Florida's Tampa International Airport has been named the best airport in the United States for traveler experience, according to a new study analyzing reviews, amenities, and search data across the nation's busiest hubs.
The research, conducted by QR Code Generator, evaluated 31 of the busiest U.S. airports using a traveler-focused index. Key factors included Google review ratings, the percentage of five-star reviews, scores from aviation website FlightRadar24, the number of shopping and dining amenities listed on TripAdvisor, and the average monthly Google searches about lost luggage per 100,000 passengers.
The latest ranking comes amid a broader resurgence in global air travel. According to the International Air Transportation Association (IATA), total passenger demand in April 2025 was up 8 percent compared to the same month last year.
"April was a positive month for travel. Growth strengthened, especially for international demand which saw record load factors for the month," IATA director general Willie Walsh noted in a statement in May.
However, Walsh warned: There are some signs of fragility of consumer and business confidence with continued weakness in the US domestic market and a sharp fall in North American premium class travel."
The airport ranked first overall with a traveler enjoyability index score of 71 out of 100. The Florida airport had the highest Google rating (4.6 out of 5) and the largest share of five-star reviews at 74.11 percent. It also led all U.S. airports on FlightRadar24, with an impressive review score of 88/100.
Arizona's Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport came in second with an overall score of 63.9. The Arizona airport particularly excelled in luggage handling, recording just 4.46 monthly "lost luggage" searches per 100,000 passengers—94 percent lower than the average across other airports. That metric alone earned it a 97.4/100 in that category.
Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport ranked third with a score of 62.4. It trailed only Tampa in terms of Google review satisfaction, with 63.5 percent of all reviews awarding five stars and an overall rating of 4.3. That translated to a second-best score of 68.5/100 for Google review performance.

San Francisco International Airport followed in fourth place. The California hub achieved a strong index score of 60.7, bolstered by a high rating of 84/100 on FlightRadar24.
Rounding out the top five is Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Georgia, with a traveler experience score of 57.6. More than half—57.24 percent—of its Google reviews gave the airport the highest possible rating.
The sixth-best airport for traveler experience was Florida's Orlando International, with a 57.3 index score. Orlando stood out for its amenities, ranking fourth among all airports analyzed in terms of shopping, dining, and entertainment options.
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport placed seventh overall but ranked first in Texas. The hub scored 57/100 for travel enjoyment, outperforming two other Texas airports included in the study.
Eighth on the list was Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, with a 56.1 score. Michigan's Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport followed in ninth, scoring 55.1.
Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport in Texas rounded out the top 10, earning an overall score of 53.6.

Although they're constantly evolving their tactics in a never-ending quest to defraud travelers, scammers often employ Google's helpful products and services to serve their cruel Google Search results through 'malvertising' is a scammer-favorite tactic often used to trick unsuspecting searchers. In travel malvertising, scammers have found an effective way to take advantage of the fact that many people turn to Google Search when they need to call their cruise line, hotel, or airline. When a cruise passenger falls for a malicious ad inserted in Google Search results, their phone call is directed to someone posing as a cruise line representative who typically offers them a cruise deal that sounds too good to be true. Luckily, many people know to be wary of these kinds of cruise deals, but scammers still succeed in tricking some travelers, since convincing fake ads make cruisers think they've called their cruise line directly. A recent thread in the Carnival Cruise Fans Reddit community revealed just how easy it is to fall for one of these scams.'I called the Carnival Cruise Line number [listed in Google Search results] because I was having trouble with a minor check-in issue online. While I was explaining the issue on the phone, the agent said there is a promotion going on and if he cancels my reservation and rebooks the exact same cruise for me, he can get me about $1,000 cheaper,' adhdhuh posted in the Reddit community. Other Carnival cruisers cautioned adhdhuh that it sounded like a scam and suggested that the cruiser double-check to make sure they didn't call a fake phone number posing as the cruise line. 'People pay top dollar to have their scam number show up first on website searches. They are banking on you not wanting to find the number on the website and just Google for the number,' mexicopink turned out that a fake phone number was exactly what the cruiser used. It was easy to mistake it for the actual Carnival Cruise Line number, because the sponsored listing that appeared at the top of the search results associated the number with Although this type of travel scam isn't new, it tends to resurface at times of year when there's a rise in travel and travel bookings. And Royal Caribbean and other cruise lines' passengers are targeted, too. The best way to avoid it? Don't click any phone numbers directly from Google Search results. Verify that you've found the legitimate cruise line website and navigate there to confirm the cruise line phone number before more travel malvertising seems to be making it through Google's security checks lately, the search engine does work to prevent it. 'At Google, we strictly prohibit ads that hide or misrepresent information about a business, product, or service. Ads impersonating other brands or businesses to solicit money or personal information are prohibited, and we actively monitor for this type of misrepresentation — including by suspending advertisers for egregious violations,' Google stated in a recent online scams advisory. Google's Trust & Safety teams warned in the advisory that there's been an increase in travel scams as the summer vacation season gets underway.'Fake travel websites lure users into booking travel with a promise of 'too good to be true' prices, experiences, or discounts. These deceptive sites often imitate well-known hotels or pose as legitimate travel agencies, a tactic particularly prevalent during holidays and major events when people book travel via messaging apps or phone,' the advisory explained. Google also offered some safety tips related to online travel scams: Beware of low prices and big discounts that seem way less expensive than anywhere else. Use Google tools such as 'About This Result' and My Ad Center to verify website security. Steer clear of wire transfers and opt for secure payments that offer buyer protection. Many of Essex's animal sanctuaries feature petting zoos with reasonably priced feed for the animals, as well as play areas and rolling fields which make ideal spots for a picnic. In a Trip Advisor review of Hasty's Adventure farm said: 'Really great day out with our 4 year old grandson, so many good activities from animals to go karts, all the animals are well cared for pens are a great size and clean and tidy. 'It was well priced at under £60 for 5 of us and we managed to stay most of the day and the little shop at the end wasn't over-priced either so came away with some goodies.'
