Jennifer Love Hewitt breaks silence on Sarah Michelle Gellar feud rumors: We have ‘not talked' in 28 years
'I honestly don't even know what that was or how that all came to be,' the actress, 46, told Vulture in a profile published Friday. 'I just think people don't want the narrative to be easy. Why do we always have to be against each other and out for each other?'
'I haven't seen Sarah. Literally, we've not talked since I saw her at 18 years old when the first movie came out,' Hewitt explained, revealing they have not stayed in touch since the original 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' released.
'That's why it's so funny to me. People were like, 'Say something back.' And I'm like, 'What am I going to say? I've not seen her.''
'On my side, we're good. I have no idea where this is coming from,' she added.
Both actresses starred in the 1997 slasher alongside Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Prinze Jr. — Gellar's now-husband.
Hewitt and Prinze Jr. reprise their role as Julie James and Ray Bronson, respectively, in the latest sequel that hit theaters on Friday. Though the 'Cruel Intentions' star's character, Helen Shivers, was killed off in the first film, she shows up for a quick cameo via a dream sequence.
The 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' star and the 'Ghost Whisperer' star were both in attendance at the July 14 premiere. However, they noticeably did not pose together on the red carpet — adding fuel to the feud rumors.
Following the event, Gellar shut down speculation from fans who claimed that the stars purposefully avoided each other at the premiere.
'The beef is real,' one person commented on her post from the event. 'It makes me so sad there is ZERO recognition for Jennifer Lover Hewitt,' another eagle-eyed fan wrote on Instagram.
Gellar quickly responded to the critics in the comments, writing, 'For everyone asking — I never got to see @jenniferlovehewitt who is fantastic in the movie.'
'I was inside with my kids when the big carpet happened,' she added. 'And unfortunately JLH didn't come to the after party.'
'If you have ever been to one of these it's crazy. I sadly didn't get pics with most of the cast. But that doesn't change how amazing I think they all are. Unfortunately some things happen only in real life and not online,' she concluded.
Fans applauded Gellar for her explanation and responded back with kind messages in the comments.
'Thanks for clearing that up queen, was making me a little sad because I love you both so much!'
'Thanks queen, the fans deserved it
,' another chimed in.
Hewitt also received praise after the premiere, but for her red carpet look. Her comments were flooded with fans and fellow celebs gushing over her red hair that she debuted at the event.
'I have wanted to be red for so long!' she captioned an Instagram photo showing off her dyed hair. '@nikkilee901 crushed this color! She named my color Sunset Lover
Thank you'
'This is a yes for me.
,' actress Alyssa Milano commented.
Meanwhile, her 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' co-star Tommy DiDario joked, 'Ravishing in red!
Should I go red to match???'

Kylie Jenner Embraces Summer's Wildest Flip-Flops
Love it or loathe it, it's undeniably the summer of flip-flops. The humble beach shoe, favored for its simplicity and ease, has been trending in a more high-fashion context this season. Suddenly, there are now celebrities wearing $750 The Row flip-flops with bright red soles, or flip-flops with sky-high platforms that are totally reminiscent of the '90s. The sandal has become less about something you wear to take a quick dip in the ocean, and more about making a bold statement. Naturally, Kylie Jenner is embracing the latter: She just posted an Instagram 'fit pic in which she is rocking one of the wildest flip-flops on the market. 'The energy I'm bringing to my shoot today,' Jenner captioned her selfie, in which she is rocking a death-defying pair of ERL clunkers. Coming in with a staggering 5-inch platform, the $375 style requires serious balancing skills, and instantly commands an outfit. Jenner styled them with a black bra top and athletic track pants, allowing them to be the focal point. (I mean, the supersized shoes are hard to miss.)

Amazon's latest move spells trouble for audio-based podcasting
Amazon is gearing up for a significant restructuring of Wondery—the podcast studio behind popular shows like Scamfluencers, Dr. Death, and Business Wars —and it might be a signal that the podcasting industry is shifting to more video-centric formats. Wondery was founded in 2016 as a studio dedicated to spotlighting long-form, narrative-based podcasts (think stories and formats along the lines of This American Life 's iconic Serial). It was acquired by Amazon in 2021 at the height of the pandemic-induced podcast boom for a reported $300 million. Now, Wondery's brand and existing shows will be shuffled off into larger Amazon products as its CEO Jen Sargent and around 110 employees are let go from the company. A recent analysis from the analytics firm Grand View Research shows that the global podcasting market size was estimated at $30.72 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach $131.13 billion by 2030. But while podcasting is still on an upward trajectory, the way that fans consume podcasts is clearly shifting: Now, listeners are turning to podcasts that also include a video component, with popular podcasts like The Joe Rogan Experience and Call Her Daddy increasingly relying on repostable video formats. 'The podcast landscape has evolved significantly over the past few years,' Steve Boom, Amazon's vice president of audio, Twitch and games, wrote in a memo to Wondery staff viewed by Fast Company. 'The rise of video has also blurred the lines on what it means to be a podcast creator.' Bad news for audio-only podcasts In an initial report on August 4, Bloomberg claimed that Amazon was planning to fully shutter Wondery. However, Amazon has since clarified that it is not closing down the brand, and instead plans to keep at least some of its properties afloat under a new structure, but things are changing. The team responsible for Wondery's narrative podcast series, including Dr. Death, Business Wars, and American Scandal, will now report to Amazon's Audible podcast vertical. Meanwhile, celebrity-led podcasts including Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert and Jason and Travis Kelce's New Heights will join a new organization called 'Creator Services' under the Amazon umbrella. 'This new team will continue to operate our creator-led podcast studio under the Wondery brand, working with a select number of top creators to drive scaled listenership and unlock broader and long-lasting relationships across Amazon,' Boom wrote in the staff memo. In response to Fast Company 's request for more details on whether any Wondery shows will be canceled, and Amazon spokesperson shared, 'We're still finalizing content distribution details for specific shows, and will share updates once decisions are made.' On the reasoning behind the restructuring, they added, 'The podcast landscape has evolved significantly in the past few years, particularly with the rise of video-forward, creator-led content. These changes reflect that evolution and will streamline how Wondery integrates further into Amazon.' The video-based podcast evolution is having ripple effects across the entire industry. Currently, YouTube is the number one place that podcasts are consumed, topping one billion total podcast views per month this February. This year, Spotify picked up on the trend by leaning hard into its video podcasting arm, taking cues from social media in its UX design. Netflix that it may make a move into video podcasting.
