Recalling her time shooting for Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Smita reminisced about how the cast used to sit and play Antakshari, calling them a big family. Speaking about Salman and Aishwarya's love affair, she said, "Yes, they fell in love there. Their affair flourished there. And it helped the film a lot. Both of them had those moony-moony eyes, and romance was showing on their faces. That worked very well for the film."
Talking about Salman and Aishwarya individually, Smita said, "Salman is quite a brat. I don't know how he is now but at that time he was. He is a very nice person, a large-hearted person. I haven't seen him angry on set. Who doesn't get angry? But people tend to exaggerate it when it comes to film personalities. If someone instigates you, you're bound to get angry, right? We don't know the other person's side—what they did to provoke that anger. Aishwarya is very beautiful. Without makeup, too, she looked so pretty. Very humble, very grounded—at least at that time when I knew her."
About Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam
Helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the romantic drama explores themes of love, sacrifice, and self-discovery. Starring Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai, and Ajay Devgn, the film tells the story of Nandini, who falls in love with Sameer but is later married to Vanraj. Known for its breathtaking visuals, soulful music by Ismail Darbar, and powerful performances, the film became a massive hit. The chemistry between Aishwarya and Salman, paired with Bhansali's poetic storytelling, earned it critical acclaim and multiple awards.
Aishwarya and Salman's relationship, which began during the shoot of the film, eventually turned turbulent. Aishwarya confirmed their breakup in 2002. While she has since moved on and married Abhishek Bachchan, Salman remains unmarried.

Abhishek Bachchan recalls meeting Aishwarya Rai for the first time on a film recce, praises her for Aaradhya's upbringing: ‘She's amazing, selfless'

Abhishek Bachchan recently opened up about the first time he met his now-wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, during a recent interview. The actor recalled their unexpected first meeting back in the late 1990s, when he was assisting on his father Amitabh Bachchan's film Mrityudaata and happened to visit the sets of Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya, which starred Bobby Deol and Aishwarya. 'I was on a recce for my father's film Mrityudaata with Mr. Mehul Kumar and our head of production, Shagun Vag, in Switzerland. My mother had sent me there because I'd grown up in Switzerland and studied in boarding school, so they felt I'd be familiar with the locales. Around the same time, I was very close to Bobby Deol, who was shooting Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya. The day we were out on our recce, we happened to walk onto a set where Bobby was shooting a scene with Aishwarya. I think it was at the Zanin train station, right next to Shtar. That was the first time I saw her in person. Of course, we'd all seen her during the Miss World phase, but this was the first real-life meeting. That evening, Bobby invited me to their hotel for dinner, and that's where we actually met for the first time,' Abhishek shared with Nayandeep Rakshit. 'I remember Mickey Contractor, who did her makeup and knew me since childhood, was there too. Aishwarya tells me she couldn't understand a word I said because of my British boarding school accent,' he laughed. 'She does the heavy lifting with Aaradhya' — Abhishek praises Aishwarya as a mother The conversation then turned to their daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan , and how she's been raised with grace despite being in the public eye. Abhishek was quick to credit Aishwarya for their daughter's values and upbringing. 'I have to give the credit of that entirely to her mother. I get to go out and make my movies, and Aishwarya does the heavy lifting with Aaradhya. She's amazing. And selfless,' he said. He reflected on the instinctive nature of motherhood, adding, 'Mothers are wired differently. They prioritize their child above everything else. That's why our go-to person in life is always our mom. It holds true for me even today.' Abhishek Bachchan's Shocking Confession About Living With Aishwarya And Parents Aaradhya is growing up away from social media, says Abhishek Abhishek also revealed that Aaradhya, who turns 13 this year, is not on social media and doesn't even have a phone yet. Despite growing up in a legendary film family, she remains grounded. 'She's been brought up to be a very conscientious girl. That's a testament to her as an individual,' he said proudly. 'She's turning out to be a wonderful little lady. She's the pride and joy of the family. We're blessed.' Abhishek concluded by reflecting on what truly matters in life: family. 'With time, you realise that happiness is just coming home to a happy and healthy family. That's so important,' he said.

Smita Jaykar Thought Priyanka Chopra Couldn't Be A Heroine: ‘She Was Dark, Looked Like Nothing'

Smita Jaykar says Priyanka Chopra was once 'skinny and dark', but stunned her with a diva-like transformation and global success. Priyanka Chopra has shattered countless stereotypes to become one of the most influential Indian actors in the world today. But her journey to stardom was anything but easy. In a recent interview, veteran actor Smita Jaykar, who worked with Priyanka in the 2004 film Kismat, recalled her first impression of the actress and how Chopra's incredible transformation left her stunned. Speaking to Filmymantra Media, Smita candidly shared, 'I did Priyanka's initial days' film with her, Kismat. She was very thin, skinny, dark. She was introduced to me and Mohan Joshi that she will be playing our daughter. When I saw her, I said, 'Oh My God'. She looked like nothing at that point of time. I thought how do these people come to become a heroine." However, Smita admitted that her perception changed completely. 'Cut to, Priyanka Chopra was wow. I thought what has this girl gone and done. She became a diva completely. So, you can't judge somebody and say, 'Yaar, yeh kisko leke aaye ho'. Kuch maaloom nahi kiski kismat kab badal jaaye. What an actress, fab!" Priyanka has always been vocal about her struggles with body image and skin colour. In an earlier interview with BBC, the Quantico star had said, 'I was called 'black cat', 'dusky'. I mean, what does 'dusky' even mean in a country where we are literally all are brown? I thought I was not pretty enough, I believed that I would have to work a lot harder, even though I thought I was probably a little bit more talented than my fellow actors who were lighter skinned." Despite the challenges, Priyanka has carved a unique path in global entertainment. She was last seen in Heads of State, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on July 2. The action-comedy features her as MI6 agent Noel Bisset, alongside Idris Elba and John Cena. Meanwhile, Smita Jaykar will next appear in Maa Lapataa and the third season of web series Romeo.
