FC Barcelona First Team Star Will Renew Then Leave Club
An FC Barcelona first team star will renew his contract and then leave the club according to Catalan radio programme Què t'hi jugues, which cited anonymous sources.
Ansu Fati was the Lamine Yamal of the late 2010s, and as a 16-year-old smashed a number of top goalscoring and appearance maker records for club and country.
In 2021, he was handed Lionel Messi's number 10 shirt when the Argentine left on a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, such was his status as the widely-considered future of the club.
Cruel injuries then halted the former Spain international's progress, however, and he had to leave his boyhood club for Brighton on loan in 2023/2024 in search of more minutes.
On his return to Barca last summer, he initially impressed then-new head coach Hansi Flick but picked up an ankle knock which once more halted his trajectory.
Ansu then spent the rest of a treble-winning campaign being used sporadically, and he's once more being linked with a move away from FC Barcelona to Monaco.
Reports on that topic first started circulating in late May but appeared to have cooled off. This week, however, outlets such as Què t'hi jugues report that the wheels are once more in motion with Ansu on the brink of joining Paul Pogba in Monaco.
The Catalan-language radio programme explained that Ansu will join the Ligue 1 outfit on loan with a purchase option of $12.8 million (€11 million) while Barca would have a buyback clause themselves of $32.5 million (€28 million) should Ansu show signs of his old self in France.
To avoid him running it down and joining another club on a free the season after next, however, Barca will reportedly seek to extend the La Masia product's contract until June 30, 2028 whereas it is currently set to expire 12 months before said date.
After presumably passing a medical at Monaco on June 28th, Fati should join up with his new team on July 1 for the start of its preseason preparations.
Ansu Fati has no clear path to starting at FC Barcelona
With FC Barcelona pursuing Nico Williams and reportedly agreeing terms with the Euro 2024 champion, moving on is probably the best outcome for Ansu given he has never appeared to be in Flick's primary plans.

Liverpool consider shock move for Premier League forward linked with Barcelona
FC Barcelona's sporting department is working to sign a winger to reinforce the team's attack ahead of the upcoming season. After Nico Williams' decision to renew with Athletic Club until 2035, two main candidates remain: Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford. The Liverpool ace would require a significantly higher financial outlay than the Manchester United outcast, who could potentially arrive on loan. However, Barcelona are not the only club interested in securing Rashford's services for the upcoming season. Liverpool eyeing Rashford? Indeed, according to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are also considering the signing of the Manchester United forward, who will turn 28 in late October. The Reds are on the lookout for a new striker and have Alexander Isak of Newcastle United as their top priority. However, with the Magpies refusing to sell, alternatives are being explored. Rashford will leave Manchester United. (Photo by) And, one of the names that has been put on the table is that of Rashford, although there has been no progress made on that front so far. Rashford is not part of Manchester United's plans, and the Red Devils are seeking a way out for him in the coming weeks. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa and could leave Old Trafford again on loan for the new campaign. As has already been reported, Rashford's priority is to play for Barcelona, and he is willing to wait as long as necessary. However, it will be interesting to see whether the possibility of staying close to home by signing for Liverpool, should they consider making a move, tempts the 27-year-old.

UCI objects to former Armstrong manager Bruyneel's presence at Tour de France
MONT VENTOUX, France (AP) — The International Cycling Union has objected to the presence of Johan Bruyneel, Lance Armstrong's former team manager, in staff areas of the Tour de France. The UCI said Tuesday it had asked race organizers whether they had given Bruyneel accreditation to appear at the Tour's start village before Stage 12 in Auch last week when he took part in a TV program for the Flemish-language Belgian channel VRT1. 'Bruyneel is banned for life from taking part in any activity related to cycling,' the UCI said in a statement, noting the Belgian national's sanction by the Court of Arbitration for Sport 'for anti-doping rules violations when he worked with the U.S. Postal Service Pro Cycling Team and the Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team.' Bruyneel was initially banned for 10 years by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency in 2014 for his role in doping programs that helped Armstrong to seven Tour de France titles between 1999-05 and provided other riders with illegal performance boosts, but that sanction was extended to a lifetime ban by CAS in 2018 after an appeal by the World Anti-Doping Agency. 'While he is free to attend a cycling event registered on the UCI International Calendar — such as the Tour de France — as a regular spectator, he is strictly prohibited from participating in the event in any role or capacity, or from accessing areas that are closed to the public,' the UCI said after Stage 16. 'This includes, in particular, areas of the Tour de France that require accreditation.' The governing body said it had contacted Amaury Sport Organisation, the Tour de France organizer, to ask whether Bruyneel 'was granted an official accreditation, to understand how this could have happened, and to ensure that no further accreditation will be issued to him.' It said it 'will take all appropriate measures.' In 2014, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency said Bruyneel, a former rider and team manager, 'was at the apex of a conspiracy to commit widespread doping on the (U.S. Postal Service) and Discovery Channel teams spanning many years and many riders.' Bruyneel claimed he, Armstrong and others were made scapegoats for an era when doping was 'a fact of life' in cycling. 'I do not dispute that there are certain elements of my career that I wish had been different,' Bruyneel said at the time. 'However, a very small minority of us has been used as scapegoats for an entire generation.' ___ More Tour de France coverage:
