
Central Railway to run 44 extra special trains for Ganpati festival
The train services will be operated from the third week of August and will last till the second week of September.
Ganpati Special trains include eight bi-weekly special services between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) and Sawantwadi Road, and 36 unreserved MEMU special services between Diva and Khed. Besides, the Diva–Chiplun–Diva MEMU Daily Unreserved Special trains have been extended by two more services, bringing the total number of services on that route to 40, the Central Railway said.
LTT–Sawantwadi Road Bi-weekly Special (Train No. 01131/01132)
Starting August 28, the LTT–Sawantwadi Road special (Train No. 01131) will run every Thursday and Sunday. It will depart from LTT at 8.45 am and reach Sawantwadi Road at 10.20 pm the same day. The return service (Train No. 01132) will start from Sawantwadi station at 11:20 pm on the same days and reach LTT at 12.30 am the next day.
These trains will halt at major Konkan stations, including Thane, Panvel, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Kudal, and others. The train composition includes 2 AC 3-Tier coaches, 12 Sleeper Class coaches, 6 General Second Class coaches, and 2 Second Seating cum Guard's brake vans.
Diva–Khed MEMU Unreserved Daily Specials (Train No. 01133/01134)
Thirty-six MEMU services will operate between Diva and Khed from August 22 to September 9. The Diva–Khed train (01133) will depart daily at 1.40 pm and arrive at Khed by 10 pm. The return Khed–Diva train (01134) will run from August 23 to September 9, departing at 8 am and reaching Diva at 1 pm. These unreserved services are designed to serve short-distance passengers and will halt at 24 intermediate stations, including Panvel, Pen, Roha, Mangaon, and Veer.
Extension of Diva–Chiplun MEMU Services
Previously scheduled to run till September 8, the Diva–Chiplun–Diva MEMU Specials (Train No. 01155/01156) will now operate till September 10, with two additional services. These MEMU services have been in high demand and cater largely to daily commuters and festival travellers along the Konkan route.

Meanwhile, members of the Monthly Pass Holders and Passenger Welfare Association in Nashik requested Kumar to introduce a new train from Nashik Road to Pune via Kalyan, with a 5.30am departure time from Nashik Road. They also sought the extension of the Manmad-Kachheguda Ajantha Express up to Nashik Road to directly connect two religious places. New waiting halls & lounges to enhance passenger comfort at Nagpur station
Nagpur: As part of the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Central Railway's Nagpur Division is rapidly advancing the redevelopment of Nagpur Railway Station, with a special focus on enhancing passenger comfort through state-of-the-art waiting halls and lounges. On the east side, a modern and spacious waiting hall is under development with upgraded flooring, stylish wall cladding, improved ventilation, and energy-efficient lighting. False ceiling and louver installation works are in progress, aiming to offer a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing environment for travellers. The west side will soon feature an elegant lounge area designed for long-distance passengers. This space is being refurbished with premium seating arrangements, Divyangjan-friendly amenities, and enhanced sanitation facilities to ensure inclusivity and hygiene. At the concourse level, a grand common waiting area is taking shape between Line 18/19. The foundation and slab work are already completed. This space will serve as a central hub for transit passengers, providing integrated amenities such as digital displays, drinking water stations, and accessible pathways.

Special trains from Vasco-da-Gama for Velankanni festival
Special trains will be operated from Vasco-da-Gama to Velankanni and back to clear the extra rush of passengers in view of the Velankanni festival. The Vasco-da-Gama - Velankanni Express Special (07361) will leave Vasco-da-Gama at 9.55 p.m. on August 27, September 1, and 6 (Wednesday, Monday and Saturday) and reach Velankanni at 3.45 a.m. the third day - Friday, Wednesday and Monday - respectively. In the return direction, the Velankanni-Vasco-da-Gama Express Special (07362) will leave Velankanni at 11.55 p.m. on August 29, September 3 and 8 — Friday, Wednesday and Monday and reach Vasco-da-Gama at 3 a.m. the third day — Sunday, Friday and Wednesday respectively. The special trains will be operated with one AC First Class-cum-AC two tier coach, one AC two-tier coach, two AC three-tier coaches, 11 sleeper class coaches, four general second class coaches and two second class coaches (Divyangjan friendly).
