultimately had to walk away from the relationship.
Paris also recounted a pivotal phone call she received from Powell while he was in Australia filming. 'I got a phone call from him right when I was about to go to Australia to work…[as] all this s-t was coming out on the Internet,' Gigi explained. 'And he called and said, the producers and I have discussed that I think it's best that you don't come to visit…And that's when I hung up. And I was like, this motherf–r is done to me.'
Despite this phone call, Paris decided to go to Australia anyway, hoping that seeing Powell in person might provide clarity. Instead, she broke up with him face-to-face, an experience she described as emotionally devastating.
'It was the hardest thing I'd ever had to do,' Paris said. 'But then I was stuck there for two weeks doing my jobs… it was very bizarre,' adding that she was prohibited from being near Powell's set during the shoot.
Paris went on to comment on how the media and PR machinery around Powell and Sweeney fueled the rumors, which she claims were strategically managed to serve the movie's promotion. 'Later on, it turned out that it was all… a PR scheme at the expense of our relationship,' Paris said, hinting at the manufactured nature of the rumors that affected her personally.
Throughout the podcast, Paris maintained a sense of humor, joking that she hoped Powell and Sweeney ended up together if it made the PR drama worthwhile for her. 'I honestly hoped that they'd end up together, because I was like, at least it would make it worth it for me,' she said.
Paris and Powell's breakup had already been confirmed by People in April 2023, but she only now shares the emotional details of how she reached the difficult decision to walk away from their three-year relationship.

Megyn Kelly questions why Sydney Sweeney was at Bezos wedding

Megyn Kelly is facing backlash after suggesting that actress Sydney Sweeney was invited to Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's star-studded Venice wedding because of her physical appearance. In a segment aired on The Megyn Kelly Show and posted to the show's official X (formerly Twitter) account, Kelly remarked: 'Sydney Sweeney's the new toast of the town out there because she's got these enormous breasts that everybody's obsessed with… How does she wind up there?' 'At a wedding you're supposed to have people who've known you for a long time..'@WalterKirn on the tacky, PR-approved, celebrity-filled, Jeff Bezos-Lauren Sanchez wedding. Her comment quickly went viral and drew widespread criticism online for being objectifying and dismissive. However, a source cited by Page Six offered a different explanation: Sweeney's invitation was reportedly tied to her upcoming project with Amazon MGM Studios, the film division under Bezos's corporate umbrella. 'She isn't close with Jeff or Lauren personally,' the source clarified, framing the invite as a professional courtesy. Sweeney has not publicly addressed the remarks.

Why did Sydney Sweeney attend Jeff Bezos' wedding?

Actress Sydney Sweeney was among the many celebrities spotted at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's extravagant $50 million wedding in Venice, Italy. While some questioned her connection to the billionaire couple, sources tell Page Six her presence was tied to business, not personal ties. Sweeney, best known for roles in Euphoria, The White Lotus, and Anyone But You, is set to star in and executive produce the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios film Split Fiction. The movie is a video game adaptation directed by Jon M. Chu (Wicked) and penned by the writers of Deadpool & Wolverine. With Bezos' company backing the film, insiders say Sweeney attended the wedding as a gesture of respect to the studio head. 'She is not friends with either one of them,' a source told Page Six, 'but came to pay respects to the 'boss,' just like in the old days of Hollywood.' During the weekend festivities, Sweeney was seen walking through Venice with actor Orlando Bloom and reportedly danced with Tom Brady during the reception. Her attendance added to the star-studded guest list, which included Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kim Kardashian, and Jerry Seinfeld. Sweeney previously worked with Amazon on the 2021 Prime Video film The Voyeurs and continues to build her presence in both acting and production. Split Fiction, which follows two authors trapped in their fictional worlds, is currently in development and seeking a co-star for Sweeney.

Edgar Wright's 'The Running Man' trailer puts Glen Powell on the run

Edgar Wright is back with a vengeance in the first official trailer for The Running Man, his bold reimagining of the Stephen King dystopian novel. Scheduled to hit theatres on November 7, 2025, the film stars Glen Powell as Ben Richards, a man thrust into a deadly TV game show to secure funding for his sick daughter. Unlike the 1987 version, this adaptation hews closely to King's original story. Set in a grim near-future, the plot centres on contestants hunted for 30 days by paid assassins as millions watch. Desperate, Richards steps into the arena, becoming an unexpected symbol of resistance. Powell brings intensity to the role, reportedly pushing himself in physically demanding stunts, including explosions and jet-engine roar scenes, a process he described as the hardest of his career. His performance earned high praise, especially with Wright and his Scott Pilgrim vs. the World collaborator Michael Bacall handling the script. Joining Powell is a powerhouse ensemble: Josh Brolin plays ruthless producer Dan Killian, Colman Domingo hosts the deadly show, and other competitors include Katy O'Brian and Daniel Ezra. The cast is rounded out by Lee Pace, Michael Cera, Jayme Lawson, William H. Macy, and Sean Hayes. Wright's signature style is on full display in the trailer, seamlessly blending dark humour, kinetic action, and social satire echoing his work in Shaun of the Dead and Baby Driver. Cinematographer Chung-hoon Chung, fresh off Last Night in Soho, captures the high-adrenaline sequences with sharp precision. Powell even secured Arnold Schwarzenegger's blessing for the role, reaching out through Schwarzenegger's son Patrick, earning praise from the original 1987 'Runner' himself. With its high stakes, physical thrills, and biting commentary on televised violence, The Running Man promises to be one of 2025's most provocative action hits. Fans eager for a fresh yet faithful take on King's classic have plenty to look forward to this fall.
