Abou El-Enein Foundation Continues Efforts in 11th Relief Convoy to Gaza
In a powerful display of solidarity and humanitarian commitment, the National Alliance for Civil and Development Work launched its 11th relief convoy to Gaza on Saturday, with strong participation from civil society organizations — notably the Abou El-Enein Foundation for Social and Cultural Work.
Hundreds of volunteers from the Foundation took part in preparing the trucks loaded with food, medical, and relief supplies over the past several days. Their efforts form part of a broader national response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, reflecting Egypt's unwavering support for the Palestinian people.
The convoy's departure was attended by Dr. Khaled Abdel Aziz, Chairman of the National Alliance's Board of Trustees, MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the Abou El-Enein Foundation, and Ambassador Nabila Makram, Head of the Technical Secretariat of the Alliance.
In his remarks, Abou El-Enein said that the Foundation's participation follows direct instructions from Egypt's political leadership and embodies the collective conscience of the Egyptian people. He emphasized that the Foundation had mobilized all logistical and human resources to ensure the success of the mission, with hundreds of volunteers working tirelessly on sorting, packaging, and transportation. He added that coordination efforts were made to ensure the swift and efficient delivery of aid.
Ambassador Nabila Makram expressed pride in the scale of the societal engagement, noting that the convoy represents the true power of Egyptian civil society. 'The National Alliance has become a unifying platform that transforms the emotions of the Egyptian people into real action,' she said, praising the Abou El-Enein Foundation and other partners for their noble commitment and rapid response.
Convoy Contents and Logistics
The convoy included trucks filled with thousands of boxes of dry food, ready meals, hygiene products, blankets, bottled water, and children's supplies — all prepared according to strict quality and packaging standards. Field coordination points were also established between Alliance teams and Rafah Crossing officials to ensure the safe and direct delivery of aid to Gaza residents.
Ongoing Commitment Since October 2023
This convoy is part of a sustained effort by the Abou El-Enein Foundation, which has been actively involved in relief missions since the war on Gaza erupted in October 2023. The initiatives operate under the supervision of the National Alliance and in close coordination with the relevant authorities.
Through its involvement in the 11th relief convoy, the Abou El-Enein Foundation continues to affirm that civil society in Egypt is not merely a charitable actor, but a strategic humanitarian partner capable of responding to crises and reinforcing the state's role on both national and regional levels.

Senior Hamas official slams US envoy's 'staged' visit to Gaza
'Mr. Witkoff, Gaza is not an animal farm that requires a staged personal visit to take some personal photos in front of the death traps overseen by your American companies,' Basem Naim, a former Palestinian health minister in Gaza, said in a statement shared with CNN. 'To remind you once again: The people of Gaza are not a group of beggars, but a free, proud, and noble people (if you understand what these words mean), who seek only their freedom, independence, and return to their homeland,' Naim said. Witkoff entered the southern Gaza city of Rafah on Friday to visit a controversial US-backed aid distribution site, run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) Naim said the GHF distribution mechanism was a 'humanitarian scandal.' The mechanism was set up to replace the United Nations' aid role in Gaza, after Israeli officials complained that UN aid was making it to Hamas. But the GHF mechanism has been broadly criticized for failing to improve conditions as starvation spreads in Gaza. More than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli military while trying to get food, hundreds of them near GHF sites, according to the UN. The GHF disputes this.

Egypt issues another warning to Ethiopia over GERD
Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam warned Ethiopia against its continued unilateral action in managing the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), as such actions pose a direct threat to Egypt's water security. Sewilam's remarks came during a phone interview with Ahmed Moussa's TV show 'Ala Massoulity' (On My Responsibility) on Saturday. Egypt is closely monitoring developments regarding the GERD, and has emphasized the need for Ethiopia to adhere to international law and recognize Egypt's water rights. Water relations with the southern Nile Basin countries, such as Tanzania, Congo, and South Sudan are good, while they remain tense with Ethiopia. The minister explained that Egypt faces water scarcity, with an annual per capita share of approximately 500 cubic meters, compared to the international water poverty rate (1,000 cubic meters). Sewilam denied the existence of a water crisis in Egypt, assuring that the country is capable of managing its water challenges thanks to massive investments worth LE500 billion in water projects, including water treatment and recycling. Egypt has increased the volume of recycled water from 21 billion cubic meters two years ago to an expected 26 billion in the coming months, to address water scarcity and support agriculture in the desert. The Egyptian minister emphasized that the High Dam plays a crucial role in protecting Egypt from flooding, noting that this year's flooding was above average – a positive indicator. Sewilam revealed the ministry's use of mathematical models and modern technology to accurately monitor rainfall flows from Nile Basin countries, with a focus on improving the efficiency of water distribution for agriculture and households. Egypt has repeatedly affirmed its rejection of Ethiopia's unilateral actions, especially after the dam's filling began in 2020 without a tripartite agreement. In December 2023, Egypt suspended negotiations with Ethiopia after several previous rounds of negotiations failed due to what Sewilam described as Ethiopia's 'evasiveness and procrastination.' Egypt is demanding a binding agreement that guarantees that its water share will not be harmed, noting that the dam is 'illegal' due to its failure to comply with international law. It has also expressed concern about the dam's strength, warning of the risk of its collapse for Sudan and Egypt.
