Twenty-litre acid spill at Kuala Kangsar school triggers emergency clean-up by Bomba
Perak JBPM Operations Division Assistant Director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said they received a distress call at 3.30pm, prompting a team from the Kuala Kangsar Fire and Rescue Station to be dispatched to the scene.
"The spill involved a 20-litre drum of acid stored near the school canteen. The acid had begun to evaporate while a teacher was tidying and cleaning the storage area.
"Firefighters in full protective gear conducted a size-up and applied the Saver (Systematic Approach for Victim Extrication and Rescue) concept to identify the substance and assess the leakage," he said in a statement.
Sabarodzi said the drum was removed from the storage room and placed in a designated chemical disposal room.
"Firefighters then cleaned the floor to ensure full decontamination. The school was also advised to contact the contractor responsible for managing the acid," he added, noting that the operation concluded fully at 5.55pm. — Bernama

Also present was Datuk Izwan Hasli Mohd Ibrahim, chief executive officer and director of Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd (PJH). According to Nor Hisham, all CFLCs will offer interactive modules such as fire extinguishing demonstrations, rescue tool usage, and hands-on emergency drills. 'These initiatives are crucial to fostering a culture of safety as a shared responsibility, not just the tasks of firefighters alone. 'CFLCs will also function as inclusive, community-friendly learning centres offering experiential education, with child-friendly approaches and engaging, outdoor-style activities,' he said. The CFLC initiative is part of JBPM's proactive efforts to strengthen its connection with the public through structured fire safety education. It also supports the department's broader mission to make fire stations more people-oriented. These centres play a vital role in educating the public, especially students and young people, about fire safety, prevention, and emergency preparedness. "We expect all the dogs to arrive in Malaysia by October, before commencing duties in November after undergoing several processes and training. "For the selection process, three officers from JBPM, the Veterinary Department, and the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) will be sent to the UK. Upon arrival in Malaysia, the dogs will undergo a familiarisation process with their new handlers,' he said. He was speaking to reporters after officiating the 2025 Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption forum here today, also attended by Kelantan JBPM director Farhan Sufyan Borhan.
