A controversy erupted in Rajasthan after a video surfaced on social media showing Hindu students being made to recite Islamic verses (Kalma) during a morning prayer session. The incident, which occurred at Bakhshi Springdales School in Kota, has sparked outrage among Hindu outfits, who have warned of massive protests if action was not taken against the management. At the centre of the row is a video showing students reciting the Kalma - an Islamic declaration of faith - during the school assembly. The school authorities, however, said the footage was several years old and was recorded during an annual function. advertisementSCHOOL SAYS OLD FOOTAGE
Amid the uproar, the school director said that for the past 30 years, the institution has followed a "Sarva Dharma Prarthana" tradition, where prayers of all faiths are recited. The school director said he himself was a retired naval officer and his father also served in the Army and fought three wars. "Education has no religion. We do Sarva Dharma Prarthana while respecting all religions," he said.An investigation has also been launched by the district education department. An inquiry team, led by the chief block education officer of Kota, visited the school and spoke with students.HINDU OUTFITS WARN OF PROTESTSHowever, it has done little to soothe matters. Several Hindu organisations alleged that religious views were being imposed on students and demanded immediate action. The outfits have also warned of larger protests.advertisementDistrict Education Officer Krishna Kumar Sharma said a thorough probe was being conducted, and appropriate action would be taken under departmental guidelines."Yesterday, we received a video that appeared to show a specific religious prayer being recited at a school. Upon receiving the video, we immediately formed an inquiry committee. Once we receive the report, appropriate action will be taken. As it is a CBSE-affiliated school, the report will also be forwarded to the board," Sharma said.- EndsTrending Reel

UP Enforces Food Licenses Display On Kanwar Yatra Route, Opposition Hits Out

Lucknow: The UP government's move to make it mandatory for all shops along the Kanwar Yatra route to have proper licenses and clearly display the owner's original name has come in for criticism from the opposition. However, the state government has defended the move, with senior minister Sanjay Nishad saying that the accusation holds no weight. Mr Nishad said, "The party whose nameplate the public has torn down and thrown away, that party's words hold no weight... Our government makes decisions for the welfare of the public, which is why the public stands with us..." Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, said that every buyer had the right to know who they were purchasing things from. "The Samajwadi Party always engages in appeasement politics... We will maintain law and order in every situation... Every buyer has the right to know and understand from whom they are purchasing edible items, and this is also a regulation. If they are writing it or being asked to write it, what problem do they have with it?" he said. Senior Minister OP Rajbhar said, "The government strives to ensure that every festival is conducted plans the government is making, they are for all castes and religions. Different religions have different arrangements, so this was done to avoid any opposition always speaks against the ruling party, this is their only work" Earlier, reacting to the Kanwar Yatra 'nameplate' row Congress National Spokesperson Shama Mohamed said that this is an attempt to divert attention. She also mentioned that these things should never be allowed. "This happens when you have no development and employment. You have to divert attention. You bring this out again to show this is a Muslim shop, this is a Hindu shop. So these things should never be allowed. I'm very proud of Rahul Gandhi, who stands for everyone...," said Mr Shama Mohamed. AIMIM (All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen) chief Asaduddin Owaisi also slammed the UP government over its directive. "There are many hotels near the Muzaffarnagar bypass. These hotels have been there for years. Didn't the Kanwar Yatra start here 10 years ago? The Kanwar Yatra used to start peacefully. There was no unrest there. Why is all this happening now? Now, they are asking for Aadhaar cards from hoteliers. They are making shopkeepers remove their pants," he said. The Yatra began on June 10. In the Kanwar Yatra procession, Kanwariyas collect water from a river and carry it hundreds of kilometres to offer it to the shrines of Lord Shiva. According to Hindu beliefs, Parshuram, a devotee of Shiva and Lord Vishnu's avatar, participated in the initial procession. Devotees across the country perform worship, fasting and pilgrimage dedicated to the Lord Shiva.

‘I get calls every day, but I am not entertaining one until...': Sonam Raghuvanshi's brother on legal help for sister

Govind Raghuvanshi, the brother of Sonam Raghuvanshi — the main accused in the murder of Indore-based transport businessman Raja Raghuvanshi — has reportedly said that he is not speaking to any lawyer regarding her case until the police investigation is complete and he personally meets her. Raja Raghuvanshi's family members, cut out the picture of his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi from a poster of their marriage after she was accused of plotting Raja's murder in Meghalaya, in Indore,(PTI) Sonam, along with three other suspects, is currently lodged in a jail in Meghalaya in connection with Raja's murder during the couple's honeymoon in Meghalaya. The Indore couple had gone missing on May 23 during their honeymoon. On June 2, Raja's mutilated body was found in a deep gorge in Sohra, Meghalaya. Sonam was later found at a roadside eatery in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur. Govind said that he has received multiple offers from legal professionals willing to represent Sonam, while talking to News18 MP, 'I've been receiving calls from at least 10 to 15 lawyers, offering to take up the case and handle everything. But I have asked all of them to wait. As I've said before, I do not want to hire any lawyer right now, and that's still the case. We will not hire any lawyer until we have spoken to Sonam,' he said. 'Not searching for lawyer' When asked about his plans to engage a lawyer, Govind clarified, 'Look, I haven't spoken to any lawyer yet, nor am I searching for one. Since day one, I have insisted that I want to meet Sonam. But since the ongoing police investigation, meeting her right now wouldn't be appropriate. Once the probe is complete, I want to meet her. Only after that will I make any decision.' They have full rights to do so, and we would also like to be with them during the ritual... Tradition also says that the family should perform the pind daan so that they can do it,' reported Live Hindustan. 'Returned all gold jewellery to Raja's family' On the jewellery given to Sonam by Raja's family during the wedding, Govind added: 'We've returned all the gold that Raja's family gave to Sonam. Only one chain remains, which is in police custody. They can collect it from the police once the proceedings are over. Other than that, everything has been returned from our side.' Raja and Sonam were married on May 11. Their case has drawn significant attention, with ongoing investigations in two states and family members on both sides making public statements. An Indian-origin man from New Jersey has been charged with battery after a disturbing mid-flight incident aboard a Frontier Airlines flight from Philadelphia to Miami, where he allegedly assaulted a fellow passenger in what witnesses described as a bizarre and unprovoked outburst. The accused, 21-year-old Ishaan Sharma, reportedly began behaving erratically as the flight neared Miami-Dade International Airport. Keanu Evans, the passenger seated behind Sharma, told WSVN that Sharma started muttering strange threats and let out a 'dark laugh" moments before lunging at him. 'He was doing some, like, dark laugh like, 'ha ha ha ha ha.' And he was saying things like, 'you punt, mortal man, if you challenge me, it will result in your death,'" Evans recalled.
