The drama is lauded for its strong character portrayals—Qin Wan's forensic prowess and Yan Chi's (Ao Ruipeng) supportive partnership resonate deeply with viewers. Meticulously authentic forensic details and exquisite costumes and set designs greatly enhance the immersive experience.
In line with iQIYI's international localization strategy, "Coroner's Diary" launched simultaneous localized dubbed versions in Indonesian, Vietnamese, and Thai.
By its second week, the Indonesian version ranked fourth on iQIYI's drama channel. The Vietnamese version attracted approximately 620K views, nearly matching the original.
The Thai version notably excelled, surpassing 5.43 million views—three times the original version's viewership. Strategic marketing campaigns through Google and META were launched globally, complemented by outdoor advertising in Thailand, Hong Kong (China), and Singapore.
Unique marketing initiatives, such as fan-driven TukTuk advertisements and offline gatherings in Thailand featuring Ao Ruipeng, significantly enhanced local viewer engagement.
Since its premiere, "Coroner's Diary" has garnered significant media attention across Hong Kong (China), Taiwan (China), Thailand, Indonesia, and North America. Media from Hong Kong (China) and Taiwan (China) have notably highlighted the drama's engaging narrative, suspenseful elements, strong performances, and high-quality visual production.
Thai and Indonesian media have commended the effectiveness of the localized dubbed versions in deepening audience connections. North American outlets particularly noted the drama's exceptional production values and distinct Oriental aesthetics, further strengthening its global reputation.
iQIYI's "Four Halls of Drama Excellence" series includes the Hall of Honor (for dramas achieving a popularity index of 10,000 or above), the Hall of Fame (popularity index of 9,500 or above), the Hall of Popularity (popularity index of 9,000 or above), and the Hall of Quality (popularity index of 8,000 or above).
With a popularity index exceeding 10,000, "Coroner's Diary" has successfully entered the prestigious Hall of Honor, marking its status as an influential blockbuster. To date, only 17 iQIYI dramas have reached this exceptional milestone.
In recent years, iQIYI has continually innovated and maintained its leading position in the genre of historical detective dramas, consistently delivering delightful surprises to audiences.
"Mysterious Lotus Casebook" creatively blends martial arts with investigative mysteries, intertwining thrilling adventures with heroic sentiment and lighting up the 2023 summer season.
The "Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty" series features intricate and mind-bending mysteries set against the rich aesthetics of the Tang Dynasty, vividly portraying various facets of life and becoming a beloved national IP.
Meanwhile, "The Demon Hunter's Romance" combines Oriental aesthetics with fantasy elements, showcasing imaginative storytelling deeply rooted in Chinese culture, thus becoming a new benchmark for Chinese fantasy dramas.
iQIYI has also released a series of high-quality dramas, including "FEUD," "A Dream Within A Dream," and "Justifiable Defence " in recent weeks.

African Shaolin monks break the Internet with their fists, flying kicks

FEW are left untouched by the raw power and discipline exhibited by a Shaolin martial arts performance. More than just for self defense, it is a cherished tradition handed down for many generations, dating back to 1,500 years ago. But recently, a Shaolin performance went viral, not because of the admirable synchronisation or the flurry of fists and kicks. More amazing was the fact that it was performed by a group of Africans. African Kids demonstrating Chinese Shaolin Kung fu in Zambia 🇿🇲 — Zoom Afrika (@zoomafrika1) July 27, 2025 The video which was posted by @zoomafrika1 on X has since received 1,100 reposts and over 233 comments. However, netizens were divided over the video. Netizen @TemiR5U, for example, said it was an African problem to be obsessed over the cultures of some other countries instead of their own. 'This is another form of colonisation. Don't they have their own culture and tradition to demonstrate? You can never see a Chinese demonstration of other ethnic cultures and traditions in China,' said @sirjona88. But several others believed this was a positive thing. On another note, some netizens couldn't wrap their heads over the fact that Africans could be practising Shaolin martial arts. Take it from @IbaiBasabe who wondered if the video was likely AI generated. However, a brief check on Google reveals 2023, the Global Times reported that Zambia hosted the inaugural African Shaolin Kung Fu Games, a milestone event organised by the Shaolin Temple in the country. Held at the Shaolin Cultural Center in Zambia, the six-day programme ran from June 21 to June 26 and aimed to boost the popularity of Shaolin martial arts across Africa while fostering deeper cultural exchange. The event brought together more than 150 participants representing 23 African countries and regions, making it a truly continental affair. Adding to the significance, the Abbot of China's original Shaolin Temple, Grand Monk Shi Yongxin, travelled to Zambia with a delegation of monks to lead and participate in the cultural exchange segment of the event. No AI here, just disciplined Africans performing Shaolin martial arts. Then again, why is it so hard to believe Africans could perform Shaolin martial arts in the first place?—July 28, 2025 Main image: @zoomafrika1 (X)

But it is now becoming a reality for the celebrated Indonesian star, widely known as BCL. Having long admired the vocal strength of the first Malaysian Idol winner, BCL said she could not contain her excitement when the Gemilang singer finally agreed to perform at her concert this September. At a recent press conference here to announce her BCL: Eternal Love – Timeless Romance concert, BCL described the opportunity to share the stage with Jaclyn as "deeply meaningful and a great honour'. When she started singing at this event (the press conference), I nearly cried. "She has a powerful yet gentle voice. I think she is one of the greatest singers in Asia," she said. Organised by Pulse Project Asia, the concert will take the audience and fans on a journey through BCL's musical career, featuring a collection of love songs and meaningful ballads. The show will be held at the Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, on Sept 27. Declaring that she cannot wait to meet her fans in Malaysia again after her last visit in 2023 for her Blossom Intimate Concert, BCL said her upcoming performance will not only be about music but also the emotional connection between Indonesia and Malaysia. "I'm honestly very nervous because I'll be surrounded by such talented people. "But I hope this concert will bring the two countries closer together and create a fun and meaningful experience for everyone," she said. Meanwhile, Jaclyn said she was touched upon learning that BCL was a fan. "I honestly didn't know whether she even knew who I was. Jaclyn, who has won numerous awards, including at the Eighth Shanghai Asia Music Festival, said when she received the invitation to sing at BCL's concert about a month or two ago, she agreed without hesitation out of respect for the Indonesian singer's stature in the regional music industry. "She's a big name, not just in Indonesia but also in Malaysia. So why not? In fact, I really like the concept of her show," she said. As for the songs she will be performing, she said discussions are still ongoing and she has not received any specific song requests from the organisers. Malaysian electric violinist and music producer Dennis Lau will also appear as a guest performer. – Bernama
