Huge delays after four-vehicle crash
A four-vehicle crash has caused major delays on Sydney's M4, one of the main citybound routes from the city's western suburbs.
Three cars and a truck collided on the M4 eastbound at Minchinbury - between Wallgrove Rd and the M7 offramp - at about 5.50am on Thursday, police say.
Two of the three eastbound lanes have been closed approaching the M7, with motorists warned to expect delays.
Traffic cameras near the scene show significant congestion as commuters begin their morning journey towards the city, with banked-up vehicles stretching for kilometres.
Paramedics treated one of the car drivers – a 65-year-old woman – at the scene, before she was taken to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
The other drivers - a 25-year-old man, a 38-year-old man, and the 42-year-old truck driver - were all uninjured in the collision.
The indicient is under investigation by officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command.

Canton man killed in 3-vehicle crash in Harrison County
BOWERSTON ‒ A Canton man was killed in a three-vehicle accident on state Route 151 at 3:27 p.m. June 27 in Monroe Township in Harrison County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said. Charles Oliver Jr., 55, was a passenger in a Chevrolet Suburban that was struck by a semi-truck. The Steubenville patrol post said a westbound GMC Yukon XL driven by Carolyn Sanderlin, 25, of Minerva was towing a utility trailer and being followed by the Chevrolet Suburban driven by Randy Reed Jr., 38, of Minerva. The driver of the Yukon wasn't in control and swerved across the centerline and off the left side of the roadway, the patrol said. An eastbound Peterbuilt semi-truck with a crane loaded on a flatbed trailer and driven by Thomas Kirkland, 46, of Marion Center, Pennsylvania, veered to avoid the Yukon but hit the left side of the Yukon's trailer. The semi-truck also sideswiped a concrete bridge parapet wall and jackknifed sideways across both lanes while being pushed into the Suburban, the patrol said. The impact caused the semi to catch fire and burn, the patrol said. All the individuals involved appeared to be using seat belts, the patrol said. A news release didn't state whether the others involved in the accident were injured and the patrol couldn't be reached for comment. The crash, which took place two miles west of Bowerston, remains under investigation. Route 151 is closed between U.S. Route 250 and Bowerston because the accident and fire caused significant damage to the pavement, the Ohio Department of Transportation said. The road will remain closed indefinitely while extensive repair work is completed. The detour involves state Route 646 and Route 250. Traffic stopped on M6 as vehicle goes up in flames
All traffic was stopped on the M6 this afternoon (June 28) following a vehicle fire. The incident took place just after 12pm between junctions 30 and 31 (Samlesbury Interchange) just outside of Preston, according to Inrix. Videos shared with the Manchester Evening News on Facebook show police vehicles blocking the road and sirens blaring as a thick black plume of smoke pours from the burning car. Traffic began moving again just after 1pm but two lanes remained closed as emergency services worked to clear the scene. Another video shared with the M.E.N showed the charred remains of the vehicle, whose engine appeared to have exploded. Council removes bizarre roundabout after backlash from drivers in 'disgraceful saga'
An unconventional and much talked about road feature has disappeared overnight just days after it made headlines around the country for its very peculiar, and seemingly ineffective, design. A diamond-shaped roundabout was recently rolled out in Sydney's southwest – much to the total bemusement of drivers in the Liverpool Council area. Fifteenth Avenue, set to become a key arterial route to the new Western Sydney Airport, has recently seen a flurry of roadworks, with three new roundabouts installed in quick succession. Roundabouts have been added at 22nd Avenue, Craik Avenue, and the now-infamous – and short lived – diamond-shaped roundabout at 28th Avenue. Footage captured by Yahoo on Friday at the unusual roundabout showed a number of drivers ignoring the painted lines and driving straight through the road feature. However on Friday night, council workers quietly removed it all together. "There is no roundabout, it's gone," a council spokesperson told Yahoo News on Saturday. "We listened to our residents. It was a design that didn't work. "There were lots of complaints about it, so the simplest thing to do was to get rid of it." Photos from the scene on Saturday show black paint over the previous diamond shape and a previous sign has been removed, and replaced with a regular Giveway sign. "There was actually a mound in the middle of the intersection, so it was pulled up and the intersection has been repainted with slightly different line markings to the previous one. "It's going back to the intersection that it was, and we've also put some improved line markings to make it a bit simpler and easier," the spokesperson said. Local MP Nathan Hagarty was also on the scene on Saturday to mark the occasion. "Cars are still stopping, they're not sure what to do," he said in a video posted to constituents on social media. "But as far as I'm concerned, this is not the end of this disgraceful saga. I have had a look at the original designs and what I can say is that the design that I saw do not match what was delivered, so I think some serious questions need to be asked to Liverpool Council and the contractors... how much money has been wasted?" he said. Related: Major road rule changes coming into effect on July 1 across Australia For it's part, the Liverpool Council says the state government needs to upgrade the road to make it fit for purpose to handle the amount of traffic it receives. "It's always been an awkward intersection … we've been waiting years for that road to be upgraded – it's a major thoroughfare. It's going to be the major link into the Western Sydney International Airport and it's not going to be ready in time," the council spokesperson told Yahoo.
