Two suspected criminals killed in shoot-out with cops in Jitra
Kedah police chief Datuk Fisol Salleh said before the incident, policemen patrolling the area came across a suspicious four-wheel drive vehicle before being ordered to stop.
"The suspects then opened fire on the police vehicle, ending in a shootout that left both suspects killed in the vehicle.
"In the vehicle, police found two firearms, a revolver and semi-automatic pistol, several bullets, a machete and tools for carrying out their criminal activities," he told reporters at the scene.
He said a background check on one of the suspects, aged 41, revealed that he has more than 40 criminal records while the identity of the other suspect was still unknown due to lack of identification.
"We believe these two are part of a larger group that commits violent crimes across the country, including drug trafficking, gangsterism, factory break-ins and armed robberies... this gang is believed to have been active since 2020.
"So far, the Forensic Unit has found three bullet casings at the scene and the investigation process is still underway. The bodies of the two suspects have been sent to the Forensic Department of the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for autopsy and the case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code (for attempted murder),' he said.
Meanwhile, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID ) acting director Datuk Fadil Marsus, who was also present at the crime scene, said the two suspects are believed to be involved in a criminal gang committing serious crimes.
"We are investigating whether these suspects are linked to a criminal group in Klang, Selangor...the group is believed to have more than 30 members and police will take more aggressive action moving forward,' he said. - Bernama

Drug traffickers try to ram police, two arrested in Sabah
BEAUFORT: Police were forced to open fire on a car's tyres after three suspected drug traffickers attempted to flee during a pre-dawn raid, nearly ramming into officers in the process. The incident occurred at 4.15am on Friday along Jalan Membakut during 'Op Gempur', an operation conducted by the Beufort district police's Narcotics Crime Investigation Division. District police chief Superintendent Wong Leong Meng said the suspects' vehicle was initially intercepted by police, who identified themselves by shouting "police". "However, the driver responded aggressively by accelerating the vehicle towards the raiding team, nearly hitting them. "In self-defence, officers were forced to fire several shots at the car's tyres," he said when contacted today. He said the suspects' car was later found by the roadside along the Pan Borneo Highway near Kampung Lumat. "The three suspects attempted to flee into nearby bushes, but two were apprehended while one remains at large. "The two arrested suspects are aged 18 and 29," he said. Further investigation led to the discovery of a cigarette box containing 51.28 grammes of methamphetamine worth RM3,800, found in one of the suspects' trouser pockets. Police also seized the car, a key, and several mobile phones to assist in the investigation. "Checks showed that one of the suspects has four prior drug-related offences, while the other has no criminal record. "Both suspects have been remanded and are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 307 of the Penal Code," he added. Meanwhile, Wong said police are still tracking down the third suspect and working to identify the source of the drug supply linked to the group.

Another suspected criminal killed in police shootout in Sungai Petani
SUNGAI PETANI: Police shot dead another suspected criminal involved in armed robberies during an operation in Bandar Puteri Jaya. The 34-year-old man, believed to be part of a gang responsible for multiple violent crimes, was killed in a shootout with authorities. Acting director of Bukit Aman's Criminal Investigation Department, Datuk Fadil Marsus, confirmed the incident occurred at 7.50 pm. He stated that the suspect resisted arrest, leading to an exchange of gunfire. 'This was a coordinated operation involving multiple police contingents. The suspect had over 30 prior criminal records and was linked to armed robberies, gangsterism, and drug trafficking since 2022, causing losses of nearly RM6 million,' Fadil said. Authorities recovered a pistol and other items from the suspect. He was also connected to recent armed robberies in Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, and Perak. Fadil reiterated the police's commitment to aggressively pursuing violent criminals, particularly those using firearms. The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code.
