CM Rekha Gupta slams AAP's health model, terms 'Mohalla Clinics' a 'photo propaganda'
She also criticised the previous governments in Delhi for the crumbling health infrastructure.
Addressing a public event in New Delhi, CM Gupta said, "For 27 years, the people of Delhi were misled with slogans, songs, and talks of reform, while the actual healthcare infrastructure crumbled. Before our government took charge, Delhi had just 0.42 hospital beds per 1,000 people under the previous regimes. Out of 38 government hospitals, only six had MRI machines and just 12 had CT scans."
Taking a veiled jibe at AAP, she said that the so-called "world-class health model" projected by the former government was nothing more than a hollow claim.
"They introduced a fancy name – Mohalla Clinic – and spent crores in the name of public health. But what was the result? These clinics were built next to drains, with massive posters carrying leaders' faces but no medicines or medical staff inside," the Chief Minister claimed.
She further alleged that unqualified individuals were hired to operate these clinics. "There was just one person at some centres, with no valid degree, who was paid Rs 40 per patient. His focus was not on treatment but on numbers. They claimed 200 patients visited daily, but even basic math doesn't support this - it was simply impossible given the working hours," she added.
CM Gupta accused the previous administration of widespread corruption in awarding contracts, constructing hospitals, and recruiting staff.
"From contracts to infrastructure, from procurement to payroll, corruption was everywhere. And this was the so-called revolution in healthcare they promised," she said.
Without naming the AAP directly, Gupta said Delhiites had been fooled for years with fake models and photo ops.
"Our goal is not to create noise but to bring real change. The people now realise that those before us were focused only on headlines, not healing," she said.

Delhi to ask SC to allow uniform rules on end-of-life vehicles: CM Rekha Gupta
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday said that her government will approach the Supreme Court to request uniform regulations on end-of-life vehicles in the capital, in line with norms followed elsewhere in the country, The Hindu reported. 'The parameters that are applicable in the entire country should also apply to Delhi,' she said. 'We want Delhiites not to face any inconvenience.' Gupta also said that the Delhi government will inform the top court about the pollution control measures that have been taken in the capital and push for parity with national standards, The Indian Express reported. She criticised previous governments in Delhi, claiming that they had 'never worked on mitigating pollution'. 'That was the reason why they were often slammed by the court,' The Indian Express quoted her as saying. 'In the end, the court and the National Green Tribunal had to take tough steps like this. But now things have changed.' This came a day after Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena urged the Delhi government to file a review petition before the Supreme Court. In his letter to Gupta, Saxena had criticised the current rules, saying that it was 'irrational to imagine that a 10-year-old diesel vehicle has reached its end of life in Delhi while remaining roadworthy in other parts of the country'. Acknowledging the collective responsibility of tackling air pollution, Saxena had emphasised the need for a more balanced, technologically-driven policy on vehicle emissions. 'The policy execution must also reflect principles of legality, fairness and socioeconomic sensitivity,' Saxena said. In 2018, the Supreme Court banned diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years in Delhi as part of efforts to curb air pollution. The ban came into effect July 1. Under the directive, the end-of-life vehicles would not be allowed to refuel. To enforce the ban, automatic number plate recognition cameras were installed at nearly 350 petrol pumps across the national capital to detect such vehicles. The same will apply to select areas of the National Capital Region such as Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar and Sonipat from November 1, and across the rest of NCR from April 1, 2026. Delhi has more than 62 lakh end-of-life vehicles, the Hindustan Times cited data from the government's VAHAN database as having indicated. On Thursday, Delhi's Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa had written to the Commission for Air Quality Management, requesting to suspend its order banning the supply of fuel to old vehicles in the national capital, citing several operational and infrastructural challenges.

Kejriwal said that it 'is a real revolution as the teachers who used to protest climbing water tanks during the previous regimes are today interacting with the Chief Minister to achieve such ranks.' He said that the state government has provided congenial atmosphere and the teachers have duly utilized it to excel in every sphere so that the students can be immensely benefited from it. Kejriwal said that the previous governments had exploited the government teachers due to which studies were adversely affected but things have seen a paradigm shift now. Kejriwal said that NAS is a big achievement but it is not the ultimate goal of his government which intends to ensure the well being of every person. He said that the certificate of the people that the state government has brought education revolution in the state and other fields is the real acknowledgement for him. Kejriwal said that eliminating drugs, imparting quality education to youth and ensuring job/ business for them are the three major thrust areas of the state government. He said that the teachers should take responsibility that the students are weaned away from menace of drugs. Kejriwal said that the properties constructed from the drug money have been razed to dust by the bulldozers. He said that those who had ruined the future of generations are now getting the punishment for their sins and these leaders who had patronized the drug trade are being put behind bars. Extending special thanks to the teachers, principals, and staff of the education department, he said that their hard work, dedication, and commitment have made this achievement possible. Kejriwal said that Punjab's achievement in NAS-2024 will be recorded in the annals of history adding that the most significant aspect is that this survey was conducted by the Government of India—not by Punjab. Kejriwal said that this nationwide survey was conducted by NCERT in collaboration with states and Union Territories in December 2024, involving thousands of students from across India.

It is not Mann who is presiding over the Cabinet but Kejriwal and Sisodia," Jakhar alleged. However, state AAP spokesperson Neel Garg defended the leadership's involvement in Punjab affairs. He also denied any "rift" between the two state units. "Delhi is getting involved in a guidance role. When elections take place, it is the party that goes for polls not the government. The central leadership is guiding the party how to run police matters. It is for the benefit of Punjab," Garg said. What next? Sensing it is in a difficult position in Punjab, where its maiden term will end in March 2027 followed by the assembly election, the AAP has launched various initiatives, including one against the drug menace, an emotive issue here. Under "Yudh Nashian Virudh" (War Against Drugs) campaign, the police have apprehended 19,735 smugglers in 120 days. The state government has also introduced the land pooling scheme for the planned development of its cities. It is also looking for investments to fund its welfare initiatives.
