Lewis Capaldi plays surprise set at Glastonbury: 'I'm back'
Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi told the Glastonbury crowds "I'm back, baby" as he played a surprise set on Friday afternoon, two years after a performance at the festival during which he struggled to manage his Tourette syndrome symptoms.
The crowd started chanting "Oh Lewis Capaldi" before he began playing the hit song Before You Go, to kick off his set, which had been listed as "TBA" on the Glastonbury website.
The musician, who announced a break from touring shortly after his performance at the festival in 2023, has just released a new song called Survive.
He also told fans: "It's just a short set today, but I just wanted to come and finish what I couldn't finish first time round."
This year's line-up at the festival in Somerset features a number of acts listed as "TBA", as well as a mysterious act called Patchwork, who will take to the Pyramid Stage on Saturday.

Along with Dublin, Capaldi's tour will include shows in Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow and two performances in London. Prices will range from €30 up to €158.25, subject to a 12.5 per cent service charge per ticket, up to a maximum of €10.50. The news comes after Capaldi played a triumphant surprise set at Glastonbury on Friday 27 July, two years after a performance at the festival during which he struggled to manage his Tourette Syndrome symptoms. Capaldi marked his Glastonbury return by performing hits such as Before You Go, Grace, Hold Me While You Wait, Bruises, Forget Me, a first live showing of Survive, and Someone You Loved. He told the crowd at Glastonbury: "It's so good to be back. I'm not going to say much up here today, because if I do, I think I will probably start crying. "But it's just amazing to be here with you all, and I can't thank you all enough for coming out and coming and seeing me." Capaldi performed a 35-minute set on the Pyramid Stage and while introducing his new song, he became visibly emotional as he said: "The last two years haven't been the best for me. Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams all smiles as they're photographed at Glastonbury
US singer Gracie Abrams said she was "pinching" herself after she made her debut at this year's Glastonbury Festival where she was photographed with her rumoured boyfriend, Irish actor Paul Mescal. The 25-year-old popstar posted a series of photographs of her performance at the Somerset festival, writing in the caption: "Glastonbury just thank you so much. I will never ever stop pinching myself that we got to do this." The Grammy-nominated artist also shared a video to her Instagram Stories which showed her on the Gladiator II star's shoulders during Olivia Rodrigo's rendition of The Cure's iconic hit Friday I'm In Love on Sunday night, which she performed alongside the band's frontman Robert Smith. Paul Mescal's sister, the singer Nell Mescal, was also in attendance at Worthy Farm this year, and posted a carousel of photos and videos of her weekend to Instagram. Abrams shared a photo to her Instagram Stories and wrote "crying and stuff". Meanwhile, Mescal's Normal People co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones posted a series of photos and videos from Glastonbury of them enjoying Abrams' Other Stage performance. Abrams reposted a photo of her in a group with Edgar-Jones with the caption: "tears tears tears". Abrams and Mescal were first romantically linked in June 2024 when they were spotted out together in London. In May of this year, Abrams was in attendance at Mescal's The History of Sound premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Although they weren't photographed together, the pair both wore all-black ensembles.
