German giants Bayern Munich secured their place in the quarterfinals of the FIFA Club World Cup by defeating Flamengo of Brazil 4–2 in a thrilling Round of 16 clash held early Sunday morning at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, USA.
With this win, Bayern advances to a high-stakes encounter against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on July 5, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, to vie for a spot in the tournament's semifinals.
The first half ended with Bayern leading 3–1. The scoring began early in the 6th minute when Chilean Erick Pulgar mistakenly scored an own goal, giving Bayern the lead. Harry Kane doubled the advantage in the 10th minute with a precise finish. Flamengo narrowed the gap in the 33rd minute through Gerson, who fired a powerful left-footed strike inside the box after a cross from Giorgian De Arrascaeta. However, Leon Goretzka restored Bayern's two-goal cushion with a goal in the 41st minute.
In the second half, Jorginho reignited Flamengo's hopes by converting a penalty kick in the 55th minute to make it 3–2. But Harry Kane struck again in the 73rd minute, sealing the result with his second goal of the match and Bayern's fourth.
This edition of the Club World Cup, hosted by the United States, is the first to feature 32 teams and is being played across 12 stadiums in 11 cities, from June 14 to July 13, 2025.

Later on Monday, Al-Ahly's sporting director, Mohamed Youssef, confirmed that the club would retain the Palestinian star despite receiving multiple offers from European and Gulf teams. Abou Ali has played 60 matches for Al-Ahly, scoring 38 goals and providing 10 decisive assists across various competitions. He played a key role in securing back-to-back league titles in the past two seasons, as well as the 2024 CAF Champions League and domestic Super Cup.
