Drug dealer caught by mobile phone records jailed
Police searched the Sheffield home of 25-year-old Brandon Hodson in March 2024 and found drugs paraphernalia and a mobile phone.
Analysis of his calls showed he had been involved in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin for almost a year, a court heard.
Hodson, of Blackstock Road, was jailed at Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday after pleading guilty to a charge of being concerned with the supply of crack cocaine and heroin.
South Yorkshire Police said analysis of mobile phone records revealed Hodson was involved in a drugs line from April 2023 until March 2024, days before his arrest on 12 March.
He was charged with being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin, holding a person in slavery or solitude and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence.
Hodson was found not guilty of holding a person in slavery or solitude and possession of a firearm.
The police said an application would be made under the Proceeds of Crime Act to recover the money Hodson made from the drugs line.

Emergency worker assaulted in city centre disorder
Four people have been arrested after an emergency worker was assaulted in a city centre brawl. Officers were called to what they described as a "large altercation" in Low Ousegate, York, at 19:45 BST on Saturday. North Yorkshire Police said the arrests were made for "various offences" including affray and assault of an emergency worker. A police spokesperson said three of the four people had since been bailed with conditions which prevented them from entering York city centre. Supt Ed Haywood-Noble said: "We are committed to tackling all types of unacceptable and criminal behaviour in our city centre at night. "The vast majority of people are using the city's bars without issue or incident and those who are intent on committing crime in York are not welcome." 'Daftest' city flytipper caught on camera
A Coventry City Council employee has posted what they believe could be the "daftest" video yet of fly-tipping in the city. The local authority has run a series of videos entitled "Coventry Wall of Shame", highlighting illegal dumping in the city. The most recent video includes a clip of a man on a bicycle with a large, round object balanced on his head. The incident took place on Bedlam Lane on 10 June, and anyone with information is urged to contact the council. "I've been making these videos for about a year, and this might be the daftest clip I've had yet," the council commentator said. "I can't tell if it's a lampshade or some sort of chair thing. Human remains found after dad went missing almost six years ago
Human remains have been found following a near-six-year search to find a missing dad. Police say the family of Richard Dyson have been kept informed of developments after the discovery was made in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, last week. Richard, 58, was last seen in November 2019 and his family have issued multiple heartfelt pleas to find him in the years since he first disappeared. Andy Knowles, senior investigating officer at South Yorkshire Police, said: 'We are keeping an open mind following this discovery, and working around the clock to establish the identity of the person involved and the circumstances surrounding this development. 'Richard Dyson and his family remain at the forefront of our minds as we progress our enquiries, and we know how important it is for them to get answers. 'We remain keen to hear from anyone with any information which could assist us, no matter how insignificant it may seem. Please get in touch and tell us what you know.' Formal identification of the remains is yet to take place, South Yorkshire Police said on Monday night (July 21), but Richard's family are aware of the situation. Residents have been warned to expect an ongoing police presence at the three scenes - on Dike Hill, Sheffield Road and Hoyland Common - for the next couple of weeks while enquiries continue. The two suspects were re-arrested last Monday on suspicion of murder and later bailed pending further enquiries. They were previously arrested in connection with Richard's disappearance in March 2021 and re-arrested in July 2023. Richard's last known sighting was at was around 11pm on Sunday, November 17 2019, when he was spotted walking along the A6135 Sheffield Road in Hoyland. She said in December 2021: "I feel like breaking down and crying every second of every day... Every year without him that shock and disbelief just grows." Bethany added: "Every day waking up and not knowing what happened hurts, it feels like I can't get any closure not having any answers. "Somebody must know something, and I just don't understand why anyone would keep anything like that to themselves and would put a family through so much pain."
